From the OpenTable editors: When Le Pigeon opened in 2006, it put Portland on the culinary map. The best seats in the intimate, brick-walled dining room are at the chef’s counter, where you’ll get a front row view of multi-James Beard Award-winner Gabriel Rucker’s dazzling, French-forward dishes. Cap the evening with playful desserts that could include foie gras profiteroles or a glass from the luscious Oregon- and French-centric wine list.

This was my first time here. Food was really delicious, and service was excellent. They were on top of everything, and very aware without being overly present. I had the omnivore menu and my lady had the vegetarian menu. I honestly enjoyed the bites I had of hers better than most of mine, but again, the food was great all around. The lighting was quite dim and I personally had a hard time reading the drinks menu. We were seated at the chef’s counter, so maybe lighting was different at the tables. Overall great experience, delicious and creative food, friendly and accommodating service. Would love to go back in the future!

I was a solo visitor and was fortunate to get in with a reservation a few days in advance. Sit at the counter, you won’t be disappointed!

What an amazing experience for our monthly date night. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. We chose to order both the omnivore & the vegetarian experiences and then shared the dishes. Both menu's were outstanding. My favorite dish from the vegetarian was the truffle spoonbread and my husbands was the sunchoke carpaccio. My favorite from the omnivore menu was the Trout Glacage and for my husband he said it was a tie between the Trout and Chilean Seabass. Thank you to the Chef's and Staff at Le Pigeon for making our night out memorable.

When Artistry Overpowers Flavor We were excited to try the five-course chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings at le Pigeon but while the ambition was undeniable, the execution often felt more like an exercise in complexity than a celebration of great ingredients. Each dish seemed determined to impress with intricate techniques and unexpected combinations. In the process, the soul of the ingredients were overshadowed. At times, the concept felt more forced than inspired—most notably in the seabass paired with chicken salad, a perplexing combination that left me wondering if innovation had taken precedence over harmony. One dish stood out as an absolute triumph: the trout glacage. It was a masterpiece in balance—rich yet delicate, bursting with flavor yet restrained enough to let the fish shine. If the rest of the menu had followed its lead, the experience might have felt more cohesive. Ultimately, while the meal showcased skill and creativity, it sometimes lacked the fundamental joy of great ingredients speaking for themselves. For those who appreciate a more minimalist, ingredient-forward approach, this menu might feel a bit like style over substance.

This restaurant is stellar. Service is beyond all. Food is beyond description. Our friend who joined us doesn't like fish and loved every bite of 3 fish courses. The wine pairing was everything. I stalked open table for a reservation and so glad I did. Love, love, love.

What an amazing food experience! Each item on the tasting menu was superbly created and presented, and the wine pairings were just perfect. We consider their tasting menu among the very best we've had in our years of travel. The service matched the food - quietly exceptional. The restaurant is lovely, understated and comfortable. Eating at Le Pigeon will be one of my favorite memories of our vacation in Portland!
