This might be the best value for your money restaurant in NYC. Had an amazing meal; will be daydreaming all week about the ricotta cheese special!
Still dynamic, attentive and fun, with the best pasta in nyc. Perfect.
I had dinner here with a friend. After trying to get a reservation for about a year we finally scored one. Given its popularity we were expecting "outstanding," Instead it was "very good." Without the hype we'd probably think about coming back, but in the end it didn't feel worth the extra effort. The decor is rustic with lots of wood, attractive but not memorable. The noise levels are pretty high, but manageable for conversation. The food ranged from superb to very good. The bread is excellent, with peppery olive oil reminiscent of the best of Tuscany. The shishito peppers were wonderful, and the standout was the special burrata and stoned fruits and tomato appetizer. The burrata was the creamiest I've ever had. We then split their signature pssta dish, spaghetti with garlic scapes and parmesan. It was simple but delicious. We had the swordfish and branzino entrees. Both were very good. Not ethereal, but well prepared and tasty. We did not have dessert. Service was generally good but uneven. One server told us the specials and then our main server came to do the same. When our server helped with us the wine list (apparently there is no sommelier) I asked for a red that would go well with seafood at a particular price limit. He pointed me to one a dollar below my limit, then one that was $9.00 above it. I dislike that way of dealing with customers, as it gives an impression of pushing more expensive wines rather than satisfying the customer's desires. It also puts the customer in the awkward position of having to say "that's over the limit I asked for." We also ordered the peppers after seeing them on other tables because we'd missed them on the menu. When they didn't come out with the other appetizer we asked about it and our server told us he arranged for them to come with the pasta. But he had not asked us when we wanted them. Overall, very good but I don't understand the hype.
First time experience was great. Staff were wonderful and very attentive. Loved the recommendations our server suggested and they even brought out a nice little ice cream with candle for my husband’s birthday. Food was delicious and will go back again!
The food was mediocre at best. Octopus was chewy, pork chop was half fat and the rest was chewy. Their "signature" mushroom dish was nothing special. We had a couple good glasses of wine. The space is extremely cramped and noisy and the clientele are unsavory. If you are there for a meeting or on a date, bar seating is likely a better option.
Amazing combinations of ingredients. Like a party for my palate. Def worth the wait For reservations. I will be back!
Excellent food, excellent service, we were celebrating our anniversary and it did not disappoint. Flavors were delicate and well executed. Fresh and scrumptious- would return in a heart beat!!
Sat Upstairs and appreciated that it was a little quieter than downstairs. Really liked some new additions to the menu especially the tuna Crudo which was a very refreshing preparation. Food is consistently excellent.
Everything was wonderful ... the ricotta was amazing . BucAtini was perfect . The only disappointing thing was the branzino which was almost no fish and all olives . Nikki was a fabulous server.
Raspberry stracciatella yummm
Very good food, elegant restaurant. Poor service. The waiter didn’t understand the order of the dishes we explicitly said. Also, the food arrived before the bottle of wine we ordered: this is an unforgivable mistake for a restaurant like L’Artusi.
I visit LArtusi every time I visit NYC (or at least when I can get a reservation). It is probably my favorite restaurant in the city. I have been here many times and have never been disappointed. The food is amazing, the service always on point, and it's got a great overall vibe.
Simply amazing, booked a month before, worth the wait.
Overall, I liked the pastas and ricotta cheese and mushroom appetizers we tried, but not sure if I would go back given how hard it is to get a reservation here.
The manager and staff are exceptional and went above and beyond. Love coming here.
Awesome food and environment. Knowledgeable staff. Never disappoints!
Everything was amazing food environment and service. They even wished my girlfriend happy birthday with a cake from my notes in Opentable
Took my out-of-town parents to L'Artusi and WOW did we have such an incredible experience! We were promptly seated for our reservation and greeted by the most personable and knowledgeable waitstaff. The space is beautiful and the food/drinks not only are presented like art, they taste incredible! Everything we ordered was delicious and expertly recommended. One thing I have to mention was the branzino came with way too many olives (the fish was presented on an entire bed of olives) that took away from the delicate flavour of the fish and made the dish quite salty, though that's just our taste. Overall, amazing and worth waiting a month for the reservation
Amazing food & service! We ordered beef cappaccio and apricot ricotta for appetizer. For the pastas we ordered the famous garganelli and todays special octopus pasta which was fantastic. We were so full but had to finish with the olive oil cake!!! So delicious! Its so hard to get a reservation but i would def go back :)
Service is outstanding and food is very good. Tables are very close together and volume is quite loud. The private room looks great.
Another wonderful dining experience - food was great and the waiter fantastic
What a wonderful meal! Firstly, or service was incredible. Very knowledgeable and friendly! Most of the reviewers have tackled this so much of this is an echo.
