Fantastic food and amazing service! One of my new places in New Orleans.
The service was excellent. The duck was delicious. My wife had the hanger steak and it was excellent. All in all a great experience.
First the good- food was great! We really enjoyed everything we had. Some of our favorites were the burrata, hush puppies, the fish, and the gumbo. The not so good- service was ehh. Food took a very long time to come out. Probably waited about 45 minutes for our first appetizer. Not sure if they were understaffed but the restaurant was pretty empty for a Saturday night. Overall cute place. If I went back I would maybe just sit a the bar for some drinks and some appetizers. I wouldn’t go back again with a big group.
All around a fantastic experience. Would highly recommend!
The restaurant was not even open when we got there. Why would you list your reservation availabilities on a platform if you aren't operating ?!
Amazing drinks. Food was outstanding. Must try the lemon tart!
Our evening at Laurel Oak was simply one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in New Orleans, a city in which we’ve come to know and love for its fantastic food and culture. The service was superb, the cocktails were divine and the meal was, in a word, sublime. Highly, highly recommended.
Nice menu, nice team there, and I had a great time.
The chef is well trained with great techniques and food talent. The food was delightful and delicious with a little adventure! The wait staff was very attentive and trained. The bartender created delightful libations to savor. It was very close walking from the Marriott on Canal. We rate this experience as our best in New Orleans on this visit This is definitely on our list for our next visit to NOLA!
Great food, good service, slow drinks. Liked Hush Puppies , Shrimp and Mushrooms as starters. Duck could have been a bit crisper. Chocolate and lemon deserts round out a good night. It was busy so you must speak up to be heard. All and all happy with the evening meal.
Had a wonderful friend’s dinner here before a show! Food was really well done, especially the BBQ Shrimp appetizer, Tuna Crudo and Hush Puppies for small plates. The burger was also very delicious. Cocktails were also well done and the service was great as well. Our server was attentive and openly honest about the menu and questions we had which we appreciated! Looking forward to stopping back in!
Wonderful small plates and cocktails as well as excellent service. Highly recommended.
Restaurant was very nice inside and easy to find. Friendly staff and a warm greeting at the door. Booked reservation online via open table which is helpful/preferred by me. Had a 6pm rez and not many tables in there at all. Maybe 3-4. Our server was very nice however very absent minded. She was friendly and attentive but certainly having an off day. We placed drink and appetizer orders. Then when she returned we ordered salads, tuna crudo and entrees.
Cocktails were amazing - I highly recommend the vanity fair. Our salads and crudo came out (both very tasty!) but not the apps we initially ordered. I asked if those items would be coming - she replied yes. It was taking a little while, and then our entrées came out. I asked her what happened to our gumbo and hushpuppy appetizers. She admitted that she completely forgot we ordered those. Another employee came over, which I assumed to be the manager, and indicated they would still make those for us free of charge. Eventually those came out and they were delicious along with the duck and burger entrees. The butter with the hushpuppies was divine, gumbo came with a ramekin of potato salad which was odd to me but very yum. The duck had some bean mixture that surprisingly went very well together. I do wish there was another slice or two of duck though.
Mid-meal, we ordered a second round of drinks and I switched to the cocktail my friend had. She brought over my original cocktail and upon getting to the table realized she made the wrong one. She corrected her mistake and went to make the correct one but I had to wait again for the item I ordered.
Luckily we weren’t in a rush and the restaurant did the right thing by comping the 2 items. Especially because they were so good, I would still return and order them again. Their food was so awesome that I would return but that’s what saved the meal for me from the mishaps.
Overall a great experience. We had reservations so I was surprised when we walked in and I asked for seating next to window which had 4 open 6 top tables only to be told they were saving those for larger parties. (We were a part of 4). The girl proceeded to seat us at a four top lined in a row with other filled tables. Considering that the the area we requested remained empty the entire time we were there, she should have been more accommodating. That said, our waiter was amazing! Very knowledgeable with just the right amount of attentiveness. All of the food was delicious especially the Yukon Gnocchi, corn bread, and gumbo. The fish of the day (red snapper) was a little dry with over roasted red potatoes. Cocktails were fantastic with the vanity fair being our favorite. No room for dessert so we’ll have to try next time.
Everything was wonderful. We went for Thanksgiving dinner and the restaurant was not crowded. The host was super nice and kept coming to check on us. Our waiter was fantastic and attentive and even gave us great recommendations for things to do that night. The food was exceptional and we both loved the bread pudding dessert. Will definitely be back when we are in New Orleans again.
This is a nice little restaurant with uniquely prepared food. It was delicious and the cocktails were also great. Apparently this is a relatively new restaurant. I would have given it 5 stars but they need more experience. My husband and I arrived 15 minutes before our reservation at 5. We walked in the restaurant and we were basically told that we had to leave and come back in 15 minutes. They should have let us sit at the bar an offered us a drink but they didn’t. Your customers should not be treated this way. They will learn.
Absolutely amazing! Wonderful place with delicious food and great service! Highly recommend!
Laurel Oak is fantastic for something a little different than the standard fair
We did arrive late and added one person to the reservation, so they were accommodating. That was nice. But the waiter was trying to tell us what he knew about the great cocktails and he was all wrong. (I was reading along on the menu.) He seemed confused and irritated when my friend asked for a side of mayonnaise and dijon mustard to dip her fries in. He said that that was not possible, brought out some remoulade sauce, then eventually, when asked again, brought some out. He said that the kitchen was too busy because they just opened up on Open Table. They seemed not ready for the rush. Then, when the bill arrived, we were charged for the extra remoulade and mayo/mustard combo. I thought that this was a bit petty. I usually completely appreciate the fact that no one wants to work, so I usually would give a more than 20% tip, but this all was annoying. The food was tasty though!
