Birthday dinner. Service was a bit slow but the food was great. Crispy potatoes were very underrated - might be th best thing on the menu!
A very busy and lively atmosphere. Well worth getting a difficult reservation and making the trip. Delicious, thoughtful, well-crafted food.
We shared an amazing Roquefort cheese and hazelunt salad over butter lettuce. Our entries were delicious (Branzino, Orechette pasta). And the chocolatey desserts were rich and tasty.
Service was also exceptional. Our waiter was very patient, friendly and helpful.
Only criticisms were the tables are pretty close - not much intimate privacy so you make friends with your fellow foodies, and it is generally on the noisy side.
Good, not great. Kitchen was so noisy I could not hear the waitress. Food was meh. I had the pork chop, 40% of it was fat and it really had no flavor. Daughter ordered swordfish which we had to send back as it was more sushi than cooked. Wine list was over priced. Salads were plain and otherwise not noteworthy. Ordered two deserts received one, but they didn't charge us. This is the second time we've eaten there, the first time was for brunch. There are so many good places to eat in the west village, and honestly I don't get the hype, we won't be coming back.
Food was excellent in all that was offered on the menu & specials. However, we felt rushed by the staff/servers. Multiple servers for our table were not coordinated or did not communicate with each other. Cocktail drinks not correct. Otherwise they appeared somewhat earnest.
Consistently delicious. Love the additions for spring.
Fantastic restaurant! Creative menu and great service!
Everything was great! Everyone was pleasant. I will definitely go back again.
great food and service the pork chop was outstanding
The food was fantastic. Staff were sensational. It was our anniversary and we’d travelled from Australia and never had better service. Awesome
innovative fresh and traditional all in one
Will for sure return
One of NYC’s best restaurants
We were placed at chefs table as a pleasant surprise. Great experience overall. Food was good, but the wine was a bit mediocre. The olive oil cake lives up to the “hype”. Superb! Will definitely come back for our next visit
Great spot in the Village to eat fantastic food. Impeccable service. Inventive, non-flashy takes on pasta dishes. Always enjoyable. Excellent wine lists with offerings for every budget. Highly recommended.
Our favorite restaurant never lets us down and Dennis and the staff are amazing!
Incredible dinner. Food is next level amazing. Can’t wait to go back
The ricotta cheese and roasted mushrooms were amazing.
Undercooked pancakes - had to send back. Replacement took forever. Ended up cancelling the order. Will not come back.
I could go on and on about how, overall, my experience at L'Artusi is one of the best dining experiences I have had. For the value, you won't get better authentic Italian food anywhere. We ate our way through the menu and did not have one bad thing to say. The ravioli is sent from god, I swear. For my parents' anniversary, they started us with complimentary bubbly which was a very hospitable gesture that started the night off in a special way for my family. From service to the cuisine, absolutely brilliant. 10/10.
Wow! 4 days in NYC and ate in 8 well researched restaurants of various price points and genres. The hands down winner! I went there for the crudos, which were amongst the best of many I have ever had, and the rest was every bit as good. Just awesome! Very casual and hip ambience. Reasonably priced wines with sommelier that directed me to wines that were not over the top.
Presentation was on par with the higher starred Michelins that we dined at on this trip. Very refined and distinctive dishes that were original but not overdone. The pastas were the best I have ever had in NYC or elsewhere.
Service was perhaps a tiny bit rushed and the chicken secondi was only OK but I cannot say enough good things about the experience. I will be back!!!
Really great food and wine experience.
Love this place
Food was spot on - delicious hangar steak, frittata was amazing and don’t skip the basket of pastries
The service was excellent and the manager was very knowledgeable about the wines. The crudo, salad and pasta were all wonderful, unfortunately the entrée was disappointing. Dessert was delicious.
Second time at L’Artusi and it was as good as the first time, which was incredible.
The food, the ambiance, the service are all 5 Stars.
I can’t say enough good things about L’Artusi. The elegant table and glassware set the stage. The homemade ricotta was amazing as were the salads, pasta dishes, Branzino and Brussels sprouts. So many special touches with each dish that were so delicious but not fussy. Dessert was cheesecake and it was wonderful. We did a flight of Amaro’s at the end of the meal and the sommelier listened to our preferences and came back with four for us to try vs the three advertised. She spent time with us explaining each one. It was one of the evening’s highlights. This was a special birthday celebration and it was soooo good. Really quite perfect.
The only challenge is getting a reservation. I stayed up until midnight 30 days before the Saturday night we wanted a table. I logged into Open Table and typed in as fast as I could and got......5:30pm.
