Louie's by the Bay
Had a barking little dog next to us which was irritating My husband hates ( not fun to be around) when they allow dogs in a restaurant We had dogs and we never took them to a restaurant. Uncaring dog owner, not cool. Unsanitary to have animals in restaurant. Im a former restaurant owner for over 30 yrs and we only allowed true service dogs!!!
Goid food, good service, patio view is unmatched!
Louie's atmosphere, service, and FOOD consistently delights, inside or out depending on ridiculous closures lately lol :)
Ambiance was great and service was good however food was subpar
Great service , great food overall awesome
We absolutely love this place. The decor & ambience are so enjoyable...staff is knowledgeable & friendly..and , of course, the food is excellent...our new favorite place😊
Table right in the water. Our server was superb! And the food was super yummy! Loved our experience!
COVID 19 rules not respected . Super crowded at the bar and lounge. all tables occupied, waiters and bussers no gloves . Mediocre food . Wedge salad tasteless. Salmon overcooked, halibut very salty. Panna cotta tasteless .
Good service and nice ambience and location .
This is an expensive restaurant. Not worthy
We eat here fairly often because we just love this restaurant! The owner Piero is always so welcoming and so is all of his staff. The food is superb, not to pricey and very fresh and well made. The wine is.....well you can guess! Service is always top notch. We have brought friends and business associates here to enjoy with us. And, so all in all, this is why we rate this restaurant at the top of our “go to” list for dinner and fun.
The most enjoyable experience I’ve had in a long time even more so during Covid.. great ambiance.. very one was friendly.. new favorite place
Food was fantastic. We knew the Italian dishes would be great because we had dined often at Piero Selvaggio's Valentino and they did not disappoint: Loved our entrees: the Ossobuco and the Veal Saltimbocca with prosciutto, sage and fontina cheese in a wine reduction, and the Mandilli handkerchief pasta in creamy pesto sauce was delicious. The wine list is nothing like what Selvaggio kept in the cellar at Valentino, but the offerings were still quite good and fairly priced. View of Newport Harbor at sunset was a nice plus.
Great location and nice views. Service was really slow and in attentive. Food was really bland and definitely not worth the price...
We had a very nice table by the window. Service was attentive. We ordered eggplant Parmesan which had a nice crisp crust and seafood pasta. Martinis are delicious!
We really liked the atmosphere. It had a ralph lauren type décor and was great for a nice night out without having to fully dress up. We would definitely take friends here for a nice evening by the bay. The food was pretty good - We have found better Italian - but it was still a fun evening.
Always great. Location is superb as well and staff thoughtful.
You can't beat the ambiance of Louie's. The service has always been impeccable and the food is quite good.
Poor food poor service way overpriced. I had a $62 rib eye that was about as good as a Sizzler steak. Took me 30 minutes to get my Tanq and Tonic had to ask 3 times and my guests didn’t get food they ordered. It was actually pretty bad.
As usual, experience was a ten. Our go to restaurant in Newport Beach. Great service, atmosphere, views. All good.
New restaurant which doesn’t happen often so we were excited to try it out
Octopus appetizer, Oso buco and pepper spaghetti were all fantastic
View is great of the harbor
Only suggestion is specific to Covid
Would have preferred staff to wear gloves and require patrons to wear masks when walking around
Bar had people too close together with no masks
They could learn from the winery
We will return!
Great experience from start to finish. Originally had a table in the bar area and our server was kind enough to move us to a table with a view. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed our dinner choices. My favorite was the octopus salad. Super flavorful. And the pastas were outstanding. Look forward to returning.
Love this place. So glad they reopened
Nice modern space with a view overlooking Newport harbor. Good cocktails made as requested. Food is the high point of this restaurant, all courses were well prepared and savory. Wine list is ok, selection of Italian wines is limited, vintages are young and the price points are high. Low point was the service....lacking judgement as to our pace, courses too close together, a big abrupt at times.
Return?....yes for the food.
The food was outstanding, but the service was off. Cocktails arrived after appetizers were served, wine arrived after entrees, and even coffee arrived after we had finished dessert
What a great restaurant. The view, menu, wine list, and service was all exceptional! Also, the manager Vanessa, was a delight to speak to and very informative with the menu and the restaurant's history. :) Will definitely be back.
First time having dinner here. Delicious!
We have eaten here on multiple occasions and the food just gets better! The service is excellent, the ambiance is warm and inviting and the entire evening was extremely enjoyable. Cannot wait to return!!
Service was bad fir the third time, Friday night special fish was out at 7:45 pm????, food is overpriced mediocrity. Will let all my friends at the country club know the go to A instead
My ribeye was good but not excellent, red wine sauce was best part. Wife’s eggplant Parmesan had much more tomato sauce than other restaurants serve and overwhelmed the rest a bit but still good. Fries were served room temp (on purpose I guess) and the cheese and herb rub didn’t add a whole lot, and light salt and pepper instead would have been an improvement in my mind. Prosciutto appetizer was excellent as was the wine and dessert. Would go again but order differently. Crowd was lively and the view is fantastic
Great menu; extensive wine list; can be noisy if near the bar.
The entire dining experience is always very enjoyable at Louie’s with one exception. As it get close to closing time the wait staff no longer checks on you to see if you have water. And there was someone from the kitchen staff who was giving me dirty looks, pacing back and forth, sighing loudly in an attempt to get us to leave early. This is the 2nd time it’s happened while dining there.
I’m a frequent diner, needing a restaurant to meet a good friend. Found Louie’s on Open Table, and its a gem. Food was perfect, salads, steak, eggplant parm. Wine list is a little young, but found a nice brunello to complete a terrific meal. Go there and enjoy!
I really enjoy every chance I get visiting Louie's! The entire experience from start to finish is always lovely. The staff really makes the difference - love the entire team!
One of our local favorite places to eat on the water. This is a classy joint with great food, ambiance and location. I had a steak and my husband had the veal plus a side of mash potatoes (out of this world with flavor). No room for dessert but the menu looked great.
Loved the Osso Bucco
Enjoyed our dinner.
Valet parking a nightmare. Took 30 minutes to get my car after dinner. Can not recommend the restaurant until they get the valet parking service fixed.
Way over priced. I know you are in Newport Beach, but really? You have a lot of competition so either price your menu reasonably or bring up your game on the food aspect. Valet parking 8.00????? Not needed either
Had a wonderful Valentines dinner at Louie’s. Everything from the food to service to views were perfect. We love it there!
Amazing bar tender and whisky selection. A fun place to start for dinner. Wonderful atmosphere in general but we did wait longer than expected to be seated (about an hour after our confirmed reservation). Although the restaurant had multiple open tables I felt rushed. I was surprised when we were not offered coffee or desert and received the check without asking for it. Other simple mishaps but good food and overall a good experience.
