Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes
I've loved the food here for years. The staff is always friendly, and the owner always comes by. Creme brulee is really good. My only issue is that they give you milk instead of cream with your coffee, which I don't care for, but you know the saying...
Always great food, great ambiance and friendly attentive staff.
Lynn’s has gone downhill since my last visit about 10 years ago. Of course, Lynn the founder passed away about 8 years ago, so shame on me for not checking reviews before booking Lynn’s for my daughter’s special birthday. The service, once a hallmark of Lynn’s, was abysmal. We had to ask for bread and our beverage glasses were not refilled in a timely manner. The time between appetizers and entrees was excessive, resulting in a three-hour meal. To add insult to injury, the restaurant added an automatic 20% gratuity for a party of five. Ordinarily, it would not have mattered, as I always tip at least 20% for good service, but in this case it was not earned.
Food-wise, the bread was delicious, once we got it. The crab cake, described by the waiter as their “signature appetizer” was more bread than crab, and was very meh compared to crab cakes at other nice restaurants. The steak entrees were good, but the two fish entrees were below average. The sauce on the blackened snapper was over-abundant, thick and flavorless. The Chilean sea bass was spongy in texture, as if it had been boiled. Overall, a VERY disappointing visit to Lynn’s. A $600 meal should be a lot better experience than this. We won’t be back.
Great food and good service. Nice people
The food tasted great, but much of it was only warm, not hot. As if some of the sides and sauces were prepared well in advance of the entree and had time to cool. This is the first and only time I’ve ever had anything negative to say about Lynn’s. Normally it is a very nice place to eat.
Delicious entrees and very accommodating. We were celebrating a birthday.
Service is impeccable always. Warm and helpful. Food was outstanding!
We celebrate birthdays and anniversaries at Lynn’s Steakhouse in March of every year and they never disappoint. The food is always amazing and the service always exceeds expectations.
The food was exceptional and service, professional. Lynn’s has a legacy of great steaks and ambiance of a smaller venue, perfect for a night out if you’re wanting something other than a franchise experience.
Lynn's is awesome on all levels! Steaks are great, service is fabulous AND most importantly, it is quiet - you can easily have a relaxing conversation without having to shout over music! thankyou Lynn's - our family loves this neighborhood gem!
Very nice service, wine list, meat and seafood quality top-notch. Probably 5-10% lower price relative to big chains (Palm, Perry’s, Cap Grill, etc. ) the place could use a style upgrade in my opinion, although others in the party thought it was quaint.
Had read good things about Lynn's and decided we would give it a try for something different. The food was quality, no issues there. Service was average, nothing really bad ... nothing really above average. The only real issue we had was with the price of wine. Of course we expect to pay 'restaurant' prices for wine which is totally different from retail but the prices here are at least 30% more than any other fine restaurant that we frequent such as Perry's, Morton's or Eddie V's . We will probably stick with our other favorites in the future.
Food is good. Service is excellent. Cost is pretty high.
Celebrating my husband’s birthday, service and food was excellent from appetizers to main dish. We enjoyed dining at Lynn’s steakhouse, consistently met our expectations and more. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Thank you for making his birthday a special one.
This restaurant was amazing and the service and food was impeccable! Thank you Daniel for your great service
Great experience as always at Lynn's. Daniel did a great job serving us. We had a very enjoyable meal and will come back again when in Houston. Thanks to all for the hospitality.
Very impressive wine list. Classic steakhouse
I have never had a disappointing evening at Lynn's and my visit on Feb 3rd did not disappoint. I had not been to Lynn's in a while but since moving back to Houston, I had been wanting to go. I had out of town clients in town and we had an enjoyable evening. The food was excellent as was the wine and service...no complaints and highly recommend Lynn's for the dining experience and consistency.
Excellent meal and an outstanding wait staff. Highly recommend
We have always enjoyed Lynn's for our special occasions. This visit was a nice "date night" with my hubby. It still felt like a special occasion. We will be back.
