I wish I could remember our server’s name - tall blonde gentleman - he was so attentive and so gracious. We adored him!! Despite the cold, everything was amazing from start to finish. Additionally, every staff member took health measures very seriously and we felt so safe being there!!
100% will back.
Great food and drink. Excellent service. Lovely ambiance. My favourite place for outdoor dining during a pandemic. Thank you!
Best service in Toronto - patiently waiting for live music to return!
It was enjoyable meal, they followed by the book with all guidelines by the medical officials. The menu is good and wide for all tastes and sizes. I am glad I went and spent a good day with a good lunch to see family and friends. The patio is very comfortable and spacious by corner of university, valet parking is also available.
Bravo.
We did a small gathering for my friends Bachlorette. It was cute, quiet and a very nice experience. I highly recommend it!
Not that level which expected.
Place was barren
Top notch service! Everyone was very professional and friendly.
Awesome as always. Can't go wrong when going here.
I go to the Shangri-La at least twice a month. My last visit was not good. I had gone there to celebrate a birthday on the terrace with a friend. I arrived and the host very aggressively told me to put on a mask even though we were outdoors and I had not even entered the property. We were literally walking for 3 minutes to a side table where I would have had to wear a mask. Upon seating, he very sternly said "We have a 90 minute time limit on reservations". That was just not the way to start the evening and not a welcoming way to begin a birthday celebration. To avoid the hefty $50 per person cancellation fee, I ordered a virgin cocktail and quickly drank it and told my friend not to come. We went elsewhere for dinner. The Shangri-La is usually a cool place to hangout but the host was just so awful I didn't want to stay.
Great spot!
Wonderful service! 100% would return again. The patio is also very nice and spacious.
Had afternoon tea at the Shangri-La hotel and it was awesome. The space is gorgeous and the piano singer was great. The only thing that was not great were the sweet treats. Because they were celebrating the Chinese New Year all the food was of Asian flair. Some were not good. I will go back though. But only when they have their regular afternoon tea menu.
I went for high tea for Valentine’s Day and had a great time. The staff went above and beyond my expectations to accommodate my dietary restrictions. The pianist played some classic hits and added to the ambience. Would recommend.
Service, food, and ambience were all exceptional. Highly recommended!
It starts with tea selection - I didn’t try each of them and jump to the most attractive one - the special
The sparking one is normal, not very surprising
Overall the food is good: details, good quali
I love afternoon teas, and the tea at the Shangri-La was a lovely take on the experience. The menu was fun and seasonal, and I appreciated the nice mocktail option. It was quite busy when we went, making service a bit slower, but our server was very attentive and friendly. The food was overall quite good, but the sandwiches were a bit stale (again, this could be because of the busier time of year). There isn't a ton of ambiance, as you're in the hotel lobby, but there was nice live entertainment (a pianist) and some tasteful holiday decor.
One of my favourite afternoon tea in Toronto. Located in the lobby of the Shangri-La Hotel. We came during holidays and experienced the Nutcracker afternoon tea. It includes a glass of Prosecco, your choice of tea, 4 kinds tea sandwiches, 2 kinds of scones and varied selection of desserts. The service was impeccable. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu giving us a detailed description of the ingredients of the cocktails, different types of teas, sandwiches and mini desserts. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon with friends. The atmosphere was very relaxing and our table enjoyed the music from the pianist.
We made a reservation for high tea and were promptly seated. Tea was brought out right away and then we waited 30 minutes for our sandwiches
We felt so relaxed and pampered. Thank you!
Christmas Eve tea
A delicious way to celebrate the holidays! Looking forward to returning soon!
The food last year was over the top gorgeous at Christmas but only tasted ok. This year it was still presented well (but less flashy) and tasted excellent so I was happier. Great vegetarian sandwiches. Six desserts. Great service. The reason why I like this venue the least out of all the downtown Toronto Tea places is because it is in the lobby. They have a large fireplace but it does not make up for the constant people entering and exiting a few metres away from the table. I also HATE the weird mannequins that they have enclosed in glass cases in the lobby. It is creepy and I don't want to eat beside a mannequin. This is the most expensive out of all the places I go to and I like it the least. They need better ambiance. They also had minimal Christmas decorations and an ugly Christmas Tree. Food was great though, so it just depends on what you are looking for.