Food was great and service too
The service, atmosphere and food were all incredible! I had the ravioli pyramids with red kale, ricotta, pear, walnuts and Gorgonzol and it was absolutely the best thing I ate during our seven day nyc vacation! I wish I remembered our servers name bc he was outstanding.
Just a great dining experience! the cheese and crackers, the mushrooms and the pasta all excellent. and the hazelnut torte with salted caramel gelato was to die for, But the highlight of the experience was Martin out server! The wine he recommended was great and his choices of the 3 amaris we tasted was exceptional! Thanks martin! Hope to be back soon!
Always amazing. What makes a great restaurant is one that is consistently great every time. That is L’Artusi. Whatever we have is creative and delicious.. Service is excellent. The wine list extensive with many reasonable options, but you can’t go wrong with their cocktails either. And we think it’s a great value. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming. Truly a special place.
Reserve well ahead for tables. .
LArtusi is one of my favorite places in NY. An impressive wine list, excellent food, great service, classy ambiance - everything is on the highest level. We, a party of three, arrived 30 min earlier for dinner and were sat immediately on a larger table for 6. This was our second time here, and we couldn’t get over how all dishes were just outstanding - we were joking that we need to order everything from the menu to find something that wasn’t excellent. This is one of my favorite restaurants ever, I can’t recommend it enough! Also, it’s right next to my favorite NY jazz club - Smalls - so you could come dine here before or after performances!
Food was amazing!!! Highly recommend if you can get a res.
We had a wonderful time! The food was fantastic! Great atmosphere as well.
Favorite restaurant in NYC 6+ years running. Never disappoints, not even a little
Absolutely fabulous. Every. Single. Interaction. I had a 9:15 reservation for two, but my brother decided to join us and the hostesses were happy to accommodate us. I was shocked it was even possible, but they gave us a lovely corner table. My husband arrived right from the airport and they also stored three backs for him-so appreciative! The server was fantastic and we never had to look twice to have a water glass or cocktail refilled. I had the hanger steak and it was out of this world. The crispy potatoes were incredible and it also came with a whipped chive cream of some sort? I’m not exactly sure what it was, but it was a great compliment to the meal. We also did Brussel sprouts and they were delicious. This is a hard restaurant to get in to, but I’m SO happy I made the reservations a month ago. Best meal I’ve had in a long time-and my husband and I are quite the foodies!! Well done, L’Artusi!
I brought my girlfriend to l’atrusi on Tuesday night for her bday and our experience was horrible. Firstly the table provided to us was inconvenient and was next to the kitchen, we had people on both sides of us and we could hear each other speak because the tables next to us were very loud. Then we asked the waiter for help with the menu and he did walk us through it but he made us order so much food that we could not finish... 3 dishes were more than enough for 2 people but we ended having 5 dishes. Lastly, i ordered an icecream and cake with candles on it for to surprise her. Since it was only the two of us I expected a happy moment for her, where usually the waitresses help and sing happy bday together. Instead it, they dropped the cake at the table, said a very cold “Happy Birthday “ and walked away. She was looking at me so disappointed, that she didn’t even wanted to blow the candles. I know how special her bday is and I thought I made the best decision knowing that she loves italian food.
She said it was the saddest birthday of her life, she hated the food, the service , it was supposed to be a happy memory for us. My girlfriend left the restaurant crying and I will never forgive myself for bringing her this terrible experience.
Gracious yet unpretentious service. Excellent meal. Strikes a great balance that is 'just right'. Gen Mgr knows hospitality. Mushrooms with fried egg, olive oil cake, are truly that good. We had a non mushroom eater that went back for more. My daughter had the seemingly simplest pasta on the menu and it was superb. (Would not recommend this restaurant for young children but our food savvy teens really enjoyed it. Despite slightly tight quarters as many NYC restaurants, each table enjoys cozy & comfortable ambience.)
Always a pleasure dining @ this west village gem
My previous meal at L'Artusi was fabulous. This time, it was more of a mixed experience. Service is great - let's get that said right away. And two pasta dishes were terrific - the ravioli pyramide are both beautiful and scrumptious and the orecchiette with sausage, although over-salted, were delicious. Octopus was okay; crispy sweetbreads were awful and the server took them off our bill. The olive oil cake is divine.
We went to three different Italian restaurants whilst in NYC and l’artusi Was by far the best.
The food looked and tasted great.
Was truly an unbelievable experience! From the host to our server and the FOOD. Everything was worth the hype and the month long wait. I would love to come back often. I hope reservations stop filling up so fast.
Made a note in my reservation that it was my husbands birthday and asked that a candle be placed in our dessert. No candle was provided and when I said something to the waitress, she was so rude about it
