Unusual and unforgettable experience at L’ATELIER
Love finding Parisian Haute Cuisine in West Chelsea! Finest of ingredients masterfully prepared into delicious “bites” (portions are not large, but satisfying). Most seats are at the counter which is a plus—lots of beautiful decor to enjoy as well as the choreography of the exquisite kitchen. Service is just right, there when you need it, but never intrusive. A special gourmet experience!
The whole experience was outstanding. When we first knew that we would be seated at a counter we were a little dubious but found that the interaction with the staff, which is inevitable, enables a better understanding of the wine and food. We decided on the winter tasting menu and each dish was a delight.
We settled on two glasses of Chenin Blanc followed by a bottle of St. Joseph from J..L. Chave. Both were very good especially the latter. We were fortunate to meet the head chef, Christophe Bellanca, who was very personable and explained his perspective on food. Overall we rated the evening one of the best dining experiences that we have ever had and this includes Per Se and the French Laundry.
Wow! We were very impressed by the food and service. Everything was fantastic. The setting is also beautiful. We were also taken into the kitchen for a photo-op. Just a wonderful evening overall. Thank you!
Simply wonderful !! One of the best eating experiences in my life
Overall, we had a great experience!!! The staff was very friendly, service was great, and the food was exceptional!
One of the top, anywhere in the world, as usual.
Amazing all around!! Our meal was incredibly delicious and the service was spectacular. So much attention to detail. Thank you to the staff, everyone made our night special.
One of the best food experiences ever!
Beautiful place, discreet and efficient service and most, most importantly, wonderful food!
Amazing food and exquisite. Thought it deserves 3 Michelin Stars.
The server to our right and the couple they were serving were talking non stop of every best Restruant they had ever been to. All too pretentious and a complete interference to those of us who were trying to enjoy the meal in front of us which was great.
Delicious! Everything we ate was incredible and perfectly cooked. We had the evolution menu and even added the black truffle spaghetti. From start to finish, excellent. We sat at the counter where the server was there for your every need. Service was attentive, knowledgable and very friendly. Bravo. We will be back very soon!
Excellent meal. Well-balanced and well paced.
We (party of 2) spent New Year's Eve at L'Atelier in their first seating for their New Year's Eve pre fixe menu. We were seated at the bar, which had a great view of the open kitchen. We got two drinks (one alcoholic and one non-alcoholic). The food was extremely good and delivered in a timely manner. We were able to select from a few options for courses one through three, in addition to the amuse-bouche.
This was a New Years Eve dinner and it was a disappointing experience. The menu was a pretty good value on paper with 6 courses for $155. This is the first time I’ve been to a restaurant by Joel Robuchon but there were few things that made me feel like it did not live up to its name.
1. The speed of which food was served was too rushed.
Each course came almost right after the previous was finished. There’s only very brief pauses in between each courses and it doesn’t leave you with enough time to really appreciate each item.
2. There was lobster shell in the lobster course.
The lobster shell in that lobster course was the tipping point for the experience. I don’t think lobster shells should be in a restaurant of this caliber. The fact that we found shells in the food shows that they’re not detail oriented during the preparation process.
Overall very disappointed with this meal.
It was great
Hard to know where to start?? Almost spot on from start to finish. The tasting menus are great however - I love the fact that you can create your own from the a la carte as well. Scallop in leeks and Jura wine sauce were mesmerizing.
And stupidly enough - they actually properly fed you! Expensive but worth it. Only slip up was they tried to charge my dessert which was part of my tasting menu. And - I’d prefer some deeper choices for “glass pours”.
Our 3rd time, and I’m sure we’ll be back for our 4th and many more!
So much better than when it was in the hotel in NY. The experience starts with the room, which is great and the open kitchen and just gets better and better. The food was exceptional and beautifully presented. The wine we chose was delicious and relatively fairly priced, although generally the wine list is pricey, particularly when you have quite a few of the wines at home.
Outstanding, as usual! Food is amazing and beautifully set, service is top notch. Loudness is a bit much (music plays slightly too loud for my taste).
Is it possible to give more than 5 stars? Incredible experience, and we have enjoyed our share of excellent meals around the world. Enjoyed tasting menu while seated at the counter. Wonderful presentation of food, with explosive flavors at every turn. Wonderfully paired wines. The service was at the same time professional, knowledgeable, but somehow also down to Earth. Joe did a fantastic job. Foie gras amuse, frog legs croquette, black truffle ice cream, and one of the most beautiful main desserts I’ve ever seen highlighted our menu. And the pommes purées-they probably shaved a year off our life span, but It’s a worthy trade off!
The food taste a bit challenging
Food is not good enough and waiting for food for a very long time
L’ATELIER de Joël Robuchon is unmatched. The service is amazing and the food is delicious. It’s quite an experience that should be enjoyed by everyone whom has the opportunity to do so. Highly recommend this spectacular restaurant.
As always, You will not be dissapointed at l’Atelier, food is fantastic.
Everything was amazing.
Eating here is an adventure. Many small dishes to try. There is no need to have a main course. One of the best restaurants in New York.
Christmas menu was not as good as normal tasting menu.
L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon is one of my 2, or 3, most favorite restaurants in the US. The food is imaginative, delicious, and memorable: for instance in our last visit on the Christmas Eve, the well prepared Dover Sole was presented with white truffle occupying the place of the removed vertebrae. Even the simple mashed potatoes taste like no other neighboring restaurants, (It is sublime).
Avril the maitre d is very knowledgable, and helpful. She even remembers what glass of wine you enjoyed the previous time that you were there. Service is measured, competent, and unlike most French restaurants, very friendly. The ambiance is perhaps the most beautiful in NY, and the place to sit is at the counter.
L' Atelier de Joel Robuchon is a very well managed restaurant, and the price/value relationship is quite reasonable.
We’ve very much enjoyed the prix fixe menu on Christmas Eve. Food is absolutely phenomenal, ambience and service was spot on. All in all, probably the best dining experience we’ve ever had.
Amazing food! Loved the environment and the service was very friendly!
Food, and service always top notch!
Absolutely the best tasting menu in NYC in taste, quality, quantity, and attention to detail. Staff was fabulous, and when we waved our pleasure to chef Christophe who was orchestrating the food presentation, he waved us back into his open-format kitchen to thank us for our patronage- complete with allowing a memorable selfie. Summary: Do This!
One of my favorite restaurants!
Outstanding food. Perfectly executed. Absolutely delicious. Every dish was perfect. Service top notch. Worth the cost.
Superb food, friendly and helpful staff who knew the food and were happy to help with decisions about which dishes to go for. The sommelier was the antithesis of the stereotype and could not have been more helpful and kind. All in all, it made for a fantastic evening!
