About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
  • Innovative
Little Bull is sincere, nostalgic comfort food, inspired by the palates of first-generation immigrant kids.

Pocho cuisine is not a gimmick. Like Oscar, it’s a little bull-headed, but with no bullshit. It means more than loaded terms like “New American” or “modern Mexican.” And it’s authentic to Chef’s personal experience.

“American food is undefined. But it’s been designated to certain ideas and people. It’s actually evolving, as much as our landscape is a melting pot. As much as my own identity as a first-generation American and chef.”

Pocho started as a term used by people in Mexico to poke fun at the “American” kids who speak Spanglish. At Little Bull, pocho cuisine showcases the evolution of being a chef in America, inspired by every immigrant and their growing influence on our food.

Wonderful local restaurant with big swing flavors. Definitely a unique take on small plates with a fun layered approach. Great cocktails and desserts to bookend the meal.

We had a fantastic experience at Little Bull. The restaurant is small, but has a fun vibe. We shared a variety of small plates, all of which were delicious. The grilled octopus, fried okra, and al pastor skewer were highlights. Service was great, and courses were paced well. There was a DJ there that evening, which made it lively and fun, since the DJ was really good. If you want a quieter dinner, I don't think they have the DJ every night. We definitely plan to return!

Love this restaurant, it has a great vibe inside and on the outdoor patio. The food was delicious, every dish we tried had a beautiful presentation! Our waitress was amazing, and even brought me a birthday drink, decorated my dessert and added a stylish candle to make my birthday extra special! She was super attentive, explained everything well and came to check on us to make sure everything was going well. Thank you for an unforgettable evening!!

One of the best restaurants in the Raleigh area. Food is inventively conceived and looks beautiful when it arrives on the table. Our group of two had the market vibez warm salad, a peaches and tomato appetizer, the gambas a la plancha, a butter beans and fried prosciutto dish, and goat dumplings. The standouts were the gambas, which came with a thick brown sauce and bread to sop it up with; the market vibez salad, which was a great variation on a typical cold salad and came with tzatziki; and the butter beans, which were a bit salty and delicious. We also had terrific service from our waitress. My only complaint is that the restaurant charges extra for bread. We got hit with a $4 charge for pita for the salad and an extra $2 for additional bread for the gambas. (The gambas only came with two pieces for a very saucy entree.) Given the fact that this is a high price-point restaurant, I feel that the owner could be more generous with bread. It is a small thing, but important.

Hands down, my new favorite restaurant in the Chapel Hill/Durham area. I loved all the dishes, full of flavor and each uniquely different from the next. Save room for desserts, the puff pastry and bread pudding are ridiculous!

Overall we really enjoy Little Bull, have been multiple times. This particular visit didn't quite hit the mark for us, but was overall fine. Our waitress was great, very nice, and heard our few complaints and fixed them. However, at one point our waitress was busy, but another server nearby wasn't (the restaurant in general wasn't very busy). I asked him if it would be ok if I asked him for something, and he said, "you already are." That was honestly super off-putting and kinda left me with a bad taste for the rest of the meal. However, it was Father's Day, so I just tried to ignore it for the sake of the celebration. Still don't love it though!

The food was fantastic - the butterbeans and octopus dishes were the two standouts - and our server was great and gave us some excellent recommendations
