We pride ourselves with having an extensive whiskey & wine list perfect for any occasion and make an amazing old fashioned with a different bourbon or rye barrels that we choose from different distilleries throughout the year.
excellent selection of food and prepared nicely. Not your usual food fun and exciting place to go.
The food here is uniformly excellent. The menu changes quarterly, maintaining some favorites, but adding seasonal offerings. These folks probably make the best soups on the island, always flavorful without being salty. There is always a range of offerings from salads to seafood, pasta to meats, complimented by a wide selection of liquors and wines. Service is prompt, helpful, and low-key, We recommend the bread and cheese appetizer, and the Hen of the Woods salad, Livestock Tavern is our current favorite in downtown Honolulu.
The New England chowder - my favorite - was great. The appetizers were very good. The entrees left lots to be desired. The squid ink pasta was broken into little pieces and was overcooked. The lamb shank was dry and not falling from the bone as it should. The pork chop was massive, but a little dry. The service was not up to par. A dirty, empty appetizer dish was left on the table for the entire meal. Maybe a small thing, but after the less than normally-wonderful entrees, it was noticed. Please...step it up; this has been one of our favorites for years.
Our server was amazing. Attentive but not overwhelming. Her suggestions were perfect and her timing was on point.
The corn dogs, cornbread, and pasta dishes were DELICIOUS!
The food was season, savory and the service perfection. We were made to feel special! The bartender made a bespoke cocktail for our citrus allergy member. There were options for pescatarians and vegetarians. Finally, the corn bread it the best in the world!!! They ran out after we ordered ours but I would have considered ordering more.
Second time dinning at Livestock Tavern. First time, my wife as 37 weeks pregnant. However, this time we got to enjoy a wonderful dinner with her parents and our 5 month old (no, the bathroom does not have a changing table). Bison Corndogs and Brie to begin- wonderful. Filet was perfectly cooked to medium, and the duck was AMAZING. Both pasta dishes were equally delightful. Love the winter menu- the intent behind it hit home. Hat tip from my wife, a chef, with some time in Michelin starred kitchens. We both are coming to favor this place for the good meal you don’t want, but that you need! Mahalo!
Rustic. Quaint. Amazing!! Food was in good size portions and drinks were delicious.
I’ve been to Livestock about 6x and loved it every tine. However, my last visit was disappointing. Seated in the bar area was disappointing because I brought a friend who has never been and wanted her to have a great experience. Instead we sat on hard tall chairs with a table that came up a little too high. The prime rib was recommended, but it was nothing to write home about. “Smoked” is how it is described, but there was no taste of it— it even an essence of smoke. She needed salt because it was bland, but just used the horseradish sauce, instead. My Manhattan stew was ok...but not worth $40. Very little crab, no snapper, lots of bay scallops and carrots. Broth was sweeter than anticipated. I didn’t finish it. I’ll probably return because I believe that this is a solid restaurant and I experienced a hiccup.
Great meat dishes.
Every time so good.
Crab stew is awesome!
A plus service and as always food menu (prefixe menu) served on Christmas Eve was delicious. We enjoyed the whole experience. Very much highly recommended.
The whole family had a fantastic time!! Cheers and kudos to great service!
Always very friendly service and consistently good food!
Chill place. Food was decent nothing crazy. They were out of a few items that I actually wanted to try...
Just know they run out of food, like their prime rib. We went their for a special occasion and although it was specified on our reservation here on Opentable it was never acknowledged so don’t even bother using that part of the reservation process. The overall experience was lukewarm at best. The saving grace was their food. Service was nonchalant and ok. I only recommend going there just to try their dishes.
The menu is varied and creative, utilizing a wide choice of local foods and offering a great selection from unique small plates to hearty classics like filet and prime rib. Service was slow, even on a non-busy weeknight. We waited an hour for any food to appear. After the meal, the server came by with the check, not offering dessert. We loved the food, and good service would have turned this into a favorite restaurant.
One of our favorite places on the island. Food is fresh, wonderful and not over prices. The burger is my favorite of all times. Not kidding. The best burger you will find.
Our Fav place when in Oahu
Excellent food and service. Seasonal menu is amazing and the variety does not disappoint!
Ran out of one of the items on the menu which is my friend's favorite.
