So disappointed— while I can think of reasons of why it was such a poor experience, this isn’t a review of what could have been rather than what was. We arrived for our 8:30 reservations at 8:26. We were promptly seated and sat…and sat. We finally were asked about cocktails and served some water. During this time 2 tables were sat. They both were greeted and had drinks before our server appeared. When he did appear to take drink orders we asked about the tapas— more about the portions and he proceeded to explain the meaning of the word tapas— to a Spanish speaking Colombian. Hmm. He offered bread when we placed our order for tapas. It never came. On the off chance the server or restaurant manager sees this review, here’s a thought…When a customer inquires about the menu, that is the time to note which items are not available. No ceviche? No problem, but when you tell us about the menu, then we proceed to order say, the ceviche, maybe it’s a bit too late to indicate that we indeed can’t have the ceviche. Our tapas all arrived at the same time. Generally that’s not how small plates are served.
All in all the food was ok. Garlic shrimp. Boring. Nothing special. The grilled calamari was over cooked and lacked flavor (we didn’t go beyond our initial bites on this one— he did remove this from our bill). The crabmeat tropical—a great name for a dish that was anything but tropical and another disappointment.
We were only asked about drinks in the beginning. Well not when we arrived, but after sitting there for 15 minutes, then waiting for another 20 minutes for the cocktails to appear. The drinks were heavy on tart and lacking any resemblance of the promised spiced rum- the first ingredient listed on the Blackberry Basil cocktail.
Certainly not worth the Lyft from the French Quarter. Poor service & uninspired menu.
Lola has changed over the years. The food was disappointing . Tuna did not taste fresh. The wait for the food was very long. We stayed there 1.5 hours longer than we wanted too.
Food was better than expected. Get the crabmeat tropical!!!
Food was okay. I was expecting better.
Service was great !! Food always great !
Great food and service
We had a wonderful time! Lola’s is outdoor seating for the most part, so, know that you may encounter a mosquito or three. It’s a very authentic, small place as well, so, while service is excellent, things are just gonna run at a slower pace. Order a bttl of wine or sangria, get the garlic mushrooms (omg), enjoy the beautiful oaks and charming neighborhood, but don’t be in a hurry.
We had the garlic chicken and meat paella as entrees and couldn’t have been more delighted. Both were delicious and I brought half the paella home...full, tipsy and planning my next visit! SO Pleasant!!!! Love Lola’s!
We chose to sit outside. We are so glad we did. This definitely was a mom and pop place, and the service was excellent. The paella was delicious, but the caldereta (lamb stew) was the shining star. Their wine list was a nice selection for very reasonable prices.
A bit slow, but the food was outstanding.
Garlic shrimp appetizer, followed by gazpacho and then meat paella. We ordered the salmon as well, but too much food: we were forced to bring it home!
Service rushed and inexperienced. Took water before I could get a sip. Asked for deser order while still eating entree. Food mediocre.
Lol Us is one of the most consistent restaurants in New Orleans. The food delicious, the service friendly, setting is charming when dining alfresco.
The food was good but the kitchen was super backed up on the main course, paella, so we did not order that. We weren’t given silverware or napkins. They seemed super shortstaffed which I understand but seemed like kind of a bust for paying over $100 for a meal..
Too much garlic esp. the butter. Also no one checked for vaccination status.
The food was savory and delicious. The service, outstanding. And the atmosphere was cozy and delightful. I had a blast.
Great food, friendly waitstaff, quaint building. Definitely will go back
We’ve been wanting to eat at Lolas for awhile now and finally were able to make a reservation. We were very disappointed! I tried to stay open minded even after it took 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. I tried to be considerate of the fact that it’s hard to find good employees now, but I saw at least 3 waitresses outside which seemed like sufficient for the amount of tables. We sat at 6:45 and our first drinks arrived after 7:15. I was offered bread and butter, as a preapp, but it came as the appetizers arrived. The whipped butter was basically garlic with a touch of butter. Then, the waitress stared at me as I scoffed down the last bite of my appetizer when the Paella came out! We were also very disappointed with our $51 plate of Paella! It was rice with a very small amount of seafood. We will not be going back to Lolas for dinner!
