The dining area is shared with the general lobby with drop in people. Although I made a reservation way in advance, they did not have my reservation and if I wouldn’t had my reservation number I’m not sure they would have seated us. The teas available were delicious the food was rather tasteless. Lots of creamy centers without flavor. Nothing substantial like mini sandwiches. Over priced for the food selection with mostly sweets that were so so. If you’re going, stick to the tea and maybe the sweet basket. Forget the rest.
I picked LondonHouse for a bridal party tea service and it was outstanding. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The service was fantastic and the food was memorable. The tea service views can’t be beat either.
A different style of tea with unique savories and sweets. Most were extremely tasty and a couple flunked, but overall it was well worth it and a nice place to look out at the architecture. I would highly recommend it.

It was again beautiful time at London House.

Manager on duty add glass of champagne for four of us as a appreciation for coming back.
Thanks for great service.

Pricey but fun. Needed a glass of water and was seated next to bar. Had to ask at least 3 times.

45 minutes it took to even get our Tea. Staff called in, only 1 server. got our Scones finally but no Sandwiches or sweets
Worst afternoon Tea experience ever.
the food is not to the standard! Everything tastes bad
Wonderful afternoon tea. The reviews I read were not great but we had a wonderful time! The selection was yummy. The chocolate tea was super. Unlike the Drake, you get a savory and sweet menu of goodies. We made reservations and had a nice reserved table near the window. Nice decor and ambiance. I'd do it again.

The tea and main dish items were delicious.
The desserts were new and the flavor profiles were not good.

Sunday Tea
This is the worse afternoon tea service I have ever attended. From the service to the food to the atmosphere was all just awful. The server spilt everything he brought over including hot water and deserts all over me. The actual tea service is at a hotel lobby...trashy and the food was not that great. No flavor and dry items.
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to write us a review. It looks like the food and beverage manager already touched bases with you about the complaint and we will like to know if your are pleased with the outcome and if there is anything else we could assist you with. We provided all your feedback about the food to the chef. We apologize about the inconvenience created and we are sorry you were not able to enjoy a great afternoon experience.
The server was so nice and it was just a excellence experience. Will definitely return!

