Sea Scallops au Beurre Rouge
Seared sea scallops, roasted parsnip puree, root vegetables & Cabernet butter sauce
Very well prepared, upscale food but the cost is decently lower than comparable restaurants.
They were so careful of the COVID situation starting by taking our temperature and many other precautions Like masks, gloves, Tables spaced out and paper menus that they threw away after one use.
It was awesome as always even with social distancing. We've been there many times and taken friends there.
Staff were polite and attentive.
Food was delicious!
Dessert was FABULOUS with stunning presentation!
Music was a little sporadic and louder at times.
We will definitely be back again 👍🏻
This is a hidden gem! Great safety and lots of social distancing. Portions are huge . Food quality superb. Waiter selected our wine for us and it was excellent. We plan to visit here often this summer. Addition of a Wednesday steak night looks terrific.
Great ambiance & prices. Menu is a little limited but I will definitely be returning.
Expectation was a restaurant-like atmosphere (vs kitchen) and a more intimate environment like most French restaurants. The menu was limited and the wine choices were below average. One of the red wines we ordered had been open for appx. a week per the waiter and it was awful. And the foods flavors were so-so. We loved that the chef came out and was so engaging. He's truly passionate about teaching his students.
For Le Bistro to compete with all of the French restaurants in Houston, they really need to amp up the game in each area.
It is always a good time at Le Bistro. Although, the wines I want, they're usually of of, there is always a comparable suggestion. The food is superb and the service is top notch. I only urge Le Bistro to be a bit more imaginative with the vegetarian/gluten-free options.
Yes, it is a culinary school. YES it is fantastic and an incredible value.
This cooking school restaurant serves great food for a lower price than a regular restaurant. Really enjoyed the evening.
Great value and nice change in dining after Thanksgiving. Aside from the wine conference dinners, I have dined here several times for lunch. The staff was much more open and easy to understand during those experiences. The only feedback have for improvement is for staff to speak up and speak clearly. When asking what a certain item is called it really helps when it is not a term one is used to hearing i.e. a French term for a dish or type of meat. For the dinner it really seemed like they were really not prepared and I picked up the sense of being unsure or uneasy which is understandable since presumably they are students of the Culinary Institute. I enjoyed great company and delicious food.
High class food for half the price. Staffed by advance students and Chefs from the Culinary Institute. Food was delicious and plated beautifully.
I took my wife out for her birthday. The meal was exceptional, the wine came highly recommended, and dessert was decadent. Loved everything about the experience.
management trying to turn around, entrée quality was excellent, but plate was too full, meat should be on plate with grains and vegetables on the side to look better, dessert was abysmally bad, very cheap, but chef recognized it and offered free dessert next time, restaurant was up and coming, wine was good, but a bit over-priced for the qualtiy
Always enjoy this secret hideaway!!
Food and wine were awesome!
Had the meats plate, duck confit and ribeye.
Perfect with a Jordan Cap
Food was very good, although not quite up to the restaurant's usual very high standard. Perhaps, this was because we ordered from the Restaurant Week menu. Serving sizes were large. Unfortunately, the champaign was served at room temperature and did not cool adequately until the meal was half over. Disappointing.
Didn’t realize it was the restaurant for a culinary school but was a good time. Service was great even though our waiter was clearly very nervous. Food was good. Would go back again!
I had never been to Le Bistro and do plan to return. It was a bit tricky to find due to lack of signage on the feeder road. Menu was excellent. Presentation outstanding. Waiter knew the items and explained ingredients on the plate. I will recommend.
The waitress was very infotamtive as to the menu and the sxhool. Houston FoodWeek is a great way to explore new restaurants and a chance ro help those kess fortunate.
I love this place! This is my 3rd time here. It has a romantic vibe, but I've been here on a work lunch break with girlfriends, on a date night, and now on a solo lunch outing. Every time the food was amazing and the service is on point. It's truly top-notch on a budget.
