Decor is lovely and hip, but the overall restaurant experience was disappointing. The service was spotty at best, even though very friendly. While we were waiting we were asked by waitress if we would like some bread and butter, which we accepted, but realized once we received the bill there was an $8 charge. It would have been good to have been told this ahead of time. The steak was cold upon arrival, and we had to ask for steak knife and ketchup three times, before they were delivered. Shrimp and scallop dish was not flavorful.

Saturday night and too many bridal parties in town! Drowned us out completely!! Soo sad, and not really the restaurants fault but a big bite out of the event. Service was quick and hurried and I felt a tad unwelcome but guess the staff was overwhelmed. Food was good but not spectacular. Brussels sprouts were fantastic if you like sweet maple syrup. A tad overdone there. Charcuterie board was nicely appointed and the small was large enough. Would go back to try the fried chix. Looked fantastic. Portions are large shareable events!

The Mgr was extremely nice and knowledgeable. Small pours on the white wine. The Brussel Sprouts were too sweet for a veggie. We will try it again.

First tried this place for their chef’s multi course seafood dinner. It was fantastic from service, cocktails, creative food - just amazing. Recently took my monthly food group there for what I hoped would be a real treat. Unfortunately our server seemed preoccupied- never checking on how our drinks were for starters. I ordered a dirty martini. Upon delivery, it seemed the olive juice had been left out. I had to wait at least 5 minutes before I could get her attention while friends looked on feeling guilty for enjoying their drinks. When she brought it back the second time, she didn’t wait to see if it was ok (it wasn’t) and I had to catch her attention once again delaying my ability to relax. It went on far longer than service should take at a fine restaurant like this. Most of us ordered salads and sides to share. The arugula and pear salads were yummy, and huge. As we had asked many questions about sharing and such, we all felt it would have been helpful to know ahead of time. Our server never connected with us and I left feeling much less enthusiastic about the experience the second time around.

Came here for a New Years Day Brunch, was a bit hard to find, but in a really cute, happening, location. I made a reservation for a high top table at 1pm, which seemed reasonable, and was on time, only to find that the high top tables were full. Was told that a table would be available within "10 minutes" but my husband and I noticed everyone at the hightops had just been seated. The service was incredibly slow. Sat at the bar at first (bartender was fast) but when we got to our table, we waited 15 min for our waitress to show up, and had to ask one of the busser's if we could get some water (after asking our waitress). I got a delicious egg sandwich, but my husband was disappointed in the poutin fries he ordered, they were supposed to have a runny egg on top but ours was served with a hard sunny side up egg. Maybe the services would be a bit better any day but New Years Day. Would give them another shot.

Wonderful food. We really enjoyed the fried chicken and brussels sprouts. That service left a little to be desired. We werent addresses by anyone, even for drinks, until our whole party was there. Then we had to hunt somebody down to place our order.

Great foot and service, and nice selection of wine thought some of it is quite over-priced so you have to pick around to find a reasonable bottle. Also good location right in Funk Zone.

The food was wonderful! We were really pleasantly surprised. And of course the wine list is wonderful. It was a shame the service fell considerably short. They will taste your wine here, and not even the wine director, but your server. Without consulting us they proceeded to decant our wine (which we definitely did not want them to do) and put the wine behind the bar on ice (which we definitely did not want them to do). We finally had to ask to have our wine, which only then do they taste you on. Which seems redundant seeing as they’ve already drank it. Our food unfortunately came out wrong, share plates we had ordered with dinner came out as entrees. Disappointing, especially with an expensive bottle and food that deserves better representation.

Strange place! The menu is extremely odd and does not work well for a wine bar type establishment. The choices are strange because of the mix of ingredients and they just do not go well together! As a well travelled European this place lacks something and because of that, the menu is trying far too hard to be different and as a result is confused and lacks cohesion. I do not recommend this place at all it’s neither special or memorable.

We wound up at Les Marchands by chance after another dinner plan imploded and we so thoroughly enjoyed our visit. What a delightful find. Our server was so helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Everything came out of the kitchen looking a tasting divine. The Brussels sprouts were a hit as were the marinated mushrooms. The drinks were excellent and creative, the wines superb. We'll certainly be going back.

A great experience as always. My friend and I had the shakshuka, which is delicious. We only had coffee this time, but they have an excellent wine selection. I don't think I've tried the cocktails yet, but they sound good, and include a selection of original recipe historic drinks. The patio was perfect for quiet conversation.

Our first time at Les Marchands (though we had heard good things about it in the paper and from other friends.) We enjoyed a lovely table out on the patio and were unexpectedly treated to an impromptu short set of music by Kenny Loggins (who lives in SB and sometimes does these things.) The food was uniformly delicious from the get-go: a bowl of the most wonderful Castelvetrano olives in a spicy/garlicky oil and a charcuterie platter that we all shared that was plentiful and with just the right combinations of sweet, savory, and salty notes. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly mid-rare and came enveloped in a slightly sweet, mostly savory/flavorful sauce. Wine was a little pricey, even for SB, but otherwise it was a hit. We'll be back! On a night with no live music, it would be a moderate noise level or even quiet, probably, but the music (and the music maker) made it an energetic evening.

We hadn't been back to Les Marchands in years, and what an elevation in the eating experience has happened in those intervening years. The setting outside is lovely on a beautiful Santa Barbara evening, but it was outshone by the food and drink. Wise and tasty selections on the wine menu enhanced our choices for dinner, which were: zucchini flowers stuffed with housemade Boursin (unbelievably delish!), an olive and cheese nibbler (the best olives ever!), and the lamb meatballs (perfectly spiced!). Please don't think the inclusion of exclamation points are the result of immature exaggeration. The food here deserves each and every one. Though I did think the meatballs were a little dense and prefer my lamb (like my hamburgers) with a higher fat count for both moisture and tenderness. But nothing could diminish the gustatory high from the sauce. Our wait person was personable and responsive as we shared our love of tapas in northern Spain. The only problem I foresee with Les Marchands is returning and not ordering exactly we had in this meal.