Lobby bar with slow tea service. Go to the Drake, or Peninsula.
Service was the only good aspect of the experience. Over priced and pedestrian food. Treat yourself to high tea at the Peninsula, Drake or Deerpath Inn instead.
Very disappointed in our experience here. Scones should not be hard, small, cold, and rubbery and clotted cream should not drip. The staff were nice, but didn’t have a clue about how afternoon tea should be served. The tea choices were odd and not served hot and neither cream or sugar or lemons were offered. There wasn’t a single traditional offering on hand and much of what was served was stale. The space was nice, but the furniture was really uncomfortable. The total experience was one of extremely overpriced indifference. My advice? Go elsewhere.
We did afternoon tea here and it was amazing! They had an amazing selection of teas and the 3 courses of snacks was delicious. The service was absolutely amazing. Our waiter made sure our teapots were always full and hot and made sure to help us with anything we needed. I highly recommend doing afternoon tea here.
So loud and crowded. Did not enjoy the savory items
My sisters and I took our mom to LondonHouse for mother’s day to have afternoon tea. Such a great experience with tasty tea and delicious food. Each person got to pick their own tea and got one piece of each of the treats on the food tower. I highly recommend LondonHouse’s afternoon tea!
Great service from Cecil as he tends to the lounge almost by himself. We had the afternoon tea service and enjoyed it much. This is not your traditional tea, the Chefs here added a contemporary flair to the service, some were good and some were so so. I really enjoyed the black tea with Canadian Ice Wine.
My friends and I had a great time at the LondonHouse Tea Service. The service was friendly, personal, and fun. The food tasted amazing and it was beautiful - so much time and energy put into creating the tea sandwiches and desserts. It was a wonderful location too - floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the waterfront on a gorgeously sunny Chicago spring day!
High Tea is an experiential occasion and falls into discretionary spending. Sharing the dining/tea room with hotel guest who are in their sleepwear takes away from that experience. The food was ok and the service was ok, but nothing over the top. On the flip side, the tea was very good and same with the spirits.
I had the tea service and was disappointed. Service was fine and the room was nice but the food was just not what I expected - tea was fine, food was non-traditional.
I
So much food, and unlimited tea! Pricey but worth it!
I enjoyed the service overall. I would have liked a better selection for tea choices. Also, the service wasn't great seeing as the bartenders had so many people to tend to. I would have liked a more personal wait staff. I enjoyed the treats.
A special tea celebrating my daughters 21st birthday! We had a wonderful time! Vince was fabulous taking great care of us! The food & tea was delicious! The views were beautiful!
Very pleasant experience. I went with my wife on a weekday which meant that we were the only Tea Service customers (at our reserved time anyhow).
We were given a table by the window with a beautiful view of the Chicago river. The food was excellent. I found it to be a very interesting twist on the traditional Afternoon Tea fair, while it did preserve the customary structure (scones, savories, sweats).
One thing was that we felt the tea selection could have been a bit more generous and, if I wanted to be nitpicking, 'perfect' service would not have required us to ask for some more hot water. It should have come automatically ... but that is really just being perfectionist. All in all, very nice, and I will go there again.
Everything was up to standard but it wad a bit rowdy because of the lobby traffic and the small-ish size of the siting area.
I went with my mom and daughter to tea at LondonHouse. We’d considered other places, but I’m glad we went here. The service was excellent. It’s a cool, chic place, but we felt comfortable and welcome with my 7 year old in tow. The room is just off the lobby, making for interesting people watching, and it also looks out over the river and some iconic Chicago architecture. Beautifully decorated, with good music. The pace of the meal was leisurely. We had a glass of champagne and a basket of baked goods while we waited for our tea and accompanying treats. My daughter had a kids’ version, which was nice, and half the cost of adult tea. A nice offering. The food and tea were delicious, and we left feeling full and satisfied. I’d definitely recommend it and would return again.
Not at all what I had expected. Maybe it was the time of year but the ambience was not inviting. Food was meh. Service by Scott was great.
Our waiter was very good but I felt we were sitting in the lobby and there was a larger party growing next to us that forced our party to leave early. A tea event should be quite calm and relaxed rather than struggling to hear the person next to you. We paid a premium for a tea experience and were not too pleased with the atmosphere.
We spent a late Valentine's Day celebration at LondonHouse for their Tea Service. We have done a few different tea services throughout the city of Chicago (Langham, Penninsula, Drake) this was by and large the most 'mailed in' tea service we have experienced. There were about 4 tea choices which were not exciting. The staff knew little to nothing about the teas offered. Someone randomly came and dropped off a bunch of treats for us which were fine, nothing exciting. Most of the sweets tasted out of a box, there was actually a fortune cookie offered which is laughable. Finally, when the tea was brought to our table, they didn't even tell us which tea was which and they didn't offer any suggestion as to how we should enjoy it. Honestly, this was just $100 for someone to brew us some tea bags and drop us off some cookies. I would not recommend this at all, it came off as a cash grab by a luxury hotel and nothing else. Also, a check was dropped off at our table without the individual asking if we wanted anything else. This service was a joke.
While LondonHouse offers a unique dining experience, they do not accommodate unique dietary restrictions.
Overall experience was good and fun. I wish it was on the rooftop or at a higher level than the lobby, so I hope that they’ll consider that in the future.
My few negatives were the fact that there was not enough filling in the macarons (the two halves should not be touching as pictured); and that the tea selection is fairly light if you don’t like black tea. I generally avoid black teas, especially Earl Grey, but the Earl Grey was fantastic. In a big picture sense: these are very very minor details.
Loved the ambience and the service. I go often.
My first tea service was just ok. I am pescatarian so my options were so very limited in what I received included in tea service. My friend who eats everything received small bites that included salmon topped prosciutto, I asked why I couldn’t have the same without the prosciutto and I was simply told that it doesn’t come that way. So for the most part my selection was all vegetarian minus one item that was a fish piece. Maybe if I had more of those and less of the veggie options I would’ve been more satisfied especially since tea for one is $50. We both were not thrilled to receive Christmas tree and gingerbread house pasteries in the first week of the new year, we joked and thought maybe they were just left overs from the Christmas holiday.
Overall, i love London House and I wil continue to go back just maybe not for tea ;)
It was a great evening for the teatime. An amazing view!
It was a major disappointment. Scones came out cold; I have never been served cold scones in an afternoon tea service ever. The rye on the savory sandwiches was dry; the cucumber sandwich was soggy and the fondant was cracked and dry. The latter tasted and looked old. I would not recommend and would not come again. I also made a request for no pork but the tray arrived with prosciutto....
The London House tea service is ok. Not great, not terrible. Space is sort of stark but warms up when it gets darker out and the views are lovely. The savory bites were terrific, the sweet were so-so. The service was a bit lackadaisical though not terrible. The trio caroling was very good but sort of annoying when one is trying to have a conversation. Light piano would have been more appropriate.
Loved the holiday carolers. It was a great holiday tea! Highly recommend!
