I really wanted to like this place and had high hopes, but we left pretty disappointed with the dining experience (and hungry). To start with the high notes, the vibe is as cute as it looks in photos - chic, contemporary, cozy, and warm. The atmosphere was well curated and many details were well thought out. The ambiance is lovely. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They also had an eclectic and extensive wine list, but the food is where everything fell apart. The menu is pretty uninspired and doesn’t seem to fit the vibe. It feels like it should be focused more on apps and tapas and shareable plates, and shy away from entrees and veggie sides given the bistro style tables and wine bar atmosphere. They do have a couple items that fit that bill, but things like crudo, steak tartare and a fish and lamb entree feel like a miss here. I think shareable (but still elegant) finger foods would be a much better fit. The food we ordered was incredibly uninspired and average at best, and inedible at worst. The best thing we had was the only thing they didn’t make, some sourdough crostinis with one piece of cheese and a few sliced strawberries and honeycomb. The romanesco was blahhh and the lamb entree was really just gross (and also $48). It first arrived almost completely raw on one side, so we sent it back to be re-cooked. It was cooked better when they brought it back out, but the meat was incredibly fatty, really had no flavor, except for being slightly gamey, and the vegetables underneath were covered in a watery green sauce that wasn’t exactly terrible but wasn’t appetizing either. A really horrible dish all-around. We didn’t eat it and the server was very kind and to their credit, apologized many times, offered to bring us desserts on the house to make up for it, and took it off our bill. Obviously not their fault and they did all the right things. I think the menu/food needs a major overhaul and an entirely different approach to match the concept.

Absolutely adorable! The wine was fantastic, and the staff was attentive, knowledgeable and kind. Will definitely be back!

Really enjoyed! Adorable spot and love that it’s connected to Always Hungry market. The food was really tasty, we were excited to have it again after being big fans of the chefs’ food during the Long Story Short days at Vino Carto SB. The salad was described as being an arugula salad on the menu but came out with frisee, a heads up would have been appreciated but it’s the little things. The blackberry crudo was delightful and the romanesco should be a constant on the menu, we devoured it. Loved that you’re allowed to taste before moving ahead with a glass. Great new addition to SD’s restaurant scene.

The Black cod, the octopus and the spring salad were amazing. Great flavors, expertly done. We were bummed they sold out of the cavatelli. It’s a super cute place with a great vibe and lots of outdoor seating.

ADORABLE new wine bar /restaurant in Carlsbad! Food was excellent, very interesting wine selection. Amazing service! They do need umbrellas out front on patio and to Sheild front tables. We had to move bc we were getting blasted by the sun and were seated directly under a speaker playing music so loud I couldn’t hear my friend or the server… Tables in the back are super cute and the music isn’t as loud back there.

Quiet happy with my time spent. It was quite busy when I went but didn’t stop my server from giving me a solid explanation of my bottle pick and remained attentive. Super clean space. Staff is happy to provide solid service. Wine list is definitely cool and adventurous.
