The food was good but the table cloth had stains on it at both our seats as if unwashed for some time with just paper placed on top. The utensils were visibly dirty and we had to ask for new ones. The noise level was loud because the staff were all joking around at the bar area laughing and having personal conversations rather than maintaining the restaurant atmosphere for the guests. There were a lot of gnats flying around in the restaurant and one staff member going around with a bug zapper. We were celebrating a birthday and so were asked by our waitress what we wanted for dessert but she didn’t say she was bringing a birthday dessert complementary. So we were pretty full but said we picked the tiramisu to share (one). She brought out two tiramisu charging us for one and a free birthday cannoli dessert. Although the free dessert with candles and singing was nice we couldn’t eat it in addition to the two tiramisu and took it home. I wish she had told us a free one was coming. Overall I was surprised at all of this as years ago the restaurant seemed more high end. Maybe some more training or supervision is needed. Certainly please work at keeping your tables clean and fresh and noise level down.

LeaderBlock is known for its good food and ambience. It is also known for long waits for service and food. This time we experienced a very long wait and when confronted (after a 45 minute wait) It was blamed on the large wedding party in the main part of the restaurant. They had arrived about 20-30 minutes ago and I told the waitress that we had arrived and ordered previous to their arrival. This should never be the excuse. If they don't have enough cooks, servers... they should just shut down the restaurant for the evening to give attention to the wedding party. Too bad, it gives me pause to go back soon... bad experience

The food was decent, however, overpriced for the serving size. Staff seemed distracted, overwhelmed perhaps although the restaurant wasn’t really that busy. They are apparently not typically open on Sundays, so maybe that had something to do with it. Our reservation was at six one of our family members was a little late so we didn’t order until 630. We didn’t get our dinner until close to 745. We were told things kept breaking Yet. Other tables were getting their orders pretty quickly. It just didn’t make sense. My daughter ordered off the special Mother’s Day menu asking for tortellini. They said they could accommodate, but didn’t really indicate to us that the Mother’s Day menu was special pricing and the small portion of tortellini was $50. Again, the food was OK not sure we’ll go back driving from Bellingham for OK. Food just isn’t worth it.

The food was excellent and delivered timely to the table. The tiramisu was the best we have ever had.

Horrible experience on Valentines Day, they stuck us in a back room that was freezing. We ordered the 4 course Valentines dinner. After 99 minutes, they only brought us the first course. We asked multiple times about the second course but it never came so we left. Worst experience I have ever had at a nice restaurant.

We had family from out of town and they'd never been to the Leader Block so we thought it would be a great place to take them for dinner. I did not know it was under new ownership but soon learned Roberto was the new owner. He was wonderful and ultra-entertaining. He has in-depth knowledge of the wines on the wine list and did not steer us wrong. I was the only one who had white wine and Roberto recommended a glass of Anthilia. It was crisp, and delicious and went nicely with the scallops and wild mushroom risotto I ordered. My dinner was great and was a perfect portion size for me. The rest of the gang had red wine. I don't know what they ordered just that they loved it, and one person bought an extra bottle to take home. Two of the people in our group had the Oso Bucco and could not stop raving about it. Another had the cioppino and he said it was outstanding. My husband had the pork loin, and he said it was flavorful but dry. My brother had the Spaghetti Alla Bolognese. He said it was good. All in all, we had a very fun evening and look forward to going back.

Overall, a good experience. We were a party of 6 and everyone said they enjoyed their meal. Two people had the specials and for what the dish was, a bit overpriced. Not sure if they normally have any bread service, but none was served or offered. Selection of items are good and wine list quite extensive. Nice to see the restaurant busy that night. Definitely the best restaurant in Ferndale and one of the best Italian in the county.

I would not say the food was horrible but definitely not good. The scallops were supposed to be sea scallops but were the size of a nickel. More like a bay scallop, and this was on one of the "specials". There was only a handful of patrons, but we waited about an hour for our food. Thankfully we had wine. We all agreed McDonalds would have been better. We will not go back.
