The food at Luna Rosa was mediocre at best and was a poor representation of Italian cuisine. The service was down right terrible and we barely saw our server in the 1.5 hours we were there. I would not recommend this restaurant, unless you want to waste your money.
Oddly the waitress will not take your order for gelato after your meal. They make you get up and get in line to order it. Other than that the food is good.
First off, let me start by saying that the food was good. The dishes were flavorful, but one was supposed to be capellini and one linguine, and they both came out over spaghetti. I found it strange that an Italian place specified what pasta it was then sent out spaghetti for both. Also, the food took forever, and there were only 3 tables, including our table of two, and two couples at the bar... and one of those tables left because it was so slow. It took us almost an HOUR to get two pasta dishes. I have no idea what the hold up was, but we too were getting ready to just leave when the food showed up. The server was very nice but offered no reason or apology for the delay. Maybe they were just understaffed? That being said, I think even if it was only one person in the kitchen, they should’ve been able to get those 9 meals out a bit quicker than that. It was nice that they had half price bottles of wine... that helped. Side salads also come out before the meals, and the homemade dressing was very good. Unfortunately, no bread comes with them. Again, any good Italian place has good homemade bread to start with. We thought the bar area was very cute and loved the lighting but the lighting in the restaurant part was cold and too bright. Overall, we might give it another chance down the road, but they really need to work on speeding up the service and warming up the ambience.
Cute lil date night spot, the gelato is so good! We had the motz medallions which were amazing, the dipping sauce tasted house made. The stuffed mushrooms were great (it would’ve been great if they had a non Gorgonzola option, so I could’ve had them but my boyfriend loved them!). The Scallopini is delicious and the pasta was great. My boyfriend got the Margarita pizza which was a bit dry but the taste was good!
Maggie is the best server, you should always request her if you go!
Delicious food, great atmosphere! And Best gelato EVER!
Great wait staff and food portions were excellent.
Went for the Valentine's special menu dinner and really enjoyed it! Jose and Lauren do such a fabulous job. The fried mozzarella was particularly delicious.
Luna Rosa is a beautiful downtown cafe in Greenville,SC...we’ve enjoyed the gelato on several occasions but never dined here until today (Feb.14) for a fun & different Valentines Day date...the service was impeccable, friendly & professional...we both decided to try the Cesar Salad with top round steak...we both love a good Cesar Salad and were excited to try Luna Rosa’s take on said salad...we were underwhelmed & disappointed with what we were served...the greens were most likely prepared in advance (by more than a day) and were swimming in whatever the dressing was - and the top round steak served on top was tasteless and very cold, maybe we’ll come back some day and try a panini...the fried cheese sticks we had as an appetizer were really good as was the amazing gelato...
This was a fantastic dining experience for my date and me. Every course was perfectly and promptly prepared as well as outstanding, personable attention from staff. Highly recommend!
Always amazing food and top notch service.
We had an amazing Valentine's Day dinner at Luna Rosa. The owner and wait staff were over the top awesome. They were so friendly and informative. The owner gave us the back story on what the space was before becoming their restaurant. The food was fabulous. We had stuffed mushrooms, fried mozzarella square, soup and filet. Everything was out of the world great! Will definitely go back.
Awesome atmosphere. Awesome food. Awesome service. Can't wait to go back!
Luna Rosa is a hidden gem in Greenville. Known for its gelato, it often gets overlooked for dinner or lunch. Definitely recommend for either or both!
Great environment, friendly staff, and delicious food. We typically just come for gelato but this time, we enjoyed a meal as well. We will definitely be back.
Great little place. Cozy but chic. Great food and excellent service!
Food is always delicious. Owners and staff are awesome. Very customer service oriented and friendly.
We were seated promptly. Our server was friendly but busy. Good food and great gelato
Really nice place right on Main St. Quick walk to the falls and shopping. Service was excellent as was the food... This is a casual place with inside and outside seating so if its chilly do not sit where we sat which was by the side door... We didn't realize the staff would be going in and out constantly - Overall Gelato was outstanding as was the food and service!
