We are offering a special lunch and pre-theatre menu. £24 for 2 courses and £28 for 3 (plus service). It is an amazing bargain and ideal for pre-theatre bookings.

L'Escargot is London's oldest and most celebrated French restaurant serving classic French dishes. Favourite dishes include French onion soup, Lobster bisque, oysters, Tournedos "Rossini", Confit of Duck, Chateaubriand and of course snails ! L'Escargot was voted one of the most romantic restaurants in London and is a perfect spot to celebrate a birthday or anniversary.

If you want to come in just for a drink, upstairs there is a great cocktail bar with reasonably priced cocktails and a bar snack menu.

The restaurant has welcomed celebrities such as Coco Chanel, Charles de Gaulle, Maurice Chevalier, Laurence Olivier, Lucien Freud and Francis Bacon. and was a favourite of Princess Diana

L'Escargot is located close to all the major West-End theatres, which makes it an excellent pre and post theatre dining spot.

                          We had the tournedos rossini, and it was probably the best fillet I've had. The sauce it came with was amazing. Outstanding food. And a very nice birthday chocolate treat to celebrate the occasion. The queen Anne's revenge (rum cocktails) we could have drunk all evening.

                          Great food as always. Sunday roast beef is delicious. If you want a nice table ask to sit in the front. We were at the back and to be honest the ambience is not so nice there. They tried to move us but there wasn’t a suitable table for us. Our biggest bugbare in this occasion was that the waitress insisted on removing our plates as soon as we finished even if other members of our party had not yet finished their food. In our view, this is just bad manners! Certainly not something that we expect from a high end restaurant and not something I would have expected from L’escargot where we have eaten many times before. I think it’s perhaps an American thing (they tend not to like to sit in front of dirty plates) so perhaps our waitress had trained there! Otherwise, all was good and we’ll be back again.

                          We had a lovely lunch yesterday to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We usually come for dinner but thoroughly enjoyed Sunday lunch. It was really good value for money and the Sunday menu had a very good selection of dishes.

                          Given its heritage, the food was disappointing. Pâté was good as was the onion soup. However Bouillabaisse and Soufflé were definite lows. Former looked unappetising and fish was overcooked, none of the table could finish the latter. Shame for such a great establishment.

                          The duck confit was a bit too dry for my taste, and the ribeye sauce was quite greasy, which masked the natural flavor of the meat. The oysters had a strong fishy smell, which made them hard to enjoy.

                          Pre fixe menu, excellent choice, good portions, great value. Service friendly and excellent. Not rushed. Lovely ambience. Calm from the manic outside. Excellent wine list to suit all pockets. Will definitely return.
