Leilani's on the Beach - Kaanapali
We’ve eaten here a few times and it’s just ok overall. Our waitress this time had a real poor attitude. It was like we were a bother. We tried to make small talk which she wanted no part of. We ordered the sashimi as a starter. When the order was delivered, our waitress commented that we were lucky as this was the last one. Seemed really odd sine the dinner service was just starting. Did she mean this was the last one left over from lunch?!? Either way, I don’t think that’s something you want to tell your customer when ordering sushi. The sushi didn’t have the texture you would expect from sushi in Hawaii. It did taste like it was old
Dinner was pretty good. My wife had the beet salad as her entree. It looked and tasted good. I had the herb roasted fresh fish which was also good. Portion could have been a bit larger for the price paid but overall not bad.
A little disappointed that I reserved a early table on the rail for the sunset celebrating our anniversary. When we got there 10 minutes early we were told all rail tables were full and we could take another table or wait 30 - 40 minutes for a rail table to open. I think they should do a better job at planning their tables for the reservations made months in advance. Disappointing!
Amazing view of the sunset.. waitress was outstanding and will be going back just because of how great the food was.
It was our sons birthday he turned 24 and we got the worst table in the house. We usually love Leilani’s but that wasn’t cool when I had put in the reservation it was a special occasion. Oh well many other restaurants on maui!!
The restaurant is next to the ocean and the ambient is very good and fancy. The food was very good and the beer selection is good. The margaritas good as well. The service at the beginning was slow and the waiters didn't seem to know who was going to be assigned to our table so we waited around 15 min to get our drinks orders but once our waiter was assigned everything went awesome from there. He was nice and chatty and recommended good beer options. The parking is free if you validate your ticket at the front desk.
Wonderful people who cared about the customer. Food was excellent and not overpriced.
The restaurant was hot. No fans in our area and the sun beating on our backs made us sweat. The waitress was really sweating but she never showed that the heat bothered her.
My husband and I were there to celebrate an anniversary. My filet was outstanding. The waiter brought us a complimentary Hula Pie which was delicious.
It’s a beautiful space. We ate at the restaurant upstairs which is more upscale. Love the art and ambiance. Would have liked an evening singer but they have that in the daytime.
I love Leilani's on the Beach at Kaanapali . This time I think they missed the mark as far a our reservation.
I had made a reservation 4 days before and asked for a view seat only to be told it would be an additional
45 min. wait once we arrived at the hostess stand. So being lead to our table through a restaurant with 5 empty tables on the railing did not help our dining experience. My husband had the opakapaka fish the waiter recommended, which was excellent and I had the ahi which was also great. Lovely sunset!
I did not calm down until after dinner when I was home. I felt like I wasted my money.
The crab cake appetizer and the crusted monchong were very good. The seared tuna with mushroom sauce was very very salty and the mushroom sauce overwhelmed the flavor of the fish. The noise of the base from the music downstairs was continuous and annoying..
Very disappointed, the only reason 2 stars.. the waitress was good but the rest was not worth it. Reserved thru open table and sat us 2nd floor -no view by the kitchen.
Most restaurants let u choose the sauce with the fish, not here.. the food was fair, So many great restaurants, would not recommend.
we were seated at one of the tables on the outside, overlooking the ocean. prime location for a date night with the wife. very thankful to get that spot. chad was our server and totally awesome. we ordered the pound of crab legs and they were so good. the banana bread pudding was also delicious. thanks for a great date night experience in beautiful maui.
Everything about Leilani’s was wonderful, the service, the food, the incredible ocean view! My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate!
Awesome food awesome view
Leilanis has a special menu if you go early. We went at 5 and ordered off of that. Choice of starter, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. Good and only $27.
Leilani’s had great service combined with amazing food and views. I appreciated the gluten free options. I have Celiac and I had no problems eating there.
Again, Leilani's was fabulous!! Our waiter L.T. was so nice...the food was amazing, and the whole experience excellent! That's why it's our favorite!