A+ experience for our family of five. Highly recommended the spaghetti and meatball. The meatball is about the size of a fist and super tasty.
The entree was excellent. The salad was prepared and plated in advance, it could have tasted fresher if done when ordered. The staff was very welcoming . The service was very good. We will go again.
As always, the service is excellent, the food delicious, I met a friend for lunch and it is always a lovely meal here. The only problem is we never have room for the gelato!! It is worth an extra trip!!
We had a great experience. The service and food were excellent!
Joined them for dinner on New Year’s. The food was excellent. The ambiance was a little lacking due to the gelato station. They could have closed the curtain to improve the ambiance, but staff seemed reluctant to do it. The person serving gelato in front could greet people coming in for dinner. We would definitely dine here again. Recommend the Pasta Milano.
Very good food. It wasn't too loud which is always nice when on a date. It wasn't too expensive either. It was like twenty-five dollars with the tip.
Our neighborhood gem....home away from home...and love 'Mama's surprise soups!' Holiday Blessings to all at Luna Rosa!
We absolutely love Luna Rosa, our home away from home. What makes it special, aside from the excellent homemade cuisine, is a family-caring environment to every last detail...from pizza to homemade pasta! A must for all at least once a week.
The service was great and the food and drinks were amazing.
Our server was terrific. He was very knowledgeable about the entries and the selections from the bar.
Everything was fantastic, the food gelato. All the servers were very friendly!
Really good food and service. The salmon dishes we had were great. The ambiance for dinner was nice and of course the gelato is the best in town.
Ordered items: caprese salad, stuffed mushrooms, chicken piccata, carbonara with fresh capellini. Dinner came with a salad. Dinner was overpriced for the portion size. Option for fresh house made capellini was a $2 upgrade. Not worth it. Didn't seem fresh. Salad was tasty, stuffed mushrooms were a little salty ( not from the proscuitto topping) but decent. Cheese sauce for carbonara was a tad off and lingered too long on my tongue. Needed something to cleanse palate. Other guest enjoyed the caprese salad and the piccata.
Mom was in town visiting and she loves Italian food. Luna Rosa had delicious food, drink, and dessert!! Quick service and courteous staff.
Luna Rosa has quickly become one of my favorite spots for a fun dinner with friends! Their food is always amazing (although kind of expensive) and it’s never too loud to hear the person across from you, which I always value. Of course, the gelato is the shining star of Luna Rosa. There’s really no better dessert anywhere. The wait staff is always so, so wonderful. They’re so genuinely kind and always have a fun, conversational tone with the customers, which make’s everybody’s night more enjoyable.
Luna Rosa Cafe completely exceeded our expectations. The menu describes traditional Italian dishes which is what drew us there. The dining area is tucked behind the gelato storefront and has a very appealing simple elegance. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. The food is presented beautifully and is absolutely delicious. We ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer which was extremely flavorful was served in a small cast iron skillet. The NY Fresh Vito and Capellini & Meatball entrees were both exceptional. You'll want extra bread to finish every drop of the sauce. The gelato for dessert is a must. I believe there are about a dozen flavors options. We tried the Carmello and Chocolate extreme and neither disappointed - SO creamy. There are other restaurants in Greenville offering Italian fare, but in our opinion, this one offers the best for delicious classic italian dishes.
Best food and service in town. We eat here all the time and love it. If you haven’t tried the Tomato Eggplant Bisque make sure you get it!
The food was amazing. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was delightful.
Our home away from home....great ambiance, service and cuisine....small plate or larger meal...topped off with the best gelato!! Thank you!!!! Janine & Joe
Service was very spotty; ended up finishing my wife's water as the waiter never came back to replenish mine. Very friendly, but overall very disjointed.
Food was very bland and hardly any flavor. Also, if you're going to sit people outside at night in 50 degree weather please invest a few heaters.
Our go-to for homemade pasta, meatballs, personal pizza, soup, salad and more...not to forget the one-of-a-kind gelato for dessert...love the casual ambiance, service and wonderful family owners! See you next time....Janine & Joe