This is a hidden gem for those of you who don’t know that Le Bistro exists. The staff is professional and knows the menu and events they offer, must ask even if it is posted.
Fresh, delicious, savory, and most pleasing food you will ever have.
Thank you for making my wife’s birthday special
Good food and service. The HRW menu is an upgrade from last years.
This was our first trip to Le bistro and we loved it. The food was outstanding.
Server not so good , she never had a real eye contact with us , she need more love for her job to be a server.
Our main course was cold , we request medium rare , was done , sauce was cold , French fries was with a smell and taste burnt , bland. Lack of salt the food , dessert was disappointing , chocolate cake not good. My son don’t eat it , we had high expectatives for this place.
Sorry we doesn’t like it . We are been in Europe and this is so far from a French cuisine.
We went for Houston Restaurant Week because their menu was so diverse! Escargo, BBQ Ribs, French Onion Soup, Salmon. It ALL was so good! We shared a chocolate cake (which wasn't included in the HRW price, but was really good!). Prices were very reasonable and being able to watch the cooking was great fun. Service was fine, but could have been a bit better as the restaurant wasn't crowded. We had to track her down to get our check. NOTE: they don't take cash. Overall, loved the restaurant and will be back! Will also bring my grandson for a Jr. Cooking Class!!
It has always been a wonderful experience for me. The menus are unique and innovative. Service is good but inexperienced. I always feel welcome at Le Bistro and like to bring my friends.
The food was fantastic. Perfect for an Anniversary Dinner!
We know that is a cooking school, but our waiter seemed overly inexperienced and the food was just mediocre. We have enjoyed it more on other occasions.
Wonderful and unique dining experience. Food is out of this world. Seeing the chefs in the kitchen is fun too.
“Wednesday Steak night“... Invited friends (6) to show one of my favorite French restaurant in Houston.
This time I was disappointed by the very poor service and the quality of foods. The butter was on the table but we wait more than 30 minutes before we can have our “cold” bread served. Where is the baguette from my last visits (March)? The best in Houston!
The charcuterie plater was okay, and the “Steak” doesn’t look same as on the add.
One of the dessert was run out... already ....and it is only 6:30pm
Our night was save by the excellent atmosphere and wine. We ordered 3 bottles.
We loved our time there. Our waitress didn’t seam very confident on some items, but did absolutely great. We will definitely come back and bring friends.
Ate in restaurant often. This time, service poor and very slow. Escargots were tasteless, chocolate mousse very thick. Summary - this time wasn’t worth the dining experience.
It was date night for the wife and I
Great intimate bistro with the chance to try some great food. Definitely a hidden gem for Houston
The service was not at all good. One server for 3 tables. The server wrote our food order down. She placed the wrong order.
The food was overwhelming with spices. We went for stake night.
The steak had weird flavors.
The steaks were placed on two different pures. It was such a mess.
We did not have as good experience. Slow service. They did not give us steak knives until after we had gotten our food. Bread was given to us after our appetizers.
The people at my table including myself had bad stomach aches all night.
Such a disappointment.
We were very pleased with the service and meals we received at LeBistro for lunch. Our server was knowledgeable and most pleasant. The food was of great quality and fashionably prepared. We plan on visiting again very soon- merci beaucoup!!
We entered and was served water... never asked if we wanted anything else. I told him we wanted coffee. The table all started with crab cake. three cakes all cooked to a different degree, mine was crispy outside but runny inside. one was cooked almost correct. the server was very quiet and disengaged. I asked what he recommends and he said he has not been beck long enough to try the menu... I ordered duck and it was over cooked to the point of jerky I did not eat most of it. The root vegetables were just a blur of starch to many to much. The salmon had the same root vegetable and it was to heavy for the perfectly cooked light and flaky salmon, The pork lasagna was terrible to me.... My son ate all of it and liked it said it was just to sweet. we ended the meal with a high note... casino cake, mouse cake and creme brulee.