Food and service were excellent as usual. Love to eat here and enjoy the sunset.
We've eaten here several times and it's always great. The menu has something for everyone and the service is always outstanding. Add in the perfect location and you have a winner!
First time at Leilani’s and highly recommend! Do you want to great you need to make a reservation upstairs!
Our favorite restaurant while on Maui. Food, service and atmosphere is always superb and consistent.
Food was bad. No flavor . Chef should taste food before sending out . Lucky thing we had a gift certificate for most of the meal . Don’t recommend. Would not go back
Went here for our anniversary with my family. The location is excellent as is the food. We enjoyed our time here and will be back. The steaks and fish are the best!
My wife and I have been coming here for over 15 years, including the night we got married and many of the anniversaries that followed, including this years 15th! We love this place!
Had 2 meals here over the last week. Food was very good. Server on the first evening was great and made us keen to come back for another meal. However server on second evening was not so great.
Birthday toasts, good seafood pot, filet, king crab and Parmesan Ono. Fresh salads were very good and mid pie birthday was great finishing touch
Service was not friendly at all, aver priced ribeye was all grease and not cooked the way asked. Didn’t feel welcome at all
Upstairs dining room remodeled last year. More open lighter colors. Glass wall blocks trades. Brook server all business. Service VERY slow. Special snapper way over priced for little fish. Prime rib and wedge just ok. Maui fresh salad excellent. Hula pie not much flavor. Overall very disappointing from prior years.
We always enjoy dining at Lealanis. Evening sunset is spectacular. Dinner was great and service was too. We’ll be back next year.
There were 2 of us dining early. Had the chef’s tasting menu. We both had the salad. Very good and portion size was very generous. Did not look like a tasting menu size. 2nd course - one surf and turf; filet and prawns - cooked perfectly. Perfect portion size. Other entree was the raviolis with a Meyer lemon sauce kale and mushrooms. 3 ravioli which was fine. The dish was very delicious with a great fresh taste. Final course for dessert was a chocolate flourless cake with Kula strawberries. Wonderful. Perfect size and end to our meal.
Chef’s tasting menu was excellent. Salad, fish/Filet and dessert was just great. View and service was perfect. Going back this week for more.
This was our first time seeing the dining room renovated and it is so beautiful. Love the open feeling throughout. Our server was Caitlynn and she was wonderful. Our meals were delicious as usual, and a stop at Leilani's will continue to be a must whenever we travel to Maui.
We made a reservation for the upstairs restaurant but we’re hoping to get on the open edge part with a view. We were seated much inside the interior so the atmosphere was nothing and it was very hot. The food was okay.
The Parmesan crusted mahi-mahi was good but slightly overcooked and very small. The prime rib was more like a seared ribeye steak without seasonings. It was also tough.
The herb roasted fish was good. Crabcakes and shrimp appetizer were both fine but nothing outstanding.
Food was ok, chicken dish dry. Service was lackluster and slow.
We were told by the staff that the restaurant had been renovated fairly recently .The decor is modern Hawaiian, clean lines with a tropical vibe. The views are amazing, it is definitely beachfront! My husband and I both ordered from the chefs tasting menu. They were smaller portions with choice of appetizer, main course, and dessert. We got to try six different items between the two of us and all were good. For apps we ordered the ribs(3) and salad- I preferred the ribs which were yummy. The sauce on the ribs was slightly spicy and sweet. The Leilani salad was just a salad- not bad but not great. We both ordered the fresh catch fish ( he got the Parmesan encrusted Mahi and I got the herb grilled Opa). The Mahi is a after, milder fish while the Opa is denser, more steak like. The veggies were a bit on the salty side and slightly undercooked (better under than mushy). We enjoyed them both. For dessert we had the banana/ apple? Bread pudding with ice cream and the flourless chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was the winner but it is very rich and chocolatey! We wondered if the smaller portions would be enough but it definitely was!
Great dining experience everytime. the perfect setting for an evening dinner in Maui,
Our server Craig was outstanding.
