   We ate on the rooftop! It was so nice! Great people watching and nice and quiet up there! Perfect service, delicious food, great view! We love Leones! It’s our go to for shows at the Chrysler!!

   We are frequent diners at Leones and often recommend it to friends who are looking for a good restaurant in town, however, last night we wanted to celebrate Mother's Day a bit early. I wasn't at all surprised we were seated in what equated to a coat room, behind the hostess station (I am often seated in the worst places at Leones, but overlook it because of everything else). It took a while before we were even approached by our waitress, who was covering our area of the restaurant, but also the first floor patio Because of the distance she had to travel to wait on her tables our service was slow; I had to flag her down to ask for another glass of wine for my husband and inquire about bread. We heard several excuses about the bread being slow that evening, but we finally received a basket after our dinner was served. My husband finally got a second glass of wine during dinner. Several times the hostess saw me looking around for our waitress, but never came over to ask if we needed something. It seems Leones wants to be an upscale restaurant, but not willing to work for it (i.e. Byrd and Baldwin). We can excuse poor service, especially when it appears due to the poor management of waitstaff placement, however, what we could not excuse was poor quality food. My chicken piccata was dry (chicken and pasta). My husband said while the sauce was tasty, his chicken had the rough texture of the kind you might buy at a discount grocery store; my mother in law, ordered the veal; she had to cut off quite a bit of gristle and fat, because of the poor quality of meat. We often frequent places like Luce or Aldo's, so we expect the highest quality ingredients and service. In the past we have received that from Leones, but it has become too factory like and their are clearly too many sections of the restaurant to cover for the waitstaff who look harried and pulled in way too many directions. We won't be returning.

   We have been coming here often when we have a show at Chrysler Hall. Leone’s has always been very good. Last night it was terrible. We sat on patio, very nice. It took 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. A long time for our appetizers. My caprese salad had a least a tsp of salt on each piece. I sent it back. My husband’s salad was fine. Our entrees were not good either. My husband’s chicken cacciatore was very dry and the chicken tough. My salmon piccata had no sauce only dry salmon. There was a server shadowing our server and if not for her we wouldn’t have gotten anything. Very disappointing.

   We were seated at 6:00 with food and drink orders placed by 6:20. We had a show at Chrysler Hall right across the street at 7:30, so I felt this was plenty of time before that started to have a quick dinner on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was clearly not staffed or managed well from the start. It’s unclear exactly where the problem is, but by 7:15, the food had still not arrived. We had to find the waitress to get the manager to cancel our meals so we didn’t miss the show. They still made us pay for the drinks and appetizer (burrata, which was 3 pieces of crostini for lots of toppings). There was apology from the waitress, even when we acknowledged “we know it’s not your fault.” The manager seemed indifferent, but did take down my phone number. We’ll see if they reach out or not…

   When we arrived a dead bug was in the plate under the napkin and the plate had dried pasta around the rim.

   My wife and I always enjoy our experiences at Leone’s! From the freshness of their food to the warmth of their service, we enjoy each visit to this restaurant.

   Great food, atmosphere & service. We had a wonderful Espresso Martini & the lasagna. Both were excellent.

   Nice higher end Italian restaurant with a casual energetic vibe. we loved all our dishes including a special of rockfish with sundried tomatoes, Salmon Picata, roast duck and table appetizers. The pricing was a little higher than other options. Parking is available across the street for about a dozen cars. there is a dress code so do go completely dressed down.