The BBQ Shrimp is amazing! Wonderful service and beautiful atmosphere.
Restaurant was pretty much empty when we arrived. Yet we were seated directly under the air conditioning vent. Our server was overly attentive. The smoked redfish appetizer was very good. The burger and chicken sandwich, were good but not great. The beignet dessert (3 very small ones) was disappointing.
Hello, We apologize that your visit was disappointing. I have shared this feedback to our culinary team. We also apologize for the overly attentive staff. I am sure your server was excited to have a table since tourism is quickly declining. We hope that you are able to give us another chance to earn a better review. All the best, Management
Their fryer was broken so they could not serve all the items on the menu. However, the server was very accommodating and made sure we were able to order our food. The biscuits are to die for!
Hi MaaritL, With the fryer being broken for a few days, it was the worst timing for our new restaurant. We really appreciate that you still dined with us and had an amazing meal! Thank you for your feedback. Now that our fryer is fixed, you'll have to come back and try our famous hushpuppies. Best,
Awesome - on every level - hostess became concierge and wonderful.
Food was impeccable
Excellent new restaurant. Food is delicious and great service.
ordered the jerk spiced duck. beans were salty and duck was overcooked. food also took awhile
Hello, We apologize for what happened during your visit. We are a little over 2 months old, and are still working out the kinks in service and food. We hope that you are able to give us another chance to earn those last 2 stars. Best, Management
We had a large group of 10 for a business dinner and I stumbled onto this location after trying several others for reservations. The reviews were all dead in! This place is amazing. It was a pleasant 4 minute walk from our hotel. Our table was ready the minute we walked in. And, Patrick was totally amazing. I was so happy when he approached our table and said he was serving us as several others mentioned he was great.
The food was delicious, delivery in a timely manner and the suggestions offered on ordering was dead on! We have a fantastic dinner. The restaurant itself was super cool, very cozy and comfortable with a bit of a modern flare.
You will not be disappointed.
This is by FAR one of the most modern chic restaurant in NOLA! The service was excellent, the food was excellent, the ambiance was excellent. If you want to have a friends’ get-together this is the place!! Must try restaurant in NOLA!!
Great food and service even during Mardi Gras! We were a party of 6 and we all enjoyed our meals and drinks!
Good variety with friendly service, reasonable wine list and good food
The service here is so fun! Patrick is the best, definitely worth going, food was delicious, great variety!
Great food! Great service!! But room was not inviting or warm feeling... and way too loud. My husband and I could not even have a conversation without yelling across the table.
Worst service we’ve had in very long time. Couldn’t get server’s attention for water refills or anything because she was nowhere to be found or talking and laughing with other staff and had her back to our table most of the night. Asked 3 times for check. Embarrassed to have brought out of town guests there for this experience.
Really too bad as food was quite good and interesting but in this market too many great options to put up with such a poorly run front of house.
What a wonderful place! Everything from the decor to food and drinks were fabulous. The redfish dip is a must. Delicious. We also had the redfish as the main course. It was perfectly cooked and beautifully served. Finally, you can’t pass up the salted caramel beignets. Delicious.
Laurel Oak was a last minute reservation and was the happiest stumble upon we could have asked for. If you eat here and are lucky enough to sit in Patrick's section be prepared for a few laughs and some witty repartee because he will bring it. The food is somehow both classic Southern fare that Grandma used to make and elevated cuisine worthy of any high end restaurant. Have some hush-puppies and some beignets to bookend your meal and you will not be disappointed. The duck confit fries are absolutely incredible as is the hanger steak that it comes with. The jerk duck is cooked perfectly and literally melts in the mouth. Don't worry about remembering any of this, though, because should you forget what delicious morsel you went for, Patrick will be waiting with a joke and a perfect suggestion. Come to New Orleans. Eat here. You will not regret it.
First time at Laurel Oak. Our waiter was great, attentive and informative. Food was ok but the value was way overpriced. Not enough food on the plate nor that tasteful for what we paid. The one particular thing that we did not appreciate nor happy about was the fact that we had to pay for water. If I remember correctly $8 a bottle. For a restaurant that is just starting out, we believe that’s just taking advantage of the customer. You are paying for the location and in my opinion you can get better food around the area for less.
We loved our waiter, Patrick. We made excellent suggestions, kept us apprised of when to expect our next course, and our drinks were refilled perfectly. But that's not the best part. The food was delicious. My husband said he could make a meal of the hush puppies. The flat iron steak was seared and done to perfection, and don't get me started on the fries finished in duck fat. Very French. The decor is beautifully modern chic. If we're ever back in NOLA we will return here.
I have my go-to restaurants in New Orleans, but my flight was delayed and this restaurant was recommended and was near my hotel. The wine list was solid and the cab I ordered was delicious. The dessert (the beignets) were outstanding - and that’s saying a lot in New Orleans. The side salad I had was good - but the main course itself was lackluster. Shrimp that tasted gritty and not fresh in a city known for its seafood. Maybe my fault for ordering seafood late on a Wednesday night.
Great service, great food, beautiful atmosphere!
