Truly wonderful meal from beginning to end- this was my second time in 2 weeks! I’d suggest starting with a cocktail and moving into a bottle of wine, both lists are well curated. The tuna and chicken are both can’t-misses IMO. Really happy to have this gem added to our dining scene in Austin, and can’t wait to go back soon!

Le Calamar was an amazing dining experience! The aesthetic and ambiance were great, elevating the experience. The gnocchi, yellow fin tuna dish, and chicken liver was our favorite, we even came two weeks in a row and got them! The service was great and I could tell the servers payed a lot of attention to detail and were very knowledgeable. The wine and cocktails were very and they have a good selection of mezcal drinks. Overall I would 1000% recommend coming here, it is definitely somewhere you have to go when you are in Austin! It’s a plus that the owners Richard and Claudia are super involved and passionate about the restaurant! ♡

Love the decor and service!! The food though was ok. For appetizers: We had the steak tartare which I thought was a little chewy and the tuna ceviche didn't seem sushi grade or maybe the sauce which threw me off. For entrees: We had the steak which lacked salt; fish which was very good. The potato side was good but my absolute fav was the gnocchi. Holy amazing. It was so good that we ordered another portion of it. The dessert was nice. The torched meringue was yummy.

Good and drinks were wonderful. Our waiter insisted on putting our order in all at once, which I am not a big fan of doing. I like to order a drink, an hors d’oeuvre , maybe another drink and then the main meal, salads sides…etc. Instead, the waiter was a bit insistent that the kitchen prefers that the orders be put in all at once and I didn’t want to debate it. Well the spacing was all off. We got our salads with our sides?!?! And then we got our meal after we were done with our salads and after the sides were cold. The waiter did apologize but did nothing to make it right (e.g. no comped drink or offering to remake the sides and bring them back out with dinner). With all of that said, they are still working out some of the kinks and this did not take away from the fact that this was a great place.

Wonderful dinner - food was fantastic, especially the Chicken liver, Chicken main dish and the Gnocchi ! Ambience was on gorgeous, sexy, inviting and sophisticated - cannot wait to go back!

We had an awesome night trying Le Calamar. Newly opened and we expected some kinks but there were none. Service was spectacular. One of the waitstaff took the steak tartare when there was one cheese cracker left, and they immediately returned with an entire cracker for their miss. Not necessary but a surprise and very appreciated. Don’t leave without ordering the chicken!
