Food was over cooked and salty
Very cute outdoor seating area with nice breeze, heat lamps, and faux grass give it a nice backyard bistro vibe. I had the braised wild boar pasta dish and it was rich and delicious, and the gluten-free pasta (i have celiac, had no problems with the food) was delicious and well prepared.
Cosy. Amazing food - tastes just like you're in LA. Delicious flavors. Great portions. Friendly service. Love this restaurant for a date night!
So cute and romantic
The service was amazing. We were the only table there because we ate at 5pm. Their patio is very quaint and it was nice to be out of the house.
Fantastic experience for my first time trying this restaurant.
We’ve had takeout here a few times during Covid and decided to dine in person for Vday. Premium pricing aside, we were very satisfied with our meal. We started with the beet salad, always a winner! For dinner, my wife ordered the squid ink/seafood pasta, it needed a bit more salt but otherwise it was packed, shrimp, scallops etc.; she would order it again. I ordered the lobster pasta with a light red sauce. The lobster was a little over done but the flavors were still good. That said, I probably wouldn’t order it again and instead order the seafood pasta or the wild boar ragu. We’ve had that before and it is amazing.
Overall, this place is solid. It’s. Casual restaurant with a good wine list and definitely worth adding to your rotation if you’re in the Marina or Playa area.
The food here is always incredible and the staff are on point. That’s a lot to say right now with the continued changes happening to people in the food industry. This place is the best kept secret so please be kind and don’t tell everyone you know about it. We hope their outdoor dining can stay forever, it’s perfect
A true Italian place. It's a secret we are hesitant to tell others about. Great service.
Locanda Positano is always wonderful - our favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant!
They had a pre-fix menu, which was excellent value for Valentine’s Day. We added to the menu, all our food, from appetizers, main course and dessert where delicious.
The portions were very generous. I recommend it to my friends and neighbors. A neighborhood GEM for sure.
We were apprehensive about eating outside in the COVID necessitated parking lot but discovered a “magical” ambiance transformed with small lights and candles and tables for two fenced and curtained off from the surrounding area and soft music unobtrusively drowning out traffic noises from outside. The food was amazing serving outstanding selections with the best burrata with generously shaved truffles, burrata stuffed raviolis in a delicate cream sauce and, again generous portion of truffles ! This is just a sample of what we ate. It was difficult making a choice from the many interesting menu selections for each course. I am citing here some elaborate interesting offerings which we lingered over, including hubby’s black ink pasta with shrimp and clams and my veal Osso buco (had to bring most of it home!) Great 😊 wine selection too❤️👍
Donato and his team are wonderful! I'm so glad that they were able to open their restaurant again for outdoor dining. We'll be back soon.
Prepare to wait even with a reservation. Service was not the best and the food was just okay. Also, they will completely ignore any special request you make. Not the best place for a special occasion.
It was our first time at this family owned restaurant and everyone was very warm, friendly and attentive.
We started with the INSALATA DI BARBABIETOLE and had the RIGATONI AL SUGO DI MANZO and
TAGLIATELLE AL NERO DI SEPPIA for our main entrees.
The TAGLIATELLE AL NERO DI SEPPIA was recommended by our foodie friends. I absolutely love squid ink noodles and they are very hard to find. It is a family recipe passed down by the owner’s grandma.
The outdoor space was very nice and peaceful with plenty of heat lamps. It is located towards the back closer to the neighborhood rather than on busy Lincoln which was a nice choice. I was afraid traffic would be too loud or the chaos shared from the citizen app would be in our face. It was 58 degrees but the temperature was very comfortable without a jacket.
Fantastic authentic Italian food. Owner and son were outstanding hosts. Highly recommend.
We made reservation through your site and when we got there it was CLOSED!
Very disappointed, we love the food at Locando.
The price of the food did not equate to the flavor of the food.
Wonderful food and service. We loved all of the truffle dishes they served!
