L'Atelier d'Argentine Vieux-Port - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
On family vacation in Montreal, wanted a steak meal on our last night there,.in the old town. Great friendly service, very good steaks, interesting wine list, good puddings too! Not too crowded on a Friday evening but a good buzz. The Completas sharing board for two was excellent.
Waiter was fantastic and attentive. The reserved table was wonderfully selected. The delivery of food was perfect timing , not to quick not to slow,. Amazing drinks. Food was uneven but still good ( steak was a little undercooked but my mistake, i didn't realize the chef was that good at getting the exact cuisson that you ask for unlike other restaurants where you need to undershoot on stakes ) . Considering we were a group or 8 during the 5 a 7 special time there could have been a better deal . 100$ is a little steep for each person on avg for a quiet night out. However the atmosphere , music and waiter made it worth it , just that I don`t think I will be coming every week ! Still for sure recommending. Not disappointing at all
Excellent restaurant... I went for lunch with a colleague and it was a great option. I had the humita which is made with sweet corn. I thought I was ordering traditional tamal but they were slightly different but just as good! After I had the burger with fries which were excellent... I haven't had a good burger like that in a while, it was tasty, full of flavor and well cooked. To finish I also took a drink which was delicious and well mix (unfortunately, I don't remember what is was )
We booked via open table online for 14 people at 10 pm. They have a very reasonable late night menu. Unfortunately, the majority of the table arrived at 10:30. They informed us that they no longer had our table because we were late and that we were going to have to wait another 15 minutes. I asked them why didn't call me and they replied they called me 3 times. I showed them my phone and informed them that they did not call me and asked them which number they called. The number the hostess had was not my number. She then told me that clients are supposed to call when they're late, which is true, but was a little disrespectful. The food was ok, a few people didn't eat their meals because it wasn' edible. However the waiter was accommodating.
The meat was delicious as was the desserts. I had the Mediterranean Sea bass which was an underwhelming dish, not bad, but I expected more. It was on a bed of underseasoned grains and potatoes. Many of my mussels in the dish were tightly shut and thus I did not eat them. Perhaps a broth would have elevated the dish a bit.
In spite of this, I'd definitely recommend this place for their wonderful cuts of beef, drinks, and dessert. The server recommended a delicious Malbec that was raved by my family.
My husband and I enjoyed a date night in Old Montreal and took a chance on this restaurant, not being super familiar with the area. What a great experience! The decor is beautiful, and we had a great spot by a window overlooking the street which we loved. The service was excellent, our waiter was knowledgeable and made great suggestions. Our drinks and food arrived in a good amount of time - not too quickly, and we weren't kept waiting either. The food was delicious. We had risotto and fontina fritters, roasted corn soup, filet mignon with sweet potatoes and the Argentinian bife de chorizo with roasted mushroom salad. We managed to find space for dessert too, and shared the ricotta and lemon cake with berries. We would certainly recommend this restaurant to others, and will gladly return when we come back to Montreal!
It's been a few times that I've reserved at atelier d'Argentine. We were there for Easter brunch. First I found it kind of odd that someone called no only to confirm the number of people, but to confirm how the bills would be split?!? Yes I was aware that the food wasn't free and that we would have to pay after brunch.... second the service was really really really (did I say really?) bad! Thx god the food was good. Over the years I find this place to be a hit or miss... this time, the food saved it!
Very loud environment, nightclub level. Appetizers of decent level, desserts excellent. Steak highly disappointing, especially for an Argentinian restaurant. Ordered the 10 oz tenderloin medium. Came out well done Sent it back. Waited 15 minutes. Replacement was butterflied, so half the original thickness. Not surprisingly it was not medium either. Very disappointing in light of Argentinian beef tradition. Friendly staff not sufficient to offset disappointing chef's performance.
A friend of mine had told me that the food there was not that great (overpriced) but I decided to still go and taste for myself. I have to agree that the food wasn't great and I am actually not picky at all when it comes to food. I was also disappointed with the service. Waiters always seemed in a rush and as if we were not their priority. Almost felt like we weren't welcomed. No water re-fill and I had to ask for more wine, it wasn't offered/suggested. Overall, definitely not a place I would go again given that parking in the area is so difficult and overall experience wasn't good. The only thing I liked there was the decor and ambiance. I am not one to complain, I always am grateful for any experience I have. However, I was given the opportunity to rate this restaurant and figured I should be honest with my review. Thanks.
