This was our first time at Limoncello and it was not a stellar experience. One of our appetizers showed up after the main course was delivered. The Alfredo sauce on the chicken Alfredo was congealed and lukewarm on the noodles - flavor wasn’t bad, but texture was horrible. On the plus side, one of us had lasagna which was very good and the gelato was tasty. Between poor service and 2 out of 3 main courses being very disappointing, we have no reason to go back or recommend to friends
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry that we did not reach the high expectations that we set for ourselves. We are working hard to provide the quality food and service that we pride ourselves on.
We went to Limoncello on Sunday which turned out to be the last night of restaurant week. The restaurant manager can't use this as an excuse for our terrible meal because we arrived early when there were only a couple of tables occupied. We've been here before, but just like most of our friends, it is always too noisy and usually someone at our table experiences a disappointing dish. They've all written this restaurant off their list but we decided to try it one more time. Terrible mistake!
My husband ordered the scallops scampi. Instead of serving it in a pasta bowl, it came on a large platter. The scallops were good, but the pasta cooled down completely because of the serving dish. He was also surprised about the sauce. Hardly any flavor.
I ordered the chicken marsala. OK...I'm used to restaurants putting a different twist on a traditional dish, but when it says marsala it should include marsala. When it came out it looked terrible! Everyone at our table couldn't believe the items on the plate. The polenta wasn't smooth at all...in fact it was mainly big cold chunks under the chicken. You get a quarter of a chicken without any essence of marsala. When I asked the waiter he said that it is pan fried with a marsala sauce but there wasn't a drop of sauce in the plate. He said he would bring some out. Turned out to be a butter sauce...no marsala.
I tried to cut the chicken but couldn't. I asked the waiter if I could get a steak knife. When he brought me one he said that my dish is usually served with a steak knife. What! Chicken usually doesn't need a steak knife. To add to this failure, the broccoli seemed to have been roasted in the pizza oven. We all laughed when I blew on the floret part and the charcoal-like puffs wafted onto the tablecloth. When I asked the waiter to take the dish away, he totally agreed that it wasn't prepared properly. By the way, no manager came by to extend apologies for a ruined meal.
We are sorry that we failed to deliver on the high standards that we set for ourselves. We will use your experience to make changes so that this does not occur again.
My wife and I made reservations for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were looking forward to a nice, relaxing, romantic environment to enjoy a delicious meal together. When we arrived, the restaurant was mostly empty and we were seated immediately at a table for two by a window overlooking the street. Unfortunately, the valet parking attendant was stationed on the sidewalk just outside . . . right in the middle of the window. Not romantic. We ordered cocktails, an appetizer, and 3-course meals. The appetizer arrived first, then the drinks, each delivered by separate wait staff. Then, even before we were part-way though our drinks and antipasti plate, the waitress arrives with our first dinner course. It felt as if we were being rushed along much too quickly. Not relaxing. The balance of the meal was presented and consumed without incident. The food was very good, but expensive, given the simplicity of the recipes. Ultimately, the responsibility lies with the restaurant Management. Attention to detail and attentive service are both opportunities for improvement.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We use our guests comments to improve our business and to help reach the high standards that we set for ourselves.
We went during restaurant week because it fell on my Birthday as a bonus or so we thought. You get 3 for $35 and my favorite entree was on the menu Salmon Picatta. It was tasteless and the pasta was all stuck together in a big clump. I rarely complain but this was awful. Our waiter was wonderful and brought it back and got me a fresh one, same thing! I didn’t want to complain again so I asked fro some lemon wedges to flavor it. It didn’t work. I was really disappointed and On my birthday. It was disappointing to say the least. The kale soup was delish btw but at a regular cost of $6.00 and salmon Piccata $26 ....it meant you paid $3 for a dessert. No great deal there for sure. Won’t go back. Never saw a manager. Highly disappointed.
We hate to disappoint anyone and for that we are very sorry. We will use your feedback as a way to make ourselves better and to ensure we are always providing the best food and service.
Soup was over salted and unexpectedly spicy - I don’t like spicy. Disappointingly, they forgot to add the beans. The fettuccini alfredo was delicious. Homemade pasta ribbons were silky. Chicken couldn’t have been any more perfect. The tiramisu was good, but I’d have preferred it to be served with a spoon given that mugs are rounded. Also, it was better the next day since the lady fingers were allowed to soak up more coffee, maybe. Can’t wait to try other things in the menu!
I'm glad there were so many things you loved! Thanks for your suggestions!