I've gone to Livestock for lunch and dinner. If you're looking for a reliable high quality dining experience during and after work, this is the place to go. It's centrally located in Chinatown, provides more privacy than what you would expect, even during the lunch hour, the food is delicious, and service is good.
Everything was just delicious. Great attentive service. Will definitely be going back and recommending to friends.
Excellent food and service away from tourist areas. Would go back. Highly recommend.
Went to Livestock Tavern with my friend for her birthday lunch. I had been there once before and remembered the food was very good, so it made sense to go again for a special occasion. The restaurant was empty which allowed the staff to be extremely attentive. My friend had the salmon and was all smiles. She loved how the skin was crispy and the salmon tender and scrumptious. I had a french dip sandwich. It was wonderful. The prime rib practically melted in my mouth and the au jus was seasoned to perfection. Because it was my friend's birthday, she was served an ice cream sundae for dessert. I know I will be going back and likely very soon.
Great food, love the ambiance. Will definitely return for business and personal dining.
Let me preface the review with the fact that we are repeat customers at this establishment for good reason. They’re typically consistent in the high quality of food provided. This time, sadly, the food was underwhelming. The roast chicken was pale, not at all looking roasted (think soft, slimy chicken skin), and just bland compared to other dishes I have eaten there. Actually compared to every dish, because this was the first time I didn’t like something at Livestock! My husband had braised short ribs, equally bland and unsatisfying in flavor. Again, super uncharacteristic of past meals we’ve had here. Not worth the price at all. We were shocked.
Because service is so good, and we were tired, we didn’t send anything back. It might have been a fluke that night. We will be back, but never to order the chicken or short ribs again.
Perfect except they forgot about the birthday request.
We had 3 servers hovering over us. OTT. Our water was filled after every two sips, which meant we weren’t left alone to enjoy the meal for more than a few minutes. Plates were cleared before food was eaten and without asking if we were done. One of us had our food cleared and a to-go box provided while the others were still finishing their meals. It was extremely rude extremely rushed and extremely annoying. Plus the gnocchi was subpar. Appreciated and enjoyed the Complementary cornbread although that was one of the dishes where the plate was taken away while we were still eating.
Amazing food and cocktails. Creative menu items and nice ambiance.
The service was friendly and timely. All the servers were very knowledgeable on drinks and food. Accommodated our order and recommended great choices
They charged me the wrong amount and the chicken was undercooked.
Best Burger ever; nice friendly service & quiet enough to carry on a conversation
Love the Lobster Roll. Great Team Work among all Service Staff.
Came here on a Thursday night around 9 pm and it was very quiet. The servers were super nice and the food was really good. The portion sizes were huge which was nice for the price. Overall I really liked this restaurant!
Great service as usual.
Fall season menu. Chicken gumbo soup was fabulous.
This place was a stand-out dinner for me and my husband when we were in Hawaii. When making our reservation, we mentioned that we were celebrating our honeymoon, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special (I think three different staff members congratulated us!). We also got lucky and happened to be dining in November, when they were running a special promo of free cornbread for Thanksgiving. That was probably the best cornbread I've ever had--it was savory and sweet at the same time, and it was indulgent enough to feel like a dessert. For dinner, we ordered the tavern burger and the prime rib. Both were delicious--but I'm partial to the burger (my order), which I would honestly rank in my top 3 burgers of all time. Dramatic, I know. But it was faultless! It was cooked perfectly medium well, which was my request, and the bun and the caramelized onions were just...amazing. For drinks, we ordered "Frankly My Dear" and "We Pillage, We Plunder"; the former was lightly sweet and easy to drink, and the latter was coffee-flavored and spirit-forward (which is a good thing in my book :)). I would love to eat here again!
This has become a weekly stop for us. It’s one of my favorites and never disappoints. Absolutely love crap cakes and pastas!
Consistently good is the secret
We have been coming here for sometime, we bite enjoy the service, drinks and the fantastic burger! Unfortunately, we both got sick from the food last night. They offered us a complimentary cornbread. Not sure what it was cooked with but it was saturated with some sort of oil. We both woke up in the middle of the night with stomach issues! We were both worn out from the experience, ruined our weekend! Sad, since we’ve always enjoyed our night out at Livestock Tavern.
We had sandwiches and burgers. All were very tasty. Service was excellent.
