The BBQ Shrimp is amazing! Wonderful service and beautiful atmosphere.
Restaurant was pretty much empty when we arrived. Yet we were seated directly under the air conditioning vent. Our server was overly attentive. The smoked redfish appetizer was very good. The burger and chicken sandwich, were good but not great. The beignet dessert (3 very small ones) was disappointing.

Their fryer was broken so they could not serve all the items on the menu. However, the server was very accommodating and made sure we were able to order our food. The biscuits are to die for!

We had a large group of 10 for a business dinner and I stumbled onto this location after trying several others for reservations. The reviews were all dead in! This place is amazing. It was a pleasant 4 minute walk from our hotel. Our table was ready the minute we walked in. And, Patrick was totally amazing. I was so happy when he approached our table and said he was serving us as several others mentioned he was great.
The food was delicious, delivery in a timely manner and the suggestions offered on ordering was dead on! We have a fantastic dinner. The restaurant itself was super cool, very cozy and comfortable with a bit of a modern flare.
You will not be disappointed.
Great food and service even during Mardi Gras! We were a party of 6 and we all enjoyed our meals and drinks!

Great food! Great service!! But room was not inviting or warm feeling... and way too loud. My husband and I could not even have a conversation without yelling across the table.
Worst service we’ve had in very long time. Couldn’t get server’s attention for water refills or anything because she was nowhere to be found or talking and laughing with other staff and had her back to our table most of the night. Asked 3 times for check. Embarrassed to have brought out of town guests there for this experience.
Really too bad as food was quite good and interesting but in this market too many great options to put up with such a poorly run front of house.
What a wonderful place! Everything from the decor to food and drinks were fabulous. The redfish dip is a must. Delicious. We also had the redfish as the main course. It was perfectly cooked and beautifully served. Finally, you can’t pass up the salted caramel beignets. Delicious.
Laurel Oak was a last minute reservation and was the happiest stumble upon we could have asked for. If you eat here and are lucky enough to sit in Patrick's section be prepared for a few laughs and some witty repartee because he will bring it. The food is somehow both classic Southern fare that Grandma used to make and elevated cuisine worthy of any high end restaurant. Have some hush-puppies and some beignets to bookend your meal and you will not be disappointed. The duck confit fries are absolutely incredible as is the hanger steak that it comes with. The jerk duck is cooked perfectly and literally melts in the mouth. Don't worry about remembering any of this, though, because should you forget what delicious morsel you went for, Patrick will be waiting with a joke and a perfect suggestion. Come to New Orleans. Eat here. You will not regret it.
First time at Laurel Oak. Our waiter was great, attentive and informative. Food was ok but the value was way overpriced. Not enough food on the plate nor that tasteful for what we paid. The one particular thing that we did not appreciate nor happy about was the fact that we had to pay for water. If I remember correctly $8 a bottle. For a restaurant that is just starting out, we believe that’s just taking advantage of the customer. You are paying for the location and in my opinion you can get better food around the area for less.
We loved our waiter, Patrick. We made excellent suggestions, kept us apprised of when to expect our next course, and our drinks were refilled perfectly. But that's not the best part. The food was delicious. My husband said he could make a meal of the hush puppies. The flat iron steak was seared and done to perfection, and don't get me started on the fries finished in duck fat. Very French. The decor is beautifully modern chic. If we're ever back in NOLA we will return here.
I have my go-to restaurants in New Orleans, but my flight was delayed and this restaurant was recommended and was near my hotel. The wine list was solid and the cab I ordered was delicious. The dessert (the beignets) were outstanding - and that’s saying a lot in New Orleans. The side salad I had was good - but the main course itself was lackluster. Shrimp that tasted gritty and not fresh in a city known for its seafood. Maybe my fault for ordering seafood late on a Wednesday night.

