This restaurant was better when it first opened a few years ago. We are now done with it for good. They used to serve complimentary cheddar biscuits that were very good and now they charge you for bread. The entrees are subpar at best. Over priced for what you get. Don’t waste your time or money here.
Wonton nachos were delicious. Would definitely go back the next time we are in town.
Everything was fine except we sat in the parking lot. They did add flowers etc but It was nothing like their patio. Covid strikes again
Beautifully arranged space for safety. All were masked. Hand disinfectant even on tables in attractive bottles. Seem well and thoughtfully prepared for current pandemic.
Server was outstanding - delightful personality, very attentive in non-intrusive manner. Service was timely and done with ease. Food is really excellent. New menu with Asian options is a nice addition, and traditional dishes better than ever. Perfect evening dining experience.
Great food. Great service. Great job with COVID aspects
1st, we love Lure, been here many times, and the food is always consistently top shelf excellent!
This visit was for my wife's birthday, and in the past, for our birthdays, we've usually received a complimentary dessert for the birthday person. (I had listed this on my Open Table reservation, as the reason we were coming; I also mentioned it to our server.) This time, no complimentary dessert.
We felt that we could have been done sooner, but seemed held up by our staff person not keeping track of us, as well as we've been taken care of in the past. Especially since you suggested to people that there was a time limit, in order to serve others. We took this into consideration, but things could have moved along quicker had the server been a bit more on top of things.
We missed having the choice of the Early Bird specials, as we've had in the past. (one negative) This was a great option for us early diners.
It also didn't seem like you were offering as much of a variety of entres as before- seemed very heavy on seafood of course, but not very many other options.
We look forward to returning again, and appreciate the garden area for seating! We live here, so I'm sure you will see us again soon!
Excellent place! Would give 4.5 stars if I could. Waitress was wonderful in terms of service yet a bit green in terms of knowing menu options or work-arounds for preferences. Will definitely go back!
Our meals were delicious and the service was fantastic! We highly recommend!
Loved the atmosphere and the staff was great. The food was not bad per se, but nothing was special. For the price, we would have expected more flavor or more advance cooking technique. We weren't upset we went, but wouldn't return.
Our visit to Lure was a bit of a mixed bag. More on positives and negatives below, but there was a larger issue I feel compelled to call out upfront. Lure advertised on its website that indoor dining would be shut down due to recent spikes in COVID cases. We were glad to hear this and be seated on the patio, however upon venturing to the bathroom, I discovered nearly the entire indoor dining room was full of seated patrons. This was extremely disconcerting and felt very uncomfortable to navigate. At best, Lure didn't live up to the image of health and safety it promoted on its website, which I found incredibly disingenuous.
Okay, back to the rest of our dining experience...
First, what we enjoyed:
- The back patio garden is a nice, secluded spot to enjoy a beverage and conversation
- Our server was perfectly polite and enjoyable, if somewhat absent during the meal
- The perch plate adequately satisfied my craving for a locally-caught fish fry, though marginally overpriced
Other parts of the meal were less enjoyable:
- We ordered two cocktails and they were...not great. The "Lure Old Fashioned" tasted like a watered-down "kiddie cocktail" with no discernible taste of bourbon. The Cucumber Jalapeno Gimlet was so spicy, we couldn't even taste the dinner role after taking a sip.
- The crab nacho tower (emphasis on tower) was an unmanageable foot-tall pile of 100 fried wonton crisps topped with 1/2 cup of lump crab meat. Once you removed one crisp, the tower collapsed and finding any crab meat was like playing the "buried treasure" mini game on "Mario Party."
Overall, the experience, food, and service were mixed. Once the pandemic passes, and Lure figures out an actual health & safety plan, I'd be happy to go back for a glass of wine, but do not feel the food and beverage quality warrants the price. You can find better seafood options for much less elsewhere in Sister Bay.
They are handling COVID19 effectively and the entire experience was very good.
The food was excellent and we were looking for a Wisconsin Fish Fry (perch) pricey at $25.00. Great atmosphere and we enjoyed the outdoor space. Felt that the safety precautions taken were excellent!
Great food. Sat outside social distancing. Nice environment. My wife’s birthday - a little disappointed that they didn’t do something for it since I mentioned it several times.....
We were thoroughly impressed with Lure for our last dinner in Door County. The teriyaki chicken, bacon wrapped filet, crab nachos and corn bread were an absolute HIT. Don't forget your after dinner ice cream drink - the grasshopper was great! The ambience of their outdoor seating was so nice. The staff did a great job with cleanliness related to the COVID-19 restrictions. The only thing we would have improved was our waiter wasn't super friendly. Overall though 5 stars!
The service was excellent, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was great. It was a Friday evening and it was very busy but we did not feel rushed nor did we feel uncomfortable or too close to the others dining.
I have to admit, the food was good, service was impeccable, the atmosphere was interesting in that they kept some of the pre-existing church decor. However, my husband had a simple fish and chips plate and the price was ridiculous!
