Exceptional! We have been celebrating my birthday at this site ever since they opened in 1974 and it has consistently been one of our all time favorites!!! I also have had many business meetings there which were always lovely. Thanks to the Lawry’s team!!!
Haven't been to Lawry's in awhile but it was great to come back too.
The service is excellent!!!!!
Food and service was great. Ambiance was very unique and cozy. Nice place to take someone special
Ms. Rodgers and Albert were great.
Every year during Restaurant Week, we choose various restaurants in which to dine for the first time, and decide if we’d like to revisit. This year, we decided to try Lawry’s. The service was okay, although I actually felt kind of bad at the waitresses and the outfits they had to wear. They felt a bit demeaning for our times.
My husband, son and I are ordered the surf and turf. When the steak arrived it was very under done. Not at all what I expected.
Our poor waitress was so overwhelmed, that she forgot to get us our lobster tails. I finally asked for them towards the end of our meal. When it was time for desserts, are we just announced That they did not have one of the options I was offered up the restaurant week menu. I was stuck eating a hot fudge sundae.
Not a good experience. Will not be returning and not recommending.
Perfection as always
This is such a classic place with tradition that doesn’t change. As a result, the meal was spectacular, as always. Service was impeccable and the carver made the evening!
Drinks were good, prime rib outstanding. We had no room for desert but still managed a few bites of heaven! Thanks for a great evening!
This is a Chicago classic. Everyone should come here at least once! It is wonderfully old school. The food was very good, but not over the top amazing. The portions were huge. The ambiance was very comfortable and cozy. The service was friendly but still professional. I would describe the experience as one where the whole was far better than the individual parts.
We go to Lawry's every year to celebrate my parents anniversary and are treated to an simply wonderful and memorable meal.
Everything was very nice. It is exspensive but that is to be expected. I was told before I even sat down to take my hate off. The decor is old and dated to resemble an English castle. The food was delicious. Only gripe I have is the prime rib is 90% fat not alot of meat. Sides were delicious.
Drinks were way overpriced - $14-16 dollars per drink.
But I will be back
My wife and I went here on a Sunday evening. Everything was good, however, we were quite disappointed to find out that they were out of the porterhouse during our visit. We literally traveled to Chicago for the weekend solely to enjoy a porterhouse from Lawry’s. We decided to get a New York strip which was cooked to a perfect medium. We also ordered the cream corn, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. My wife didn’t care much for the creamed spinach, however, everything else was spot on.
If you got a special date, or special occasion this is the place. More then I like to spend for a meal but when I do it's here that I like to go to. Cary Schultz
We have been going to this place for many years. Last visit the food was amazing and excellent customer service. Highly recommended
Ms Johnson, I believe it was, was outstanding. She went above and beyond dealing with my husband's request for a separate salad dressing. The meat seemed slightly different than usual but it was delicious. The VIP Special Preview of Restaurant Week was terrific.
Great service our waitress was so attentive and made my son feel so special on his birthday. Made the night for my son.
We have dined at Lawry’s many times over the past 25 years and each time left feeling the food and overall experience was excellent, but sadly can not say that about Saturday night. We waited a very long time before anyone even acknowledged us at the table and then waited even longer for our first round of cocktails. Our waitress apologized but then the same thing happened as we were having cocktails after dinner and dessert. She explained there was only one person bar tending and he just couldn’t keep up. She did give us our final 2 drinks complimentary because we had waited so long again but considering we had 5 or 6 cocktails and a bottle of wine with dinner, it didn’t seem like that generous of a peace offering. The gentleman (I believe Albert )who carved the meat was very nice and took time to speak with us. Unfortunately during dinner/dessert a couple of servers stood behind our table and exchanged grievances about their coworkers, which seemed fairly unprofessional to us. Overall the experience wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great either. It was just disappointing as we normally love dining at Lawry’s.
Service was great. We arrived before our reservation so we went to the bar to kill a little time. We were greeted by the bar tender and served quickly.
Server at the table was knowledgeable and made suggestions. Food came quickly and was hot.
We go here a lot for dinner. Lawry’s never lets us down.
Celebrated my wife’s birthday! It’s our favorite!
We visited for a birthday and the experience was great.
Mr Rice, aka Jeff, was such a wonderful waiter. Very attentive without being annoying, very informative- we had no idea about the history of Lawry’s. A very enjoyable, relaxing, tasty and memorable meal. Thank you!
Birthday dinner. Seated quickly and excellent service...great food. Overall fantastic night
This was my return visit to Lawry's in a couple of years. The place is getting TIRED!! Multiple pieces of furniture were in need of immediate replacement. Our dinner was interrupted three times by fruit flies. When one pays near a four hundred dollar bill for dinner, I expect all aspects of the experience to be near PERFECT!! Doubt if I will be returning.
The prime rib is so awesome. No where is it better and the experience of them slicing the meat to your request from a beautiful silver cart that cost as much as an luxury car. The service is also great, very friendly and helpful including the valet parking.
Food is always good and service is outstanding. It was a birthday dinner and I was treated to a complimentary dessert! Very nice touch.
I was surprised at the youth and dress of the hostesses seating us. Usually a very professionally dressed group attends to the seating, but this time it was a group of young women who were dressed rather casually for the job (colored jeans and a top that did not quite cover the midriff area on one girl) - not the best first impression if it had been our first time at Lawry's.
Great food and service in a casual but swank environment
I was disappointed in the service. After the meal had concluded and was offered coffee a check was offered and closed. We did not depart immediately and while still associating among our group we couldn't get a water refill. Even with open tables we felt discouraged. You got our money then we don't care about you. So what our bill was small with tip $400 but it should not have felt that way. Not sure when we will be back.
Lawry’s always delivers the experience, food, and service of first class dining. Emma escorted us to our quiet table efficiently after a couple drinks at the bar (we were early for our reservation). Violet, our server, was extraordinary and Phillip masterly carved two amazing servings of their signature prime rib. The French Onion soup was on point and the sides of creamed corn and creamed spinach complimented nicely. Too full for dessert, but we’ve had the amazing Key Lime pie many times and it never disappoints. Lawry’s is simply amazing.
Food, service, and ambiance were great.
Violet is an amazing server.
Overall very good meal. Service was very slow. Been coming on New Year’s Day for about twenty years and this visit did not live up to past visits. Seems as though short staffed and not as professional staff at check in.
Great place. Will be back
We were Ms. Farmer's final meal and spinning salad after her 45 years........Have been served by her for many years and it was VERY special..............
The restaurant too old, needs to be updated, also it is way too expensive for what you get.
Went for a New Year’s Eve dinner and had so much food including good Prime Rib, decadent dessert, and friendly service!
Great time with our neighbors. Celebrated New Years Eve.
Our favorite & only restaurant that we drive into Chicago to go to.
The worst experience after many times of visiting. The service was atrocious - the waitress kept walking away in the middle of a sentence that she was speaking! The food was mediocre and we realized that we can a better prime rib at home at a much cheaper price.
i would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Wonderful dinner as expected. There were holiday singers at dinner who were excellent and helped make the evening very memorable. Would definitely recommend Lawry’s for great food and exceptional service.
Beautiful restaurant, exceptional customer service! However the food was not as good as I remembered from my visit to the beverly hills location many years ago, so I can't say if it was just a bad night or the location. Prime ribs were good but the mashed potato was dry and the side order of asparagus was just a boiled asparagus and the cream corn was nothing spectacular as I remembered.
