Le Bilboquet - Sag Harbor
It’s been turned into a lovely place ..perhaps the most handsome on the South Fork. Overall staff are first rate though the turn away process at front desk is rather weird and in fact results in some curious groups being admitted while perfectly legitimate others get turned away
Sat outdoors with marina views. Perfection!
The place is really nice. The terrace for a nice evening is beautiful.
First of all, don’t go on July 4th weekend. It’s the busiest day of the year in the Hamptons. That said, my daughter and I came early and were seated beautifully by the water. Unfortunately we were pushed very unpleasantly by the Fe mail server—-she was in such a hurry we hadn’t even looked at the drinks menu. She came back at least twice more within three minutes and also demanded our order. She had neglected to tell us what the specials were she was in such a rush. To make a long story short, we asked her to slow down and were met with an aggressive and foul faced temperament. We asked to speak with the manager. Once he came we requested another server and all went well after that The food was just ok that night. And there were many open tables inside although the app claimed they were sold out. I’ve been before and I had good food and good service. As I mentioned, perhaps it was the particular weekend. But it wasn’t great and it’s no longer at the top of my list. The views are superb if you sit outside, however.
When I called to confirm my reservation I was told to ‘remember the dress code.’ I asked what it was and was told no shorts and no flip flops. I therefore told my party of 7 they must wear long pants - for lunch. No one was happy but complied. We arrived one hour later and there were more than 50 % ( men and woman ) in shorts. It was hot, and my party was not happy . Caused for an uncomfortable atmosphere in my party. The staff needs to get their act together and think!! Obviously lunch has a different dress code.
A major disappoitment! The setting outside facing the boats is beautiful but everything else is "the Emperor's new clothes!" The food is completely marginal except the salmon tarter that was delicious. The sea food tower looks good but the quality is lacking. The staff is abundant and nice but they fall over each other and can't get it right! The prices for both food and wine are off the wall, even for the Hamptons. Except to pay $500 for a dinner for two including a "not so good meal" with one cocktail each and an inexpensive bottle of Rose. And best of all they rush you out of the restaurant in record breaking time! A must to skip!
The décor is nice, the food is excellent and the location is really perfect. The only issue is that - at least on OpenTable - nothing specifically mentions the absolute requirement than men wear long pants to dinner. All summer, in the heat, on the waterfront. My husband was asked to go home and change which wasn't a problem since we live 5 minutes away but my very well dressed friend (albeit in shorts) was coming from Southampton so we had to consider leaving. Thankfully they made an exception. The staff was EXTREMELY nice so I do not want to make it appear they were rude! It is just a very strict dress policy that was not at all clear to us in advance and is sort of odd considering that this is a summer establishment on the waterfront. Food and ambiance really are both excellent.
best service, food, drink, setting and overall energy...
Been several times and will continue to go back. Service is fair - it’s a busy place. The food is VERY good.
Quite “the scene” for the Hamptons, sort of like being at South Beach.
Fun for a fancy night out - you go there for the atmosphere, not for the food.
Fantastic as to be expected if you are familiar with the two restaurants. Setting is one of the best on the East End
Everything wonderful. Drinks too expensive
A perfect way to spend a Friday afternoon before visitn friends for the weekend. Our table was outside overlooking the harbor, the food and wait staff were to perfection. A wonderful time.
Amazing service, food, & ambiance. Awesome backdrop overlooking the water and decent vegan options!
Food was good but drinks were very small and very rxpensive
Great spot, excellent food, fun atmosphere, just be aware that the music gets ~really~ loud while you are eating after 10:30pm.
Most likely best restaurant in the Hamptons. Food, service and atmostphere: there is everything to like here
Great food. Large portions.
excellent service .
I would not recommend Le Bilboquet. While the location and atmosphere are good, the service is abysmal and the restaurant staff are oblivious and rude. We had to wait 45 minutes to be seated and were only seated as I complained about the wait (I am pregnant and it was now 9:15PM). Then we were given a table with 3 chairs and they pulled up a folding chair for the fourth seat (the reservation was for 4 people so it wasn't as if we had an extra, unexpected guest). I asked the host to find a proper chair...he never returned. Then no server came to our table and we had to flag down a random staff member who (maybe?) took our drink order, but then disappeared, never to be seen again. After waiting 15 minutes for a server, we got up and left.