The food was disappointing this time, and the chocolate cake was dry. Probably try one more time since the last time was quite good; maybe the understudy chef was on this time?
I love the whole experience here. The food is terrible, the service outstanding and the ambience is romantic. I love the flower gardens in the summer. When you go, ask for a table in the back room next to the window. Quite beautiful.
Second visit and won’t be back. Pasta is absolutely pasty and overcooked. Expensive for what you get
Great food. Best calamari in Greenville
Made a reservation via Open Table for 9pm. Showed up at 855pm and the hostess tells me they are closed. walked to Jianna and had an amazing meal!
It was great last time but uninspired this time. The menu didn’t change, there were no specials and everything was just average. Needs to step it up!
Seated in back of restaurant. Lighting was too bright. Music very low. Created for a cafeteria style dining atmosphere. Service was slow, food was mediocre for the prices. Too many other great dining options in Greenville to have this average of a dining experience.
It was great.
Have never been to a worse Italian restaurant. Would not reccomend.
The service was very slow! It wasn’t crowded at all and it should never have taken as long as it did to get our drinks, and the food was mediocre. Overpriced for pasta dishes. Won’t be returning.
Ate here for Sunday lunch. They were not crowded, so it was quiet. Great, friendly service. Food was good, had the personal craft pizza. Nice experience.
They had us in and out so we weren’t late at the Peace Center. Everything was delicious and everyone was thrilled to have been introduced to one of my favorite spots to eat!
We had a pleasant surprise. The service was amazing. We had tickets for a show at the Peace Center so we had a time constraint. They have a theater menu. The food was really delicious and came in enough time that we weren't rushed at all. The best salmon I've ever had, cooked to perfection with slightly crispy edges.
Food was just fair, there are a lot of other better restaurants in greenville for the money.
I had the capellini with shrimp and there were a good number of shrimp. However, I would have liked more sauce on the pasta, as there was not that much. It was too dry. My husband had the lasagna and the portion was huge. He thought that needed more sauce also as it was a little dry. We enjoyed it the next day, with some extra sauce we added. We loved the calamari. One of our friends had the scallops and she thought they were perfect.
Dinner before the beautiful performance at the peace center. It was delicious.
Everything was wonderful except the bathrooms were very dirty.
It was a wonderful main course...salad was so so...restaurant well located in downtown. Close to the Peace Center.
It was NYE, so we kind of expected it to be loud and it was. Our waitress, Caroline, was superb. It was her first day at Limencello... how lucky for us! What a delightful personality and professional demeanor. We've had some terrible wait staff in the past. My husband and I shared a bottle of wine, calamari, a tomato/burrata salad and each had our own pasta dishes. Delicious! We will be back for another great meal, but only if Caroline is working and we can be seated in her section!
From the very start this wasn’t a good experience. We ordered prosecco, it was served in wine glasses. Music was playing very loud, we mentioned it but it was never turned down. Bread arrived with olive oil and - new fad that needs to disappear ASAP - a huge splash of balsamic vinegar. Since when do I want to dip my bread in a:salad dressing? Ordered ricotta toast and carpaccio for appetizer. Ricotta toast should not be an appetizer, weird combo and way to big. Carpaccio was good, but didn’t have a drop of olive oil on it. My husband ordered glass of red Tuscan blend. Beside the fact that it was not the right temperature it also tasted funny. Our waitress was nowhere to be found so we caught the eye of what seemed to be the manager. He seemed surprised about the wine but did take it back and brought another glass..he said they opened another bottle and this glass should be fine, he tasted it. Well, if he did he should have known that it tasted exactly like the first one. Our waitress changed it out for a different wine and this one was much better. My husband’s pizza was very soggy (obviously not a good night for him...) I had the crispy calamari, it was quite good. When the ‘manager’ cleared our table he started another discussion about the wine...acting like we had no idea what we were talking about (we actually do, but I’ll save that for another review). We also mentioned the undercooked pizza..another surprised look...what ever happened to ‘the customer is always right...’??? It was taken off the bill, though.
We had high hopes because the restaurant had come recommended by several of our Greenville friends, but obviously we will not returning here anytime soon!
All entrees were significantly less than expected. We had lasagna(had a burnt pizza crust on bottom and very little sauce, cheese or sausage), cannelloni (angel hair pasta over cooked) and Margarhetta Pizza (crust too tough to chew). Also romaine salad had significant pink rib. Definitely WOULD NOT recommend to anyone.