Great atmosphere and food. Beautiful outdoor seating.
It's back. Like many who visited Door County frequently, we dined at The Mission Grille often. Unfortunately, the overall experienced waned and with it the quality of the entrees.
Lure is now open in that location and the food is inspired. My wife and I each enjoyed the Seafood Pan Roast, a wonderful collection of seafood and smoked sausage in a gumbo-like presentation that included sticky rice. Delicious.
The summer salad was great as a starter; the only disappointment being that they rushed the entrees to our table without checking on our progress through the salads. They could slow things down some, be more aware of their customer's pacing, and add to the enjoyment of the dining experience.
The staff and layout of the restaurant showed that they take the virus seriously and want their customers to feel and be safe.
Amazing food and a great environment! We dined outside in the evening, they have outdoor heaters, string lights, and beautiful trees surrounding the patio.
Great service and delicious food! The waitress would check in with updates on the food and the manager also stopped by the table to ask how the food was. I recommend!!
Only menu item worth ordering is the crab nachos (they are amazing!). Entrees are overall underwhelming in terms of taste/flavor/quality.
Was not happy that you had to buy bread off the appetizer menu. It was not free on your table. Also waited 15 minutes for waitress to come to the table with water
The food was outstanding. For a very nice restaurant they almost brought the food out too fast when you are having a relaxing dinner. I felt a bit rushed but they certainly did not push us out the door. It was our 45th anniversary and I had indicated that on our open table reservation but nothing was acknowledged. No complaints really but just thought they would have done something to indicate it. If they aren't then why indicate if we are celebrating something. The waiter was great, just a bit hard to understand sometimes but not terrible and he was also very attentive.
We always dining at Lure on their lovely outdoor patio.
While the outdoor seating was completely booked, we had the next best thing being seated in front by the windows, with good spacing between tables. Staff observed to be doing a good job with hand hygiene and wore masked. Food was delicious and we’d eat here again, but we miss the Triple Berry Cobbler with ice cream when the restaurant operated under a different name Please consider bringing it back to the menu!
We had an outstanding dinner at Lure. Crab nachos and summer salad for appetizers could not be more delicious. We had fresh walleye, halibut and ribeye entrees ordered in our party and they all tasted amazing. Definitely going back next time we are in DC.
Wait staff was very knowledgeable about gluten free items.
Food was delicious!
The Sysco truck opened a restaurant and called it.
“Seafood pan roast” consisted of overcooked unseasoned seafood with raw celery & onions and sauce which tasted like canned tomato sauce with some brandy added way too late in the cooking process. So much sauce it was like soup.
The tuna poke bowl had no flavor at all. And it was served on top a bagged salad mix inclusive of the dried out radishes & carrots.
The Austrian wine we ordered was actually from Australia.
We were charged $5.95 for “crusty Italian bread” with “whipped butter”. We were served prefab bread with butter packets.
Extremely disappointed in the low quality food.
The only plus is our server was awesome.
We had hoped for outside dining, but we ended up in the porch, which was the next best thing. The outside dining area is very beautiful and romantic. The walleye was delicious, as was the salmon, the haddock was a miss. Our meals came with a potato and vegetable. Service was friendly and prompt and all servers were wearing masks. Drinks were also very good.
Dine at Lure while in Door County. The food was very good,Recommend the walleye piccodine and the halibut with mango salsa. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it never came.
Everything was great.
Very careful attention was paid to distancing and our comfort level. Their menu had a larger selection than our previous visits and we were very pleased. Definitely will return for food quality, choices and ambience.
Everything was delicious and would have been perfect except my husband’s steak was undercooked and we sent it back and it was still undercooked! He didn’t want to wait for another round of cooking so he just tolerated it. Everything else was delicious and cooked perfectly. The service was also excellent!!!
4th of July and the vibe was awesome - Loved the red, white, and blue American Flag lights!
Great outdoor space with lots of shade. Great and friendly service with Emma -loved the perch and the California roll.
Overall a great place to dine, food was good and prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area. Only drawback is they are very disorganized. They do not have a paging system which required someone to check in every 5 minutes to make sure the table was ready. They ran about 20 minutes behind which is not great but not horrible on a Friday night. If your trying to stay outside and avoid going inside this will be a bit of a hassle for you since you will most likely be waiting in the busiest area of the restaurant. Other than that it was great. I would definitely eat here again
Overall the food was good. We were seated in the porch area and it was about 85° with 100% humidity and very little air movement. It was almost unbearable. The waitstaff was inattentive and did not offer to fill waters or ask f we wanted additional drinks etc.. Prices were fair. The crab nachos were delicious but the white fish was soggy.
The respectful handling of social distancing was excellent. The food was amazing! I have already recommended to so many people. A $5 old fashioned on top of it all. We had fast and friendly service.
My husband and I had a lovely dinner at Lure. The food was excellent, and dining on their beautiful patio is lovely. We think this is the prettiest patio dining in all of Door County.
