Wanted to try out the place. Visiting NYC
When I booked the reservation, I noted that it was a special occasion (anniversary), and as soon as we sat down, we were poured complimentary champagne to congratulate us. That was a really nice touch! We had two cheese and the ricotta appetizer special - they were all amazing. I had the garganetti with mushroom ragu sauce, which turned out to be really heavy for my liking but it was still delicious. They also brought us a small plate of complimentary ravioli! The service and food was really superb for the price. I am going back very soon.
We had waited quite some time to snag a table at this highly touted spot. I had heard only terrific reports about the food. Even with a 5:45 reservation, we were told to wait at the bar. Not sure why as it was pretty empty. We sat in the smaller dining area upstairs and it still wasn't filled when we left about 7:15. So, I'm not really understanding why it is so hard to get reservations. But that aside, let's talk about the food. The drinks were brought promptly but we did need to ask for bread which was not refreshed. I guess we would have had to ask. We had a really lovely chichories salad...a very ample portion which we then shared. My friend had the escolar avocado, chilies, lemon, and basil appetizer which was really unusual and tasty with interesting flavors. My only comment was that it was served so cold that you needed to wait for it to defrost properly. At that point, while we were still consuming the salad, a waiter came over and asked if we were finished because our meal was ready. Really? They couldn't get the timing right? I think it was there job to figure out when we might be finished with our first course rather than tell us our meal was waiting for us! We suggested they hold off as we weren't finished and really didn't like being rushed. (It still was not busy) . When we finished our salad, they brought our main dishes; the garganelli with mushrooms and ricotta salata which was bordering on "hard" rather than al dente and was way too spicy without noting that on the menu. My branzino came out overcooked, almost crispy, I guess from sitting under heating lamps waiting us to finish up our first course. The fish sat on top of a huge gathering of various olives which was surely overkill unless they were overbought on olives and did little to create a tasty dish. The normal tender flavor of the branzino was killed by the strong olive taste. In my mind a misconceived dish. All and all, a big disappointment after all the hype.
The food was very good. However, the portion size was small. Our main courses looked like appetizers. We left the restaurant unsatisfied. Also the service was slow. The waiter did not attend to our table as often as he should have. It was not the kind of experience I expected at a pricey restaurant.
Executive Chef Joe Vigorito's creations were fresh, innovative, and perfectly executed! The ambiance is a warm, contemporary vibe with a great, relaxed energy. We ordered a drink at bar while our party arrived, and we could overhear other guests raving over their meals. The bartender made a great first impression. The entire staff was engaged and knowledgeable. The service was attentive and personalized. We ordered so many things as a group and we tasted them all.. nothing failed us. I would recommend this memorable experience to anyone!
We had high hopes for this restaurant but we're incredibly underwhelmed given the hype around it. The food is not bad, but it certainly is not of the level that my wife and I expected.
Our greatest frustration was the wait for our table. We arrived 15 min early expecting that there may be a short wait but then had to wait an additional 15-20 min. The front of the house seemed overcrowded and disorganized with plenty of people waiting to be seated for their reservation. We felt particularly bad for the couple with a wife who was very pregnant and stood there waiting equally as long for a table.
As to the food, the Octopus seemed very complicated with tons of other components and over cooked. The Kale Salad was fine, 90% Kale though. Had to search for the other components. The pasta dishes were generally fine, but again slightly underwhelming. In retrospect wish we would have gone to Maialino, Oceana, Stanton Social, Beauty & Essex, Marea or elsewhere. Very disappointing.
Best restaurant in NYC. Simple as that.
Great Waiters and Negroni
Great date Resto! Cool vibe, friendly people who make sure you find what's best for you off the menu filled with delicious choices. We had a beautiful burrata, squid ink carbonara and their special spaghetti with chilli and spices. Personalized service, you'll leave sated and feeling like you've just made a friend.
One of the best meals of my life. L'Artusi is a great dinner spot with a really cool atmosphere. The intimate dining room keeps adjacent tables close together, but provides for a very entertaining meal. Whether you are on the first floor with the bar or upstairs near the private dining room (where we saw some SNL cast members), the dining experience is well-rounded.
The food is beyond incredible. The homemade ricotta (not listed on the menu) is a must-have. We ordered two pasta dishes, each perfectly cooked and amazingly flavorful. You can tell the staff really cares about their customers. All around a fantastic place for a special meal. Just be sure to book well in advance.
Delicious food and ambience. Attentive waitstaff. A great experience will definitely be back.
Incredible food and service especially for seriously reasonable prices. Crudo, appetizers, pasta selections, cocktails and entrees are all fantastic!