It’s a great spot and the food and ambiance were both outstanding. A little pricey but there’s a large range so will fit most budgets. We also took home enough lasagna for an additional meal to share so that was a bonus. We’ll go again for sure.
Long wait. Food was average at best.
Limoncello has greatly improved with the new management & menu options. We are frequent guests there and try to visit here on each of our visits to Greenville. The food is first rate and well done and we can't say enough good things about the service we have always received. I would never hesitate to recommend this place to anyone for lunch or dinner. It has the best Calamari of anywhere we have ever been and is a must for an appetizer. So for those who haven't been in a while because they were disappointed by the way things were, I would strongly urge you to give Limoncello another try. The management & staff will do all they can to make sure your experience at Limoncello is everything you want it to be. I can't recommend it highly enough.
First time visiting Greenville. Truly enjoyed our meal and experience at Limoncello!
We were seated right at the door and had our reservation for almost a month but the food was very good.
Ralph, thank you for your review. I'm happy to hear our food was to your expectation! We do offer several seating options and are happy to accommodate you anywhere you are most comfortable. Please give us a call next time you are hungry for some delicious Italian food and I'll make sure you get a "primo" seat! David Estling General Manager
The service was terrible from beginning to end. It was as though, we walked into an Applebee’s. The drinks we ordered had no liquor in them and no garnish, and three of us got mixed drinks. One of the patrons had to send their pasta dish back. Pasta was way over done, shrimp was not cooked and the cream sauce had broken...although, apparently it’s prepared ahead of time. Our pizza was barely done and lacking flavor. Frankly, I’ve had better pizza at every fast food pizza chain. If I could give the visit a “0”, I would. The fact that I had to pay for this horrible meal is even more disgusting.
Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to speak with me on the phone. I appreciate any opportunity to improve our culture and our cuisine at Limoncello, and I personally take reviews very seriously. I apologize that we didn't live up to our own expectations and let you and your guests down on the 21st. Feel free to reach out anytime if you would like to discuss further reservations. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, David Estling General Manager
nice place to enjoy dinner. close to center stage theater
Thank you for the review Bob! Close indeed...right next door! Did you know we offer a 3-course Theatre Menu geared specifically for our friends attending Center Stage and Peace Center shows? $30 includes a choice of soup or salad, entree, and 'walking gelato', or upgrade to any dessert you like for an additional $5. We look forward to seeing you on your next show night out. Salute!
This restaurant is fabulous. Hand made pasta, wonderful recipes on a menu not too cluttered with choices. It has a nice contemporary, city vibe with an old world feel with its wood and white table cloth décor. Casual dining with high-end quality.
A very flavorful meal, authentic seasoning, and attentive service. We will certainly return.
Thank you for the review Fred! We look forward to your next visit!
Atmosphere top notch, especially away from cold air entering front door. Food flavor good and ample servings. However, very poor service for a top-level restaurant. Wrong size plates, wrong utensils, slow order taking, slow recognition that we’re at front waiting for recognition, etc..
Thank you for your feedback Mike. I have addressed these issues with both our host and service teams. I have also made sure the kitchen received recognition for their hard work as well. Please give me a call if you would like to discuss further. I look forward to hearing from you soon! David Estling General Manager 352-672-2475
Anniversary dinner. No bread came until asked for. Problem with bill. All problems fixed but staff was definitely overwhelmed. Would go again as I have had much better experiences there.
Thank you for your feedback. Our bread service is an important step in creating a memorable evening and I have personally addressed this issue with the staff. Please give me a call when you are ready to make your next reservation to ensure a perfect evening. Salute! David Estling General Manager 352-672-2475
The food is incredible! Great service everytime we go! Definitely a go to for date night!
Food was quite underwhelming compared to prior visits. I will not be interested in returning. Service was fine.
Im so sorry to hear the food was underwhelming on your last visit. Please feel free to reach out if you have any plans to give us another try in the future so we can deliver a truly 5-star experience. Salute! David Estling General Manager 352-672-2475
We arrived and were seated within 5 minutes. The server was polite; however, the service was somewhat slow. We had a show to get to (as did others) which may help explain. I ordered the scallops which were some of the best I’ve had. Great Gelato for dessert. Overall a very good experience. We will be back.
Thank you for your review! We strive to take special care of our show goers as we know you have a limited time to enjoy your meal and feel comfortable getting to the show on time. The diver scallops with house-made linguine is one of my all-time favorite dishes too! Did you know we also make all of our gelato in house as well? I can tell you from first hand experience it is a total labor of LOVE! We look forward to seeing you again very soon! Salute! David Estling General Manager
