Collinsville, Connecticut was built around the Collins Company Axe Factory in the early 1800's. The axe factory closed in 1966, but the charming town remained. The Crown & Hammer Restaurant & Pub was established in 2005 in the old Collinsville Train Depot. Deriving it's name from the iconic symbols of the Collins Axe Factory, the Crown & Hammer's atmosphere and decor reflect the history of the town. John and Lisa Maurer, owners of Lisa's Luna Pizza, assumed ownership in November of 2014. The Maurers brought in Executive Chef Michael Alfled to revamp the menu. The building and interior motif were not disturbed in order to maintain the historical significance of the town.

We came here for my 70th birthday, on one of the coldest evenings in January. I hadn’t wanted to go out, but I’m really glad that I did. We split several dishes...the portions are ample, and each was delicious. Good job!

We hadn’t been back to this restaurant since it can under new ownership a few years ago. We had wanted an early dinner but the only Open Table time slot was 7:45. When we arrived at 7:30, the restaurant was not full at all. The food was a fairly standard upscale pub food, good but not great. I had scallops wrapped in bacon which were tasty but a little greasy. The crab cakes were good. Service was friendly but the kitchen got one of the orders wrong twice. They did take care of that part of the bill.

Had a great time. The band was fantastic. Acoustic Marsh Pit. We had one of the best salads around. (Edemame)

I love old train stations, so I decided to try dinner at Lisa's Crown & Hammer before a show at Bridge Street Live. The food was great (limited menu, however, especially when it came to dessert). The place is warm and friendly, but my server was not attentive. The table beside mine (which had 2 people at it instead of one at mine) had a fabulous and friendly server.

Service was excellent. Had their butternut squash ravioli which was a daily special. Also the cheddar and bacon soup which our server told us was an old recipe from the chef. Both were terrific. Nice old railroad depot atmosphere. Will be back

Nice neighborhood place but tables are VERY close together in fireplace area. Not good if you are handicapped or need space around your table to feel comfortable. Not good for a private conversations. Steaks are some of the best in the area be they a bit expensive. Fish Tacos are always good, cooked fresh, add the $2 extra and upgrade the usual accompanying salad to the Nantucket spinach salad for a nice treat. Riesling was a nice sipping white.

Food was excellent and ambiance was great. Reasonablly priced. Service on the slower side but food made up for it.

Staff was very pleasant, the selection was great, the food was delicious. I ordered the grilled Salmon and I loved it. I am gluten free and the waitress recommended a cider that they had and I loved it. The presentation was nice and the food came out in a timely manner. We would highly recommend this place to family and friends.