The staff of this restaurant are unprofessional and rude. We will not return.
Outstanding meal. Great end to summer in Hamptons.
Always a treat! And the setting makes it the perfect Hampton spot.
The best of the best
Welcome to the Club
Great food, staff were very nice and accommodating
Such a beautiful place.
Service was really great from the Maitre d’ to our busboy to our waiter.
Food was very good as well.
A lovely place for lunch or dinner.
At the high end price wise.
But worth it!
Disinterested service, bland food. Lovely setting on the water. Somewhere to see or be seen but our table of 6 was largely ignored with slow service. No bowl for the mussel shells so I just stacked them on a side plate for literally 20 mins until they were finally taken away. Striped bass was hammered. Way over cooked which is a sin out East. No problem with the prices if you are going to do French food well. The croque monsieur was not done well either. Slightly burnt sandwich bread does not cut it for $25. The servers missed every cue we didn’t have a great time but I doubt this place cares.
This was a fun night- the energy was high and we loved it! Food was very good as was the service- we even had a French waiter which added to the ambiance! On the pricey side- but worth it!
A beautiful location, very chic and on trend. The server was overwhelmed and rushed. I think she must have had too many tables. She was a bit snippy with her french accent (i hope it was real) but never asked us for a cocktail order and had to be prompted to take our drink order. When my friend ordered a glass of Rose, she pretended she didn't understand her and kept pushing a bottle purchase. The restaurant wasn't that busy but our appetizers came before we even had our drinks. The entrees were ok but not what I would expect from all the hype around this restaurant. The bouillabaisse is better at some other tried and true East End restaurants. If you go , go to be seen, not for the food.
Hostess was very rude and could not manage the large crowds
Prices were out of touch with reality. They charge bottle prices for glasses of wine.
LOTS of attitude with nothing to back it up.
Try any other place in Sag first.
Very good food, service, ambiance. Food was a reasonable, albeit relatively high price, but wines were through the roof!! Ask to see the wine list before ordering.
Fair overpriced food and wine list, but to be expected in the Hamptons. But, one of the most enjoyable sophisticated nights out here. Great music, fun (if not overly professional) waitstaff and a party!
great service. classy interiors. fresh flowers done right. average food. crazy prices. large portions. great bread. view of the harbor is the best feature. classy clientele. ( not your average boating crowd). wonder how long they will last with their pricing policy...
This place is so overpriced with such low quality food that I can’t recommend it. The location and ambiance are amazing but not worth the cost.
Although we enjoyed the restaurant, it was about 90° and we sat on the terrace outside and we just wish we had gone inside to the air conditioning. The problem was the tables were not ready inside even though no one was in there and it didn’t look like a table for a party of seven would have any view of the marina, which is of course another draw of the restaurant. We had called the day before as we were there for Sunday brunch and we were told that you needed to have A proper dress code so we advised our guests, only to find out upon arrival the people were there with short shorts and flip-flops and T-shirts and when we inquired we were told they do not enforce the dress code on Sundays, which we would’ve enjoyed learning a day earlier as it was so hot that day and here we were all dressed up. We did enjoy the food however and the only item we felt was grossly overpriced was the cocktails which cost $24 each.
The experience felt very rushed, they brought the check with dessert. They also padded the check on a few items which was very low class for a place that purports to be an upscale restaurant. Last year the snobbery level at this restaurant was out of control but we gave it another chance this year since they are taking up one of the most beautiful spots in Sag Harbor.
Very disappointing fare. Manhattan location is better by far. But would go back for a drink - beautiful spot.
On a Friday night we were refused a table outside with waterfront view because, the staff said, those tables were all reserved. By the time we left an hour and a half later most of the outside tables were still available. This kind of thing leaves a bad impression. We won't be back any time soon.