We celebrated my husband's birthday recently at L'Artusi, and it was fantastic. To start with, they seated us in their private wine cellar (not reserved, just got lucky) so the noise level was much less. Our waiter was personable and kind with many great food and wine recommendations. The food speaks for itself-- fresh, al dente pasta and incredible flavor combinations. The escolar crudo was so delicious I felt like I could eat it for breakfast everyday (and I am by no means a fish-lover). What impressed me the most was the generosity of the kitchen and our server: We got an extra top-off on our wine, a little plate of broccoli rabe ravioli on the house, and a lovely dessert with candle for the birthday wish. Prices were completely reasonable by city standards and for the quality of ingredients and preparation ($150 for a plate of house made ricotta, the crudo, a beet salad, two pasta entrees and 3 glasses of wine). We will definitely return.
excellant meal and experience professional waitstaff awesome
front desk just needs to be co ordinated better had reservation waited 30 min
to be seated at 5;40 definatly go back tho
Food is great but experience is not. It’s noisy, rushed, food gets dumped on your table. Not worth the hype.
The food was flavored very well. The only negative was that the pasta was really almost room temperature.
I was disappointed in this. I waited two years to finally eat here and I would have enjoyed it more if my dinner was warm or hot.
The flavors of the food was excellent though.
Brunch was great
L’Artusi is an absolute must in New York City. It’s one of the hardest reservations I’ve ever gotten, but it was worth the hype plus more.
The ricotta and jam, smoked mushrooms, and olive oil cake are 3 of the best foods I’ve ever tasted. Each pasta was better than the one before it and the italian wine made the experience that much better.
This unassuming, although a bit loud, restaurant in the west village is a gem and no matter what food you like, everyone will enjoy this meal.
The food was DELICIOUS. Just go. From the scallop crudo to the chicory salad to the pappardelle to the branzino to the desserts, absolutely scrumptious.
The restaurant ambience is great and the food is divine. We had the pork chop which was succulent inside and crispy outside and tasted amazing. The spaghetti was so simple and yet so good.
everything was great - the homemade ricotta, the mushroom appetizer, sweetbreads, and the pastas! you have to have the pasta...this is a great place to come with a few friends so you can share a lot of dishes.
Was underwhelmed. Food wasn’t timed right and our waitress wasn’t that attentive... a lot of places make good pasta.
Unimpressed - food is not bad but easily forgettable. Waited for so long for this reservation and it was a flop. None of the 6 ppl drop our party were amazed. Overall - an ok experience.
Lartusi is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Came here this past week to celebrate my birthday. For the first time ever, the service was poor. We were seated and not greeted or given menus for 10 minutes. The rest of the service continued very slow. The food is always good. Also disappointed to be sitting upstairs and not downstairs, especially since reservation was made 30 days out.
Dining at L’Artusi was such a great experience. The food was delicious! The spaghetti dish was our favorite, however everything was great. The service was impeccable. The staff was so friendly and did not make us feel rushed at all. They paid attention to little details and they made note of my request to sit downstairs in the main dining area. They also gave us a complimentary dessert for my sister’s birthday. Loved the whole experience!
I had a great experience at L’Artusi! I enjoyed everything so much, the mushroom with the sunny side up egg I could easily eat for breakfast lunch and dinner. We also got the pasta with the sausage and salami, i think the pasta could’ve been softer (but that could be a personal preference also). The waitress was so sweet to give us a dessert on the house for our anniversary! As we were leaving we booked a future reservation to bring my mom back!!! Looking forward to it!
I was very excited to try but service and food didn’t live up to all the great reviews. The food had absolutely no seasoning. Disappointed is an understatement, will not return.
Great restaurant- a bit noisy if you are seated opposite the bar. Wonderful attentive service.
Great food, wonderful service. It was noisy as hell but not due to obnoxious patrons; just a vibrant atmosphere and active bar crowd. Would absolutely go back.
Romantic place with incredible food, wine and service.
A really wonderful dinner, with great service and a vibe that makes one feel so welcome. The butter lettuce salad continues to impress, and the mushroom pasta dish was excellent. The steak and roasted potatoes continues to be one of those dishes that you feel should be on every menu that serves red meat. All in all, a superb evening.
What a fantastic meal! We are so glad we found this place!
Was very underwhelmed with the food. Heard such great things but our mains were so bland and flavorless
Best Best Food!!
Absolutely lovely other than the proximity between tables; noise level very high for an intimate setting.
Food was fantastic and our waitress Heather was so great. It was my boyfriends birthday and Heather made the evening very special.
Great service, amazing food. Can’t go wrong.
We had 8 different dishes and each one was delicious and unique. Had a couple of the special tonight which were new to us and excellent. .Another wow meal. Arrived a little early and was able to be seated. The ambiance is warm and inviting,
