   We visited mid-afternoon so it was very quiet. We were given a table by a window, with a view across to the Fitzwilliam Museum, which looked very good in the sunshine. We shared a baked camembert to start, which was very good, then had a sea bass and a fish pie (the pie of the day), finishing with a orange polenta cake and a cherry, almond & coconut crumble, all of which were good.

   We had a delightful time with excellent food. We enjoyed the sea bass, a Scotch egg, and tomato and mozzarella gnocchi. We have been before and will certainly come again.

   Unfortunately, the beef roast was “shoe leather” according to my partner and the servers did not provide proper cutlery for a very tough meal to cut and chew. The server also had to keep coming back to ask us about food allergies and about the order itself. I appreciate that that effort was made so as not to get the order wrong, but it did not offer faith in the service. We tend to feel uncomfortable pointing out poor food quality and service so I feel bad we did not bring it up to the restaurant. The chicken meal was good however.

   The outside courtyard is not in the sun, the interior seating area is dark and dismal. The waitress didn’t know what a couple of the food options were when we asked. The food is overpriced for what it is, mine came out lukewarm warm and was sickly and not very pleasant. Not many options on the main menu that made me think wow I would like that. The only plus side to this venue is that you can take your dog with you and the ladies toilets were spotless with nice hand soap and hand cream. I wouldn’t go back here or recommend it as a nice place to eat.

   Fresh, lovely presented food, served by a charming young lady who was so pleasant, and professional. Relaxed setting, not rushed at all,at any point.

   Loved the burger and chips. Great Sauvignon and our waitress was excellent. Very attentive.

   My partner and I were looking forward to visiting The little Rose as we do each year year for our anniversary. Each year, the service, food, atmosphere and the menu was spectacular. The sea food menu which we always loved was all but gone this year which always stood out for us as the reason to choose little rose. Unfortunately this year, we had to leave the restaurant before our food arrived, we waited for half an hour hour to get our first drink, my partner’s drink was wrong, the owner proceeded to confront my partner about it and was very rude, which left my partner having to highlight what part of the drinks menu she ordered from to the owner. My partner ordered a non alcoholic beverage from the soft drinks list as she was not drinking but was given an alcoholic drink. It was a small error which was easily rectifiable, with just changing the drink and apologising, however an unnecessary confrontation ensued and the owner walking away whilst my partner was mid sentence. The pinot Grigio bottle was cheap, tasted watered down. When looking at the make of the bottle we were getting charged £29.30 for a bottle of wine that was £5.33 from the shops the price was overly exaggerated, you could tell by the taste of the wine. We were not offered to taste the wine before proceeding. The staff seemed very apologetic and constantly referred to the owner, but it was the owners attitude towards us and some of the concerns we raised that led us to walking out prior to the food arriving. We kindly offered to pay for our wine however we had to walk out of the restaurant which my partner and I have never done before. We also note the restaurant usually has full tables however this visit we were the only table of customers in the restaurant area, the other table was the owner/manager. We understand delay or miscommunication when busy but when no one else is there to serve this shouldn’t have been an issue. We really do have high hopes for the little rose to improve.

   Food was superb and definitely worth visiting. Only negative was there was just one waitress working on her own. Not sure if lunch was busier than expected but this meant service wasn't as good as it usually is. This could have been a one off though absence of other staff.