Get the housemade ricotta. The roasted mushrooms were my favorite dish of the night. The carpaccio was extremely thin and had the perfect amount of salt. Delightful!
Pasta was it was all about the spaghetti for be. It was so light and strong on garlic. It was magnificent!! All the pastas were perfectly cooked. The beet ravioli was extremely well done.
The pork chop was incredible. Perfectly medium, juicy and delicious!
As far as dessert goes, I think the rhubarb gelee overwhelmed the Panna Cotta. I wouldn't get that again. The hazelnut chocolate ganache is crazy good, but the olive oil cake is to die for. You can't go wrong there!!
13/10 would go again
As usual, L'Artusi is the best! The service, the food, every little thing is (always) perfect. Already excited for next month's visit.
I loved the food, ambience and the service. After a long time, I had enjoyed good Italian fare to this extent, reminded me of my food experience while backpacking across Italy. It was not pretentious or too formal, the atmosphere was warm and cozy. Will come back when I visit NYC again.
Lartusi is excellent. By far one of the best restaurants I have been to. Excellent in every category from start to finish. The food and service are outstanding
We had the most delicious and enjoyable meal. My husband and I are foodies from Chicago, visiting NYC for the weekend. We chose L'Artusi based on great reviews and it did not disappoint. The venue is beautiful and the food is some of the best, most authentic Italian food we've ever had. Our waiter, Dennis, was so friendly and knowledgeable. He guided most of our selection, including the bottle of wine we ordered. Stars of the show: the housemade ricotta, the pici, the roasted chicken, and the olive oil cake. I regret not ordering the bucatini, we'll have to come back!
After living here for 15 years, LArtusi easily fits into a top all-time favorite. If you're lucky enough to get reservations, GO! If you can't get reservations? Beg, borrow and steal your way in... it's worth it. The service is impeccable, the staff is insanely friendly and the food is amazing!
Food here is good! Portions larger than expected. However, the atmosphere and the food don't go together. Strange mix of music as well. Had no idea MJ's Thriller was popular within modern Italian culinary circles.
Outstanding food, but rushed through the dining experience.
An absolute find in the West village! Had a 10:45pm reservation and brought my 10 year old son; this automatically made him the most current 10 year old in all of NYC. The food was spectacular. Had their standard spaghetti. It was light, with just the right amount of bite. Jeb took care of us all night and was awesome!
Sat at bar this time instead of table but experience and service was equally wonderful.
My husband and I live in Manhattan and dine out about three nights per week. With that said, we are seldom in the area of West 10th Street --but were this past Saturday night to see a production at The Barrow Street Theater. I searched for a restaurant in the area and, based on reviews on Open Table, reserved at L'Artusi. I am very, very glad I did. My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful time. The food was excellent, the wine delicious and very good value, and, above all, the service could not be improved upon--starting with our welcome at the door and continuing with our waiter, Dennis. And I must give a special call out to Dennis. He was extremely solicitous (without being obsequious) as well as knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. We will return to L'Artusi soon--and won't even need a show in the area to do so.
Delicious food and excellent service. We loved the beef cappaccio . The fish and pastas were great. We were a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their dinner.
My second visit to this restaurant, and both were outstanding. Superb food, excellent wine and amari lists, delightfully good service, this is a very well-run place. High energy, warm vibes about the place. The staff works hard and seems to be having fun. I highly recommend.
I was so looking forward to this experience perhaps my expectations were a bit high!
There seemed to be a bit of a disconnect in the service. Servers, hostess and manager were polite but were in robotic mode . I could tell they were just going through the motions.
I ordered the octopus as an app my fiance a mushroom pasta dish. My lobster was so spicy that it made my mouth numb. I am no stranger to spice but this was mind numbing, can't feel my face two hours later numb. I just could not understand why Octopus would be cooked this way. A manager approached me as she saw the look on my face and app barely touched. I told her the dish was way to spicy her response wonderful, great great! She was not even listening to what I said, just going through the motions... The waiter came asked the same I responded the same and his response yes the lemon pepper is very hot !? Yet again someone just going through the motions.
For a main my fiance ordered the Lamb Shank and I the Bolognese pasta.
His Lamb shank was covered in some type of Asian BBQ glaze, a very bizarre way to cook Lamb.
Needless to say the meal underwhelmed us as did the service
. To summarize great decor & ambience. Disconnected service. The pastas were good. Would I return NO
Outstanding in every way. Delicious food, warm and welcoming service, great atmosphere.
Amazing staff and service. Mushroom salad was to die for. Great for celebrating events, will definitely be back!!
The food is surprisingly mediocre - similar dishes and quality to what I used to make in college. Nothing is high-quality, it's all just fine.
We were prompt