Filet steak was excellent, sides were excellent and wine was perfect. Third time eating here and never fails to impress. Great food and personal service. 5 stars each time.
Our first time here and we had very enjoyable evening. It is a older spot, relaxed and very friendly. The service was immediate and top notch. The food was excellent and can easily recommend Lynn’s to all.
We’ve been customers of Lynn’s Steakhouse since 1995. They are our go-to for special occasions and when we just want a great steak. Their shrimp, crab cakes, and fish entrees are great as well. We’ve never been disappointed.
The steaks were awesome and everything was a wonderful 41st Anniversary Event.
My friends and I enjoyed a delicious lunch. The beef medallions were tender and the bernaise and peppercorns sauces were the perfect complement.
Always reliable quality food, prepared as if it were a special meal at a friend’s home. Cozy atmosphere although a little dated. This icon has been around for about 40 years.....must be doing something right. Incredible wine list! A 15 minute drive from the city out to Dairy Ashford, but worth the trek. Much better value compared to the Steak ‘99’ or El Maestro’s types.....and every bit as tasty without the snooty factor.
Great experience overall. Went for my birthday celebration with my parents. Food was great and service was great as well. Daniel was our server and was very helpful. I've already recommended Lynn's to a few friends.
All of their meat choices are outstanding. Definitely my favorite is Filet Oscar. Really nice salads (not too big) like their toasted goat cheese and good selection of sides. They do a nice job on the Brussel sprouts. Extensive wine list as well.
The food was wonderful and the prices were great!!
Perfect spot for a quiet evening with excellent service. Consistent food quality.
The three course October dinner was more like a kids menu and not for a grown-up.
Went with my wife on a date night. The service was wonderful and the food was excellent. We were able to have a conversation and hear each other talking, even at almost a whisper, unlike many large restaurants that are so loud one can hardly think.
We had a wonderful time and ate wonderful food and will be back many, many more times!
This was one of our most enjoyable family celebrations. We had two birthday people and they were each recognized with a plate that said Happy Birthday (with each name) and a cupcake with a lighted candle in it.
I will certainly go back, especially during Houston Restaurant Weeks. The menu was loved by everyone--choices were excellent. In fact, the HRW menu was a big reason I chose Lynn's Steakhouse.
This restaurant is AMAZINGLY QUIET!!! I hate to take a group out to a noisy restaurant. We want to visit with each other and many restaurants have such loud music that it's hard to converse. Lynn's Steakhouse had a very subtle music background and we could hear each other even across the table. I wish I could give 10 stars just for this reason alone.
In accordance with the current COVID rules, waiters and manager were wearing masks and gloves. The manager greeted us at the door, knew who we were from the reservation information (group of 6) and had our round table set up for us. We felt very welcomed.
It's been a long time since we've been to Lynn's. The quality of old is suffering. My red snapper was very overcooked, my partner's steak was chewy. Lynn's has seen better days. The service was excellent A+.
The ambiance and service are always exceptional and the food is excellent. We choose to spend most of our special occasions because we love it so much.
However, one dish that was ordered was not the best, it was snapper with an "Etouffe topping" the Fish, great...the topping was a short cut recipe and the taste was not good at all, BUT they replaced the dish with something else to our satisfaction.
the steaks are always just right and the service is typically spot on!
The service was the best part of the evening. The food was ok. We were dining on the Houston Restaurant Week menu so I won't complain about the cost. If I was buying all of the courses individually, I would be extremely disappointed. The best entree at our table was the filet. The NY Strip was a poor quality of meat and the snapper tasted like something out of a freezer. The desserts also tasted like something out of the freezer. Unfortunately for Lynn's there are a number of fine steak restaurants in the city that are at the same price point that serve much better food.
Crab cakes were excellent- so full of crabmeat
Filet minion was cooked to perfection
Dessert was dek
One of the very best dining experiences on the westside of Houston. Always excellent food and service. Very romantic, intimate spot with a vast wine selection. Highly recommend.
