At Le Papagayo Carlsbad Village you can expect live music nightly blended with the best in Coastal/Mediterranean/New American food and cocktails. With a full bar and service from 8am-10pm nightly you'll have ample opportunity to enjoy the newest addition to Carlsbad Village. Located conveniently off Carlsbad Village Dr. we are a short walk from State St and just off the freeway for easy access from either direction. We have a large public parking lot directly in front of the restaurant along with assigned parking off to the north end. Please come in and enjoy breakfast/lunch or dinner any day or night of the week and don't hesitate to call to see who's performing today :)

We got a text that our table was ready and checked in right away, but two parties who arrived after us were seated first. We waited another 15 minutes, which felt a bit discriminatory. Appetizers and drinks were solid, but the rest of the food was slow and tasted pre-made. Definitely more of a spot for the vibes and live music than the food.

We really enjoyed dinner at Le Papagayo! Very good food, great live guitar player, and excellent service! Also very nice ambiance with good indoor and outdoor choices.

If you are looking for a nice beach village with a great vibe...here you go. You cannot see the beach from here, but it is in the Carlsbad Beach Village and you can eat and then go shopping or to another bar or whatever. Dog friendly town and restaurant. Great outdoor covered patio & heaters if necessary. I love this place. It is HUGE. They have round dining tables with a fire pit in the middle. The fire pit tables seats 6. They have pub tables for 4. We sat in the covered patio with open windows...great seats. The patio is connected to the huge parking lot, but no issues. Just no ocean view, but the vibe and great service & food is all you need. Casual dress or even shorts and flip flops. Great service. Normal restaurant with tables inside. Fire pit tables on one side with covered roof & open windows. Other side of patio are pub tables & regular tables. If I had anything to say negative is that the flatbread was beautiful, but too sweet. Tell them not to make it so sweet. All four of us agreed on the strong sweetness. Service staff were incredibly nice & quick.

Great food, great service! Several areas in this large restaurant to sit. We sat in the Band Room and it was really nice to hear live music during our meal. Highly recommend!

Well, the second time was not the charm. We visited a year ago and enjoyed it all -- except that one of our kids wasn't feeling well, so we had to cut our visit short. This time, we got lunch menus for our dinner. The food was not as good as we remembered (but not bad either). Average is the verdict.

Overall, this is a decent restaurant. The drink menu is great and we loved the live music. The patio tables with the fireplaces are also great. However, regarding the food, we found that they often skimped on the main component of the dish. For example, we ordered the Ahi tuna nachos for $24 which would have been great except for the fact that they contained very little tuna. Similarily, the Papaygo beet salad contained very few beets. Also, the full order of muscles for $27 was quite small for the price in comparison to similarly priced muscles I have ordered elsewhere. Lastly, our personal server was great. She was very attentive and friendly and brought us everything that she was responsible for in good time. However, the food runners weren't great as they forgot an appetizer and the other appetizers were brought out staggered so everyone was eating their apps at different times.. I rated this restaurant a 3 but in all fairness it's more of a 3.5 but there was no 3.5 available.

BLT delicious as always! Their truffle fries, as for them extra crispy, are the best! Servers always polite and happy. Enjoyable local hangout!

Really like Le Papagayo but was disappointed as our reservation was for 4pm. We got caught in the between lunch and dinner and did not have a good selection of meal options. We had to wait at the table until 5 pm to order off the dinner menu … per our server. Frustrating, no exceptions! No where is this requirement posted, I guess you have to read between the lines … my fault! By the time dinner was available you were stuffed on appetizers.

Wonderful happy hour drink choices and tacos. The shrimp tacos were grilled on corn tortillas and very tasty. I also had the lobster bisque. It had actual lobster meat and a rich, creamy bisque flavor. I could drink it, it was so good!! The chicken piccata was a breast but not pounded much, so less ‘crispy’ than some versions. It was still flavorful and cooked nicely. We had a great server. She knew the menu and we truly enjoyed chatting with her. Something for guests to know when requesting patio seating- there were multiple dogs on the patio. All were well-behaved, but for my friends that are nervous around dogs, you’ll want to request an inside table.
