It was disappointing. We have been coming to this restaurant for 20 years, but last night was a low point. While our waitress was outstanding, the gentleman at the front desk was surly and dismissive; later, when he came to refill our water glasses he spilled quite a bit on the table trying to fill my wife's glass, and never even acknowledged that he had done so, and certainly did not apologize.
The food was middling. My daughter's chicken was rather dry and a bit salty, and my filet was so-so. The appetizers were for the most part uninspired; the guacamole that came with the tuna tartare did not taste fresh, and the octopus was so-so. I have to say that the Korean cauliflower appetizer was outstanding.
Wonderful meal-great waiter Clayton. Amazing dessert!
Magical and delicious. We sat outside and there was quite a big rainstorm...that actually added to the already perfect ambiance. The nachos were so surprisingly fantastic too. Everything about this place is superb.
What a gem ! Everything was perfect !
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday at the end of a road trip holiday that took us to the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Monument Valley and Moab. We couldn’t have chosen a better restaurant for that. Log Haven is a beautiful “Alpine” building in the midst of a National Forest in the Millcreek Canyon.
The food was inventive, local and traditional. New American, if you want. Deserts were fantastic.
Our wonderful server was attentive but not intrusive.
You should consider going if in Salt Lake City.
Fun evening, good food! It was for my wife's birthday, but it was good!
Everything was delicious and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had 3 children with us and they were very accommodating!
Food was meh, no AC in the summer and it was feeling a little muggy in there.
Most amazing food and cozy, romantic ambience. It is a full and rich experience.
The food was amazing, the energy in the restaurant beautiful. A must goto destination.
Excellent experience! Crab cake apps were great, and generously filled with crab. Girlfriend's shrimp risotto was reported as excellent with massive shrimp. The halibut was the market fish of the night. It was very good and the shrimp dumplings that came along were incredible. Chocolate ganache did take some work getting the spoon through it. Service was very good, and the ambiance was world class. We dined outside with a piano player strategically placed where both outdoor and indoor diners could hear. Outstanding overall!
Beautiful setting and wonderful ambiance. Try the Elk NY Strip!
Beautiful outdoor dining. Some of the best octopus we’ve ever had. Tasty, inventive cocktails. If we were locals,we’d return again and again.
My wife and I celebrated our 13yr anniversary and it was our first time here and the food the staff and even the music of the piano player made the night perfect.
A wonderful experience and Guy is a superstar. The best venue in Salt Lake area.
Great food. Great service. Beautiful location
Log Haven was an incredible experience. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. Such a beautiful restaurant.
Incredible dining experience with a fantastic setting. From natural waterfalls cascading down within view of the seating to the cozy log cabin facility this place was a winner even before getting to the service and food. But , both the service and food options were also 5 star level. The halibut and bison entrees were fantastic and our appetizers also were terrific. Do not miss the Korean glazed cauliflower. It is worthy of a re-order. Trust me. Our server, Casey was knowledgeable, attentive and very personable. She pulled our experience altogether. Lastly, get the frozen coconut dessert. My wife, who doesn’t like coconut loves this dessert. This is a must go when in SLC.
An incredible experience for our anniversary! Highly recommend sitting out on the patio when the weather permits.
Outstanding dinner, environment, service and cocktails!
The setting is unbelievably beautiful and the food is delicious.
The ambiance can’t be beat - dining on the patio with nature! Very friendly staff, from front desk to kitchen. Food is exquisitely presented and flavourful. The piano music was worth the price of the meal. Awesome evening!
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. Wonderful setting up Millcreek canyon with lush trees and view of waterfall. Log Haven is a cozy log cabin, quiet, and a casual setting for an enjoyable dinner.
Wonderful out door patio, and Elise is by far the heat server that I’ve had in years.
An absolutely beautiful setting in the wasatch national forest. We sat outside in front of a beautiful waterfall. The food was stupendous. We will be back!
Honestly this is one of my favorite Salt Lake restaurants….but the one thing that makes me a little crazy is charging for every glass of soda. No free refills here! It’s over $2 PER GLASS of Diet Coke! GOOD GRIEF!
We did decide to sit outside and left feeling disappointed. It’s just not the same as sitting inside. Lesson learned.
Alpine Nachos are amazing! Shrimp Risotto was good but really rich. Probably wouldn’t get it again but still enjoyable. Filet was AMAZING!!!!
Excellent service my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were there for my wife’s birthday and she thought the views were breathtaking and the food was amazing.
Overall wonderful dining experience! Food was excellent with service to match!
Celebrating 3 July birthdays!
Service could not have been better!
Food presentation and taste was exceptional!
Great dinner and experience. Fabulous forty year anniversary!
New to Salt Lake City, we heard of this restaurant from our friends. We had high expectations going in. The experience from the greeting at the door, wait staff friendly and helpful with food and wine suggestions and writing down places in SLC to visit, to the food presentation then amazing enjoyment of the food, brought the experience far above our expectations. The beauty of Log Haven set in Nature is a spectacular place to be.
Nice ambiance. Fantastic filet mignon (must order). Great service. Highly recommend if you’re in SLC and want to get away from the city center.
Beautiful setting in a historic lodge with a waterfall right outside the dining room window. The fresh fish entree of the day was swordfish that was perfectly cooked and served with shrimp dumplings and a yuzu soy glaze.
The good: The location is gorgeous. The server was excellent. The food was delish…
The disappointing: I had looked forward to a “splurge dinner”‘in an iconic location. It was laughable that they had to call out “water isn’t served automatically, because of the drought” It was so warm in there with no air flow., no way to enjoy a lovely meal when you’re that hot. I understand it was 100+ degrees outside, but it was literally cooler when we stepped outside. The table next to us was loud and there really wasn’t anything about our experience that would make me want to return again.
Very nice setting. Too pricey for value. Good food but too expensive.
The location was outstanding especially during the summer. At least 13 degrees cooler up there than Salt Lake City. There is a waterfall and small park across the street that allows for guest parking.
Our server, Johnny was very friendly, courteous and very knowledgeable of the offerings at the restaurant. We ordered the dungeness crab cakes for appetizer and it was very good. I had the special fish (sea bass) and it was well prepared. However, the pork chop that my husband ordered was overcooked and it was dry. When we told Johnny, he immediately resolved the situation by offering an alternative. It was filet and it was melt in your mouth good. Overall the experience was very satisfying and will definitely come back for another celebration. It was our 42nd wedding anniversary.
Log Haven was the best dining experience that I have ever had. The food was remarkable, atmosphere totally relaxing and the staff top notch.
We had a wonderful dinner. I can’t begin to write about what a good experience we had, the facility is stunning. The waitstaff was extremely personable. While we were only in SLC for two nights this was well worth it and very memorable. Thank you!
The food was excellent. The wine selection was varied and good. Service was terrific. One of our favorite places in Utah. We were there to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Great evening.
Beautiful location we went to to wind up our 2 week vacation in SD, Whom I g & SLC. We had great service, has a varied menu to select from. We had excellent appetizers-salad & crab cakes, excellent entrees - a salmon prep and a shrimp prep & shared a cobbler dessert. We highly recommend this to anyone
