We last ate here two years ago and had a wonderful dining experience. this time, the food was good but not as great as we remembered. However, the disappointment was in the service. We were largely ignored, with things like empty cocktail classes being left on the table throughout the meal, and having to repeated ask for dishes to be removed from our table. I will not be returning.

Good food, but not too organized with their drinks. Were out of stock in most of their Single Malt section which already had a very limited choice. In addition, the server was quite unaware of the drinks section in the menu and left the table without service for extended periods of time.

GOOD PARTS: Very nice restaurant inside. Great ambience. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS UNDERWHELMING & BAD Although the servers and managers were very polite, they were not attentive. I sat there for 20 minutes and no server came up to me to give me menus. I had to get up and ask for menus kindly. No one ever came to ever ask if I wanted more drinks so I would go and notify one of those servers. Very small portions compared to Amal. Not only were they small, but I’ve had better chicken at a Shawarma spot. The octopus was very overcooked and hard. The pitas must’ve been microwaved or something because they were super hard after 30 seconds when they cooled down. It’s a poor man’s version of Amal with the same prices. The drinks didn’t seem to have any alcohol in them. I had 6 drinks, and I felt sober when I left. Even my date said the same thing and she drank as much as I did.

It was very loud. The air conditioning was on high, despite it being very cold outside. The food was cold, likely because of the temperature in the restaurant. We asked multiple times for them to turn down the air conditioning and they would assure us they would but there was no change. It took a long time to get the drinks and then for someone to come by and take our order. The interactions we did have with the wait staff were pleasant. Certainly mediocre in terms of Lebanese food in the city.

Great culinary experience. Having frequented lots of Lebanese restaurants in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, Laylak stood out the top for me. The Kebbe Naye was amazing! The food presentation and taste was great along with the service. Great overall experience. Thanks to Hossep and the chef at Laylak 🥂