Very good, fresh pasta! Service was great and they have done a very nice job transforming the outside space to be COVID friendly!
Patio is very enjoyable. The Pappardelle al Cinghiale was delicious and the quality of pappardelle noodles was excellent. The portions are generous and easy to share.
Table too close to the trash can. Smell was not pleasant.
3 star food with 4 star pricing - super basic / standard typical Italian. Nothing much exciting on the menu. I got the Veal Osubuco, it was dry and not tender and was served with super basic sauce that covered up the taste of the meat more than compliment it. It was about $50 for an entree, similar the quality I’d expect from a $25 version of the dish at a mid level establishment.
Location is in a little strip mall shared with a car wash. Seating was outside due to covid, but was in a parking lot facing a washing bay for cars with graffitied walls.
Not terrible but would not return nor suggest. Plenty of amazing Italian nearby at Barrique and Scopa that’s similar in price and much better in taste and ambiance.
we had amazing food and a great ambiance, friendly service
This place NEVER disappoints! Authentic delicious Italian!
I am embarrassed to admit, as locals, it took us 10 years to find this gem of a restaurant. The food is fresh, seasoned to perfection and exceptional. If Octopus Tartar is on the menu, do not miss out. We can see why the reviews are consistently high. Will definitely go again and again and again. New goto place.
We were not sure what to expect with Covid but it turned out to be a fabulous evening.
They created a simple yet exceptional outdoor atmosphere despite being in the laneway. Very tastefully done with twinkle lights and tables with cute cushions. The service was exemplary as always. The food was fantastic. We actually ordered additional portions of the stuffed pasta with lemoncello sauce and the cacio e pepe. However the one disappointing item was the scallops. They were overcooked and oversauced and did not compare as a secondi to my friends osso bucco plate which was awesome. For this reason, I gave a lower rating.
Car wash next door has flood lights beaming on us. But food was great. Maybe more tall plants to block the light?
I absolutely adore this restaurant. The staff in incredibly warm and helpful. The food is absolutely amazing, and I couldn’t be happier that they do both takeout and dine-in during COVID!
Doing great dealing with COVID rules. Felt safe and comfortable. And the food was excellent!!
I drove down to LA to visit my son ,have not seen him in 7 mo.because of COVID
we lived in Santa Monica for 36 years . A dear friend recommend this place to me, so while I was staying at the MDR we decided to try it, it was not disappointing.
I'll return again.. Thanks
Service was subpar. My meal was bland and the shrimp were overcooked. My husband’s chicken was overcooked as well. Considering the price I expected much better.
We loved this small, authentic Italian restaurant. Patrizia provided wonderful service and Michelangelo prepared amazing food that we thoroughly enjoyed. We’ll be back!
My bf and I went for a date night and man was this place good! Every single person that works there is SO sweet, attentive, and overall just knows how to make anyone and everyone feel welcome. It was very delicious authentic Italian food. For pasta as, we got the rigatoni and pappardelle🙌🏼 but you can’t go wrong with anything you order here. We’ll definitely be back!❤️
Waited for 20 minutes before anyone even came over to take our reservations, dessert was brought out before main course, and gelato was served completely melted.
Food was good but was served a bit warm not hot.
We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The food was amazing. We went during Dine LA so the value was great. Every single course was delicious. Staff are knowledgeable and attentive. Great wine selection. We will be back with friends to enjoy the regular menu!
I've been going to Locanda for 8 years, typically only 2 or 3 times a year. Since COVID, this was my first time back. My partner and I went for DineLA which for the price was not a great value. Our dishes had different amounts of food as compared to other DineLA tables and the service was slow and inattentive. Willing to try the restaurant again but the pricing has certainly gone up for what you get/the service.
This place is a hidden gem!!! I’ve been to Positano/Italy several times and this brings me back!!!
The food was nothing special, it was just okay. We ordered the restaurant week menu and they forgot to give us the first course. The fish was full of bones which made it unpleasant to eat.
