Try the daily quiche or the prime rib steak at the Liberty Bar for a familiar American dish that is hard to beat when paired with one of the many local artisanal beers on tap. Enjoy grilled fish of the day with kale chips or come in for happy hour and indulge in an order of a chile relleno with your drink.

I love Liberty Bar and
Food took almost an hour to come out and by that time it was cold. Very disappointed with my first experience at this place. Came in for Saturday brunch with my girls and we were starving. The wait made it even worse. Plus the portion is bleh.
Outstanding service and excellent food. A real gem on South Alamo.
Great location and cute vibe! Food is delicious, no matter what you get!
It was good
Love the pot roadt
Always an excellent dining experience!!!! Good food and never disappoints...
Wife enjoyed the Eggs Benedict that are the best in town. I tried the Pasta Luego (of the day). Tasty with the swordfish but would not order again.
We visited for Valentine’s Day and for my mom’s birthday. Service was great and every single dish was delicious. I’m definitely adding this place into our regular restaurant mix.
Food was great and service was good. Waiter was not too friendly but did fill our coffee and water regularly. The music was a little too loud for morning brunch. But overall we had a good time with our friends who had never been there before.
My husband and I were in San Antonio on vacation, and found the Liberty Bar through Yelp. We arrived early and sat at the attractive bar on the second floor. The main dining room is on the first floor. The history of the building is fascinating – it was once a convent and mental institution. The owners have left most of the building intact, and have added some fun, attractive updates like wallpaper and lighting that make it quirky yet cozy. Our server was excellent - friendly and professional - especially in light of the fact that she was the only server, and faced a rush of two large groups and four smaller ones all at once. We started with the delicious roasted garlic, which came with large, crusty slices of bread. I had the Magic Salad with asparagus and portobellos, and my husband had the pot roast sandwich. The food was fresh and attractively presented. The chocolate cake we split for dessert was a bit boring (but good) and overall I recommend this restaurant.
Loved the unique place. Yummy food and great staff!!!
The food was good, the reservation process went well, the music was fun.
Our favorite casual brunch place in Central Texas. Food is 100% freshly made and servers know their business. We met the owner Dwight for the first time and complimented the entire operation. Worth our 70 mile drive for a meal every time.
This place is a favorite. The food is always good, service is great, and atmosphere is eclectic and fun.
Enjoyed a great evening of great food. The steak melted in your mouth and the pork chops were cooked perfectly. The service is attentive, & the No.6 drink was excellent. Everything was good and look forward to the next time.
We were having a stay in the King William neighborhood on vacation to San Antonio and Liberty Bar came well recommend!
It’s in an old home converted to a convent, converted to a restaurant and bar. The food was well prepared and service efficient.
We had Sunday brunch and a Monday dinner and both were very well priced , tasty and clean.
The menu is pretty eclectic - it was hard to decide on so many great choices. Fun music.
For the dinner we have the smoked fish appetizer plate and I had the Chili Relleno for my dinner. Both were very delicious. I highly recommend either.
It is an old house with wood floors with ceilings and walls so the noise does carry a little bit- if you’re super noise conscious.
Service leaves a lot to be desired. Service leaves a lot to be desired. Service leaves a lot to be desired.
We love restaurants to have a history. Good food , excellent prices , and good service in the cool setting- good music too. We went for a Sunday brunch but their lunch and dinner menu looked very good
We went to Liberty Bar for three 2nd time in a month and loved it. Service was great, our waitress was sweet and I love the ambiance!
My friend & I went for brunch, we both got the french toast, and the rosemary fried potatoes and cheese platter to share. The french toast is not your regular french toast, it's extremely dense and a little dry, which was not the type of french toast I was looking for. The potatoes were okay, several of them were under cooked and there wasn't a lot of flavor to them, the rosemary was added as a garnish, that's it. The cheese platter was okay.
Went to brunch on Sunday with six people we reserved ahead of time and they had a table ready for us I had an omelette special and a latte. My food was excellent. My friends liked their food too. The decor is lovely. Fortunately they have an elevator To the second floor as one friend has difficulty with stairs. We kept talking for a long time but our waiter did not rush us. I will definitely return.
Dinner was nothing to write home about. Both of our appetizers were not too tasty. One was almost an entire bowl of Serrano peppers. The pork chop plate was super bland and so was the lamb plate. My old fashioned was way too sweet. Overall would not recommend this place for dinner.
My favorite place for salmon. The cilantro pesto is amazing.
Decent brunch menu but nothing truly remarkable! We sat next to an extremely noisy table.
The environment is casual enough yet dining experience is great when you want to spend a nice evening together with your special someone. The food choices, including the appetizer variety make it even more appeasing.
Chicken was dry
Delicious, especially the goat cheese appetizer.
Enjoyed our meal. Only quibble - it came up on "Open Table" search as a Mexican restaurant & has very limited Mexican menu items.
New Year’s Eve dinner
Will not return
My houseguest & I went for Sunday brunch. The "custardy French toast" sounded delicious. It was served in less than 2 minutes, before the side of bacon & drinks. We'd said we were sharing it, but had to request an extra plate & received 2 small bread & butter plates. We sliced the toast ourselves & it hung over the side of the tiny plates. We also had to request butter. Sadly, the French toast was dry & stale, not custardy & not even warm. I offered this feedback to the server & she explained how they were made all at once, early on, & kept on a warming tray all morning. There was no acknowledgement or gesture to make it better. The room was loud & hard to talk in. It was especially disappointing because I'd heard a lot of good things about Liberty Bar, but I will not return here.
Food was great as usual. Noise was a. Bit loud.
Good just loud
Excellent service, friendly, and always consistent!!
Great location if you're ok with something a little out of downtown (which is nice if you want a place with parking). It's a nice mix of standard fare with some local flavor all prepared with a gourmet twist. Definitely recommend! Great staff too!
We enjoyed our Sunday brunch while visiting the city. Liberty Bar was recommended to us and we are glad we gave it a try. The neighborhood is historic charm and the food was fresh and flavorful.
The ambiance was amazing, I love the interiors, the music, great light, library cool...We had brunch and I thought the price was right with great deal on drinks. My boyfriend had the steak and eggs which he loved, I had the omelette special. I loved the toast and homemade jam. The only thing I would improve on is the side potatoes were a little on the not so fresh, soggy side. Other than that excellent!
Great experience except poached eggs in eggs Benedict were poached hard rather than soft
LB has lost its quirkiness since moving to this 'new' location many moons ago. The food and drinks are still very tasty. We visited on a Wednesday night and it was very quiet. Service was not very attentive due to one wait staff member serving multiple tables despite an otherwise empty establishment. She was friendly when we had her attention. We didn't get that good, "I've got an eye on ya." feeling.
I am a fan of Liberty Bar and that is why I chose it when I had guests from out of town come in for a visit. Needless to say I was quite embarrassed with the food and even more when our guests were the ones treating us. The food was served cold! Our orders consisted of huevos rancheros, chilaquiles and the waffle. It was partially remedied with another serving of warm potatoes. I will not be going back anytime soon nor will I recommend until I can go back and assess if things have changed. Feedback is a gift.