The interior has been redone and the comfort level is just “ ok” on the benches. The Simon paintings are missing and so is some of the “fun and funky” vibe and the friendliness of the staff is subdued.
The food however, is still FABULOUS! Even with the limited “Ida” menu, the paella was WONDERFUL as was the garlic shrimp. The almond nougat ice cream is also just the same delicious treat as before.
Excellent neighborhood dining experience. Great food and prompt, very friendly service.
We always love this restaurant! Sangria is a must .
The food is always delicious. We ordered the seafood paella and it didn’t disappoint.
Wonderful drinks and food with great staff and an incredible ambiance. This was my second visit and just as good, if not better than the first!
Loved every aspect!!
Great food! Since it is paella, it does take longer to cook than most foods. However, this makes it a perfect place to converse with friends over a bottle of wine.
This place surely has gone downhill. Used to be great. Took 20 min for drinks, 30 min for appetizers (cheese plate and ceviche with stale chips), paella was good. Sat outside with mosquitoes biting us....had to ask for bug spray. Drinks were tasty and were the best part. Wont go back anytime soon.
Asked to reseat, and then enjoyed being out front. Most of the dishes were very sauce heavy. Enjoyed the music. Service was very attentive until it was time did the check…felt like hours.
Always dependable, with lots of flavor and imagination. Small plates are great! And Ryan is a terrific server.
Lola’s was such a great experience. Can’t go wrong with sangria and paella!!!!
Thank you for the awesome food and experience.
Has been a go to of mine for over 20 years. I love this place!
Great tasty fresh food. Amazing ambiance. Will definitely be back. Loved it!
While there was a thunderstorm that first shut down the power/internet upon arrival, the team was very honest and pleasant while waiting. (We arrived all wet from the rain). Once they were able to serve, the food was true to its origins. I loved the ceviche, the paella was great and the sangria was excellent. Service was prompt, attentive and friendly. I was full but got tempted by the Nougat ice cream... not disappointed. A nice place to discover !
Great but too many flies at outdoor seating. Fans would help greatly.
The hostess, Cassidy, is extremely accommodating and tried her best to get us a table despite our last minute changes. The red sangria is excellent, though we didn’t get a chance to try the white. The garlic shrimp and mushrooms are a must try. We also had the seafood and meat paella, which was extremely fresh and flavorful. The only heads up I can give is to outdoor dining. When we received our food, flies swarmed upon us and we had to cover the paellas with napkins. Would definitely recommend indoor dining instead, the experience was excellent overall.
Way too expensive for the amount and quality of food.
Nice people, authentic, reasonable! Loved our waiter. Only recommendation is to change music to perhaps classical Spanish guitar,
. Seemed very Latino instead of Spanish on the music background!
Atmosphere is great, especially sitting outside. We had the paella (combination). Flavors were ok but the arborio rice was undercooked, and there was no crusty soccarat. I still will give this restaurant another try as I do like the atmosphere and like supporting the local restaurants.
Whenever I come to New Orleans , Lola’s is a must. The place is wonderful. Food is amazing .
The food was amazing and had the most beautiful quaint atmosphere and we were looking for this type of experience. Lively but not too loud and beautiful evening. The crabmeat appetizer, shrimp pasta dish and feadeua was so so good! Drinks were excellent and service superior! We will be back when we return again!
If your looking for great Spanish food, this is the place to go. The food is amazing and the service is top notch. I highly recommend the paella and the crabmeat tropical appetizer.
Extremely disappointing. There are too many great places to waste time and money on this. We will never be back.
It had been quite a long time since my wife and I ate here . The other couple had never been here . We ordered a myriad of appetizers and entrees . Everyone was pleased with their food . We all ate our savory food and could find room for desert . Very pleasing
