L’Ostal is a Provencal restaurant rooted in history and tradition celebrating the cuisines of Southern France & its boundaries. Stemming from the old Occitania language, the word ‘ostal’ refers to house & the warmth of hospitality that encompasses welcoming one into your home. Throughout the six dialects of this language starting in Catalonia, stretching through the Languedoc into Provence and onto the Alps of Piemonte, they all embrace this welcoming through their cooking. We celebrate the traditions of each country through their amazing cuisine as well as showcasing the wine and heritage of indigenous products. We look forward to bringing our warmth in hospitality & dining to the great community of Darien, Connecticut. Welcome to our home at L’Ostal.

Really enjoyed our dinner, the staff, and the decor! We dined outside even though it was a bit chilly, but it was perfectly comfortable with the beautiful heat lamps they have. The staff was very attentive and friendly from the hostesses to the bussers. Food was very good. We ordered a few of the specials including the OUTSTANDING rib eye (just wow!). The arancino and panna cotta were just ok for me, but the gnocchi/burrata/prosciutto were spot on. I could eat the gnocchi every day! Would definitely recommend.

L'Ostal is a wonderful addition to lower Fairfield County's fine dining scene. Can't speak to the inside ambience since we dined on the very nice outdoor terrace, but I can speak to the marvelous food. Everything served was delicately prepared, well-flavored, and done to perfection. The menu is brief but a good range of French/Italian options left one fully satisfied. Service was cordial but a bit slow, perhaps because they are still getting their sea legs, having only been open a couple of weeks. We will definitely go back.

It’s so nice to have a fine dining restaurant in Darien. We have several very wonderful restaurants, but L’Ostral is just a bit more special. We sat on the patio under their tent. There were plenty of heat lamps to keep everyone warm.
We each ordered three of the smaller plates and felt we could have shared some of them, easily between two people and perhaps between three people.
The non-alcoholic mocktails were beautiful and also delicious.
Welcome to town, L’Ostral!

Very warm welcome to the restaurant followed by fantastic knowledgeable staff. The food was delicious the escargot sublime and the food gras excellent. My fish was done to perfection. I cannot wait to go back and try more items on this menu at the hands of this excellent chef. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a little NYC in CT.
