Here we cook to perpetuate, honor and evolve the cuisine of the rural, agricultural South, and we back it up with hospitality that buys into the idea that food with a story tastes better. Named for Vivian’s home county in eastern North Carolina, LENOIR exalts the pillars of Southern hospitality and leaves people feeling like they are guests in our home rather than patrons in our restaurant.

The service was really bad from the moment we got there until we left. I was very surprised because the restaurant came with very high ratings from friends and family. The bartender seemed like he was in another world. He was not very knowledgeable about the menu, and every question we asked, his answer started with "I don't know." But then there was never a time when he left me to find out or went to ask someone. He wasn't rude, but he wasn't present or friendly either. It took over 30 minutes to get a coffee and when it came it was 3/4th full and did not taste good. Then we asked for iced tea instead and that took a long time to come too. The food tasted ok, so that was the saving grace.

We had an amazing dinner at Lenoir in Charleston! Our party of four left completely impressed — everything from the food to the service exceeded expectations. The staff were not only super friendly but also efficient and attentive without being intrusive. The menu was thoughtful and full of Southern-inspired creativity. Every dish we tried was flavorful, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance of upscale yet approachable — great for a night out with friends or a special occasion. A huge bonus: they validate parking for the garage directly across the street, which made the whole experience even more convenient. In a city where parking can be a hassle, this was a major perk. Highly recommend Lenoir if you’re looking for an elevated dining experience in Charleston that still feels warm and welcoming. We’ll definitely be back!

Menu descriptions do not match food served. We order Pork and Pastry and the pastry was pasta -- no fat in the dough and not baked plus it was a soup and way over salted. Then on the other side I had the pasta dish that had no seasoning. Much better restaurant choices in Charleston for this price point.

The restaurant was out of two things that we ordered. It was a Sunday but still we thought they shouldn’t be out if featured items. My husband ordered a smash burger and the bread was totally stale . My dish was ok but not great. I had a chicken dish… I don’t remember much about it. It was very disappointing overall. We would not recommend the place.
