   On entering an empty restaurant, I was surprised to have the waiter insist on seating us at a table next to the only other guest when the rest of the restaurant was literally empty. For a steakhouse the steak was inedible, the order was brought out wrong on more than one occasion and the staff were all quite dismissive and rude. Not a place I’d go back to.

   I have to say to whole experience was very underwhelming from the moment I arrived, the food and service. Although I had made my reservation through OpenTable and had an email confirmation the staff had no record of my booking. To add to that it definitely felt like the staff did not believe me and made me feel very uncomfortable in front of my guests. The food was pretty standard, but what made it even worse was the staff were so miserable, no smiles and everything felt like an inconvenience.

   Really delicious food. Would have been better if a side had been included with the steak. And the irish coffee was very pricey!

   The venue is well laid out and intimate. The staff are efficient and courteous. Choose from either the limited set menu at £30 per head or the more expensive "a la carte" menu. Problem is that you have to make that choice when booking; obviously I went for the "a la carte"; menu; that was my first mistake and you will see why later in my review. I ordered the mackerel pate to start and the beef wellington to follow. They had a good selection of Portuguese wines and any one of them would be an excellent accompaniment to the beef wellington. The waiter scuttled off with our orders, then 5 minutes later.... First disappointment: "We have none of those wines sir, they've all run out". I chose an Italian Primetivo as an alternative, still delicious albeit more expensive. The waiter scuttled off with my amendment, then 5 minutes later.... Second disappointment: "We have no mackerel pate, sir, it's all run out". I thought that was a little odd as we were 3 of six patrons in the restaurant. I chose the potted duck pate as an alternative; boy was that a let down. It tasted like processed meat and reminded me of "Mattersons sandwich spread". The waiter scuttled off with my amendment, then 5 minutes later.... Third disappointment: "We have no beef wellington sir, the chef is just preparing it". I was again forced to choose another alternative; "Rump steak it is then!" I replied through gritted teeth. Basically, I'd ordered the set menu but at the "a la carte" price, if the steak was outstanding I probably would have given four stars but the rump steak from my local gastro pub is a far superior cut of meat; the buttered green vegetables and potato croquettes were nice though. The bill was eye-watering for a below average meal. Don't even get me started on the miscommunication regarding the price of the 15 year old Havana Club rum! A truly disappointing experience.

    We were surprised that even after two attempts they could not cook a steak medium rare, but we were so hungry after being made to wait 30 mins for a table in spite of having a reservation with OpenTable, we didn't care. The soup took 25 mins to arrive and only after reminding them that we'd ordered starters and they didn't even come with one slice of bread -and we were not offered bread either. It was quite hard to get anyone's attention. There were a lot of problems in ordering our food, communication between the staff and the kitchen, but they were very busy, so perhaps we were unlucky. The head waiter did his best to remedy the problem with our main meal, but I didn't want to spend more of my time to address the other issues because I could tell that they knew that they were having a difficult day.