Wonderful experience! Very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere, welcoming and very knowledgeable stuff . design of all the pastries was fantastic.
It was a fantastic experience. Everything was so well thought out
Bridal shopping - was lovely
Lots of fruit flies but the service made up for it. Thank you to Ernesto and Emily. They were amazing.
Absolutely wonderful. Food was excellent, tea was superb and you can't get a better spot to relax and enjoy the live piano and top class service. Highly recommend.
First time experiencing afternoon tea, so first impressions of the Shangri La hotel were of high expectation. From the valet service to getting seated and guided for the tea, it was all done elegantly. Lady serving us was knowledgeable about the menu and the food was surprisingly filling. Would come again if there was a different theme.
Went for afternoon tea. For the amount you’re paying, you should get more ambiance (you’re just in the hotel lobby). Also you get less savoury and scones than most other high tea places. You do get a lot of desserts though. In comparison to other tea places, they didn’t explain anything about the tea varieties. Everything did taste great though!
Overall a wonderful experiece. The sandwiches could have been a bit tastier.
The staff are what make the experience wonderful.
Mother’s Day High Tea
Anastasia and Julien were outstanding and so lovely. Will definitely be returning for hight tea!
King Edward or the Windsor Arms were nicer.
Tea selection - not many to choose from, choices underwhelming. Ambiance - live piano music isn’t offered the whole time, but you’re all charged the same. Lovely lobby not limited to those having Tea, felt like being in a lovely hotel lobby.
Service - very pleasant, but overworked? After 4th request finally got more water, no apologies.
The service was incredibly slow. It took a very long time to put our tea order in with the waitress. It was about 45 mins into our sitting, before any drinks came. Finally after some more time passed, the food came. The sandwiches, although tasty, were very few, and could have been fresher. There were a lot of sweets, some very unusual in flavour and not to our liking. The scones were fresh, however not a classic scone, as one was flavoured w herbs and the other with fruit. The tea was delicious, but due to the slow service, had to ask for a top up of hot water. Overall beautiful ambience, table setting and live piano, but unfortunately would not return. Very high priced and doesn’t feel worth it in the end.
This is my second time doing high tea and found the service and food quality not as good as it used to be. Perhaps the popularity of this has caught on or maybe too maybe discounted coupons are on (think they were on groupon before) but they crammed so many seats and service was lacking. No one came to check in on us after being seated for 5-10 mins that we had to call on someone. The cocktail drinks came after our teas. It took a while just to get water. The food selection seems less than before. For $75 it wasn’t worth the food. More for the ambiance I guess. A novelty thing but I won’t be going back. I could use that money for a better and more food environment.
I have to say Julien tried to make our visit pleasurable with the delay on drinks and food so that was appreciated. Thank you Julien for trying to provide us with a good experience.
My husband & I go there for afternoon tea about twice a year, each time visit has a different experience, I like they change their menu & food presentation from time to time. I would definitely go there again and would highly recommend it for afternoon tea experience.
Understaffed and overrated. Everything looked pretty but tasted mediocre. At almost $100 per person, I expected better from the Shangri-La.
Great location, view, live music, atmosphere, spread and amazing service by Tara and the team!!
An exceptionally lovely Sunday Afternoon Tea experience, was had by my spouse and myself, at the Shangri-La Hotel. Truly, very highly recommend! We were warmly welcomed upon our arrival and soon after seated at a set table near the fireplace. Wonderful view of the pianist playing on the grand piano.
Excellent ambiance with an elegant setting! The current Botanical Afternoon Tea theme is such a highlight and not to be missed! Decadent artisan sandwiches, Snow Maple Tea scones, incredible dessert delicacies were served attractively in tiered plates. We both highly recommend Honey Apple Nectar herbal tea as an accompaniment. Do enjoy the complementary Harmony Cocktail, made with Levenswater Gin! We both highly recommend that you make Reservations and enjoy this highly attentive and fabulous establishment!
