Little Sister - Redondo Beach
relaxed social environment that feels more residential than
restaurant, as if you're being invited into the Chef Tin's home.
Little Sister's menu showcases Chef Tin's take on one of the more
interesting and rich collisions of food and culture that was borne out
of the European colonization of Southeast Asia. Dishes blend and
balance the spices and flavors of Southeast Asia with French
techniques and Dutch and British colonial influences. The menu is
continually and progressively evolving, reflecting inspiration and the
seasons. "Little Sister Redondo Beach offers straight-up, honest, home-style Vietnamese cuisine—the type of food I grew up eating with my grandparents in the San Gabriel Valley.”

The food at Little Sister is always amazing - incredible flavors, plus a great happy hour. Always a good experience!
I had never been here before, so I was pretty excited to try. We were seated a few minutes after our reservation time at a table right next to a heater which was all I really wanted because I was freezing.
We sat at our table for about 10 minutes before someone came to give us water. After another 5-10 more minutes still no server. When we finally got a server over he ‘greeted’ us by listing all the items the restaurant didn’t have available (which I completely understand is due to the fact they would be closing down the next day) but it was an odd way to start off as we had been waiting for a good 20 minutes just to order something. I could tell our server was stressed/ overwhelmed so I did feel bad, but as a server you should always try to be attentive to your table.
Aside from the service, the food was great!
We ordered the Dumpling appetizer, E-fu Noodle plate, and the Salted Cod Fried rice and shared it family style.
*The e-fu noodles and dumplings were my top 2 faves and I highly recommend everyone try them!
Hopefully restaurants can open up again soon & they can serve inside, with the full menu so I can give it another shot.
Pre-lockdown date. It’s fine to be outside, but the vibe at the end of the table lineup was just fine.
Good place to share a casual meal with friends ..unfortunately it feels a little cramped like your sitting in the street due to covid seating. Food is good and service is good
Super tasty food and friendly, enthusiastic service! Can’t wait to go back!
Food was good but no heaters were working so it effected the overall experience.
I've eaten at the Little Sister in DTLA multiple times, and decided to try the Redondo Beach location. They did not disappoint. The staff was pleasant and friendly, they've got a fun WBTG list, and the food flavors knocked my socks off, as per usual for Little Sister. Great job!!!!
Amazing food and super flavorful
The food is always excellent. Outdoor area keeps being approved - I hope it stays after this time passes - it’s really a pleasure to eat outdoors.
Took 60 min to get appetizers after numerous complaints and eventually speaking to manager. Then all food rushed out at same time. Manager comped apps but none one ate it as it arrived with main course
Everything tastes great but may be a bit too heavy on the flavors. It’s personal preferences, though. But overall a great dining experience. Even though it’s quite chilly sitting outside because of Covid. We will for sure visit again because of the uniqueness of the cuisine.
It's a great restaurant. Very nice staff and excellent food.
Little Sister in Redondo Beach has not been open that long, so we'll excuse the tardy waitress. Trader Joe's is right down the street in the mini-mall, so if they are out of wine (which in this case was the pinot noir) you can just go down the street. We were money ahead by doing so (in spite of the inconvenience) as their corkage fee is only $20 and we got a lovely bottle of Meomi pinot for $18.99 + tax. Little Sister charges too much for wine anyway. The food was WONDERFUL, and if they ever get there "act" together on the service, it will be a very nice place to go. My friend took the wine inside to get it open, and she asked what she thought was the manager. He told her that it was the server's job to open the wine. He obviously was NOT management material!!! And Little Sister needs to realize they are VERY close to the ocean (this is NOT downtown or Bev Hills); and when the sun goes down it get very chilly indeed! They absolutely NEED 'warmth' since we're all condemned to eat outside for now. They NEED heaters that give out warmth -- I was sitting with my back to one of their so-called heaters and, believe me, they are just for ambiance -- not warmth -- with flames shooting up at least 5 or 6 feet, they give no warmth, just ambiance! My friend nearly froze to death, her husband claimed he was comfortable but when the wind blew, I could see him shivering. My husband was glad he brought a jacket -- me too!!