Absolutely amazing and a must dine in New Orleans!!! The food was delightfully prepared with unique distinct touches. They made a southern favorite like hush puppies go from a comfort food classic to modern tasty cuisine. The food, the drinks, the service, and the ambience are all spot on. Coming from DC, I was this place was there! I cannot day enough about how much a of a hidden gem this place is and that the food is best value I’ve had in a long time. The chicken and sausage gumbo was super tasty (and much appreciated by those allergic to shellfish but enjoy gumbo), and the Springer Mountain Brick Chicken was the best chicken I’ve ever had. Many thanks to Stephanie for being a gracious server and host, and to the bar for our custom cocktails!
Fantastic food, surpassed expectations. Apps that you must try: Benton’s Ham Tartine and Tempura Maitake Mushrooms. We loved all the entrees we tried: Gnocchi, Hanger Steak, Jerk Duck, and Brick Chicken. Save room for dessert! Blue corn cake was divine, salted caramel beignets, and coconut custard were both excellent. Service was good, but could be more knowledgeable about the food and drink menu particulars. Value was there also, solid wine bottle options available with the $$$ price tag. Will definitely be back!
Overall found it super charming and a fun and unique expression of southern favorites. The smoked redfish dip, pimento burrata and blue corn cake sour cherry desert were all spot on!
This meal was exceptional five stars - best meal I have had in years - inventive flavorful fresh great presentation - beautiful space - pricing was on par with everywhere else we ate - do not leave without trying the star dish the hushpuppies; the burrata pimento was great (as for extra bread), the brick chicken was a winner and crispy cauliflower. I can’t wait to go back!
We love the casual, yet modern feel. The space is very light and roomy! Our server was excellent! She was attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious, however if you like large portions you may need to order more plates. We enjoyed the variety of choices and all were pleased with their dishes. When the food took longer than the owner’s wait time, we were given glasses of bubbly (we had not complained-all offered by restaurant ). We will be back!!!!

Both the food and the service were good. We had the hush puppies, redfish dip and cauliflower for appetizers, they tasted great and came out right away. It took a long time to get our entrees-we got the chicken sandwich and the hanger steak and both were good. The quality level and the pricing are a little mismatched, but overall not bad.
The biggest impact was the ambiance. The lighting over the tables is bright white LED bulbs. A lower lumen, warm bulb or a dimmer bulb would make for a better dining experience. The space is nicely finished in a lot of hard surfaces making it sound cavernous. It was hard to hear each other speak when sitting next to each other. Maybe add some textiles to the wall or acoustic panels on the ceiling to make it less jarring.
Overall it was a great night out, just a few tweaks and it would be up there on our list with Seaworthy and Josephine Estelle.

Outstanding find just off the French quarter. It’s a new place in the magnolia hotel. It has a really cool vibe and the service was fantastic. I started with their version of a Sazurac and loved it. We had a few apps including the burrata which was to die for. The fried chicken sandwich was the best I’ve ever had. I also tried my colleagues steak and it was delicious as well. I’ll definitely go back when I’m in town again.

Patrick was our server and he made our experience special. He recommended cocktails and dishes, all of which were exceptional. My husband has the red fish while I had the gnocchi. Oh so good. Definitely a find in the heart of NOLA.
Patrick served up with lots of personality and enthusiasm. The food was as he promised, delicious! He was quick to make recommendations and made our experience memorable! We will definitely keep this on our list for our next visit to New Orleans.
Enjoyed everything about this new spot in the CBD. My wife LOVED the duck and I really enjoyed the gumbo and chicken sandwich. Brownie dessert with banana was lovely.
What a wonderful meal. I highly recommend the mushroom dish over hummus. Hander steak with crab meat was melt in your mouth delicious. Beautiful restaurant and excellent staff. I’ll be back!
Amazing meal. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because there were shrimp shells in my entree (redfish).

When we arrived at laurel oak, we were pleasantly surprised at the ambience. It was modern and classic with a quiet well lite environment. Then the food... it was AMAZING. We had for starters the cauliflower and the hush puppies with honey and butter. Both were so good we could have licked our plates. The cauliflower was an Asian style sauce with peanuts and mint leaves which was to die for. The hushpuppies were served in a honey butter which was also delicious. One of us has the oysters in a jalapeño aioli. Hands down the best fried oysters we have ever had. My dad had the burger with duck fat fries which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the steak tartare and frites as well as the burrata with pimento cheese. We happened upon this spot but I predict that a few weeks from now you will have trouble getting reservations! We are going back for dinner tonight!!
AMAZING! Such good food, friendly service, and cute ambience. Our server explained everything to us in detail. Our cocktails were on point and the food was delicious. You won’t regret coming here for any occasion.
