About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Innovative
Little Bull is sincere, nostalgic comfort food, inspired by the palates of first-generation immigrant kids.

Pocho cuisine is not a gimmick. Like Oscar, it’s a little bull-headed, but with no bullshit. It means more than loaded terms like “New American” or “modern Mexican.” And it’s authentic to Chef’s personal experience.

“American food is undefined. But it’s been designated to certain ideas and people. It’s actually evolving, as much as our landscape is a melting pot. As much as my own identity as a first-generation American and chef.”

Pocho started as a term used by people in Mexico to poke fun at the “American” kids who speak Spanglish. At Little Bull, pocho cuisine showcases the evolution of being a chef in America, inspired by every immigrant and their growing influence on our food.

This is a special occasion restaurant, although that special occasion could be Monday night at the bar with a drink and a couple of small plates. Our party of five ordered a lot of small plates for sharing and our server did a great job of pairing tastes and bringing dishes a couple at a time so we weren't overwhelmed and could really enjoy everything. The tuna dishes were especially good but we loved it all. We can't wait for another occasion to visit!

Food was over salted, and very bland. The portion size and quality was horrible compared to the price. Very overpriced. The service was underwhelming.

Our second visit to Little Bull. Again the food and drink were delicious. Oaxca Old Fashioned, e.g., is a nice twist on a classic. We ordered a half chicken as our entree and two small plates as starters. One starter arrived and it was very good and we finished it quickly because, well, it's a small plate. The other starter didn't arrive. After 15 minutes, we asked our server if our second starter was on the way. We heard about how we'd picked an item lower down on the list and the farther down it was, the longer it would take. Oh? That'd be good to know, I suppose. Good thing we didn't pick something at the bottom of the list... we might still be waiting? After another 5 minutes, our entree arrived. The chicken was very tender, moist, well seasoned and flavorful. The fries and salad it came with were good too. We finished the entree. Then, about 10 minutes later the second starter, the Bro-Chetta, arrived. It was good too, but it'd been a long time since we'd ordered it. We ordered bread pudding and coffee for desert. The pudding came out in maybe 15 minutes. No coffee in sight. Our idea was, coffee + bread pudding = delicious. We waited 5 minutes and ate the bread pudding. About 10 minutes later we got... a coffee. So, food was very good, fresh ideas and good flavors. But the although place was only about 70% capacity and this being early early in the evening (7 pm), the coordination of our meal was really off.

I use to enjoy coming to the LB but this last time was not the best. The server kept missing orders and forgot about the last couple of tapas we ordered. I feel the menu need a revamp.

I can't believe we waited this long to try out Little Bull. The food was absolutely amazing. The kitchen paid attention to even the smallest details. Servings were a good size, flavors were spot on, and even the sides and garnishes were absolutely delicious. The service was attentive without being overbearing. Our server was was knowledgeable and friendly. I was incredibly pleased to find a variety of non-alcoholic drink options as well as a well curated wine, beer, and cocktail menu. We are really looking forward to our next visit

My husband and I sat in the enclosed patio. The room was beautifully kept up with dozens of live plants, but it was a little too noisy, and the tables set too close together for the romantic anniversary dinner we had hoped for. What lacked there was compensated by the superb service. It seemed as though the whole staff was waiting on us; our water glasses never went empty. Each staff member seemed to know the menu extensively, and made recommendations given to our tastes and dietary needs. Th food was what I consider eclectic. There was the seasonal dinner menu (the week’s fresh focus was on peaches and corn), an extensive bar menu, and a four-course tasting menu (see picture.) The highlight of my meal was a seasonal, nonalcoholic, THC (there was VERY little), peachy mojito cocktail. It wasn’t too sweet, and it had an indescribable taste full of different flavors that worked together to make something outstanding! This ability to combine different flavors and unique combinations of ingredients carried from the bar into the kitchen. I loved the octopus with butter beans in a Parmesan butter sauce (though the Parmesan made it very salty), and the Tuna Bulgogi, both from the tasting menu. We shared the Churro puffs dessert which also featured house-made guava ice cream which I liked even more than the puffs. Between the two of us we shared seven small plates, and we finished or took home every bit!

I’ve visited three times and had good experiences. They have a lighter menu that’s perfect for sharing, allowing even a 2 top to try 5-7 small plates. Highly recommend trying if you have not.

Wonderful local restaurant with big swing flavors. Definitely a unique take on small plates with a fun layered approach. Great cocktails and desserts to bookend the meal.