Too many tables. The kitchen was backed up. 2 hours
Food was great, service was terrible. Took 30 mins to get our first drink.
Always have a wonderful time here with friends
This place is such a GEM in the South Bay! I was blown away at the service, and the FOOD! WOW! One of the best meals I've ever had in this town. I 10 out of 10 recommend Little Sisters for they ambiance, the staff, the service and the dishes! You will not be disappointed.
Delicious great flavors. Best Restaurant in the Riviera
Awesome food
Great interesting cocktails
Great food and service. Loved dining outside - felt like I was at a French bistro. Lovely attentive wait staff. Dinner was a real pleasure!
Covid limited menu. Lobster not available even though we called and asked in advance. 2 other dishes on menu not available. Waitress was only ok. Seemed resentful of questions.
You can’t go wrong with their cocktails. We had the Imperial Rolls, lemongrass beef and fish. All were flavorful, fresh and delish, especially the fish. Southbay LA doesn’t have enough options for Asian Fusion, so I really I appreciate this place.
Great service. Relaxing during this time of covid. Everything was terrific
Little Sister never disappoints! Obviously dealing with all this Covid nonsense has made it more challenging for restaurants like this and I feel that they are doing the best they can. Can we all just get back inside already?!
Anyway, shifting Little Sister outdoors has its obvious challenges especially in terms of ambiance, however, they have the best with what they have. My understanding is that they have a new chef on site and I have to say, the pork belly never tasted so good. The food is, as always, right on point!
My recent visit was very nice and I will of course be back soon.
We were able to be sat just before the kitchen closed. The staff was very reasonable and did not make us feel intrusive. The food was amazing, service was personal and the outdoor dining was very pleasant with its beach location.
Decided to try Little Sister for Happy Hour. They no longer have a Happy Hour menu, verbal and cocktails only. Ordered cocktails and while waiting for our drinks, I went to use the WC. Coed like so many other restaurants these days. The facility was absolutely filthy, disgusting & dirty.
There was no way we were going to order food after discovering the state of the toilets. Didn’t even want to finish our drinks.
Renee was wonderful!
This place never disappoints. Very imaginative menu, great service and wonderful cocktails.
Off the cuff and absolutely amazing! Not your average Southeast Asian cuisine. The menu and wine list are both intellectually insightful and well curated. A total exploration of the senses of taste, mind, and soul.
Food not as good as we were told. Okra curry was terrible - sour and sweet - didn't taste like curry. Efu noodles were good. And friend pork spring roll also sour - probably the worse we've had and we live in nyc where Vietnamese barely rivals California ones -- its an ok fusion best for white or non asian palettes
Disappointing. This is our fave but the service was poor. Slow. Not organized.
Covid style outdoor dining. Not my fav but just had to go to enjoy resto good food.
Great set up outside with just a few tables, always love their food especially their beef vermicelli.
This was our wedding anniversary dinner. Felt very safe with the health and safety protocol the restaurant had in place. Food was excellent! Only negative/disappointment: I had left a specific note that this was our wedding anniversary. Despite the restaurant knowing this in advance, no mention of is this/no congratulations upon our arrival, during our dinner, after dinner and when leaving. Did not want to make an issue of it in front of my wife but it seemed like an odd oversight and a missed opportunity. In my opinion and experience, the little details matter .
Fun date night! Sat outside. Great time.
Missed this place during the stay home order. We had shaky shaky beef, pork chops and eggplant - every dish was perfect.
We went on a Wed night. I received my food 45 minutes BEFORE the other 3 people in my party & the pork chop I ordered should have taken the longest to cook of the 4 meals we ordered. When I asked why, the waitress blamed it on to go orders, when in fact EVERYONE that arrived AFTER us received their orders and FINISHED eating prior to us receiving our order.
This was our 2nd time coming here & we had such a great experience, that we came back and brought our family. Unfortunately, they were very disappointed & will not be coming back.
My husband & I haven’t decided whether we will be back yet.
Glad they are back open, can only have so much ambiance eating on sidewalk but the forms was spectacular as always. Great service!!
Doing a great job during covid.
The service was atrocious. I understand the current circumstances due to Covid, but we waited too long for our meals while all the tables around us received their orders at a quick pace.
