I was so looking forward to this experience perhaps my expectations were a bit high!
There seemed to be a bit of a disconnect in the service. Servers, hostess and manager were polite but were in robotic mode . I could tell they were just going through the motions.
I ordered the octopus as an app my fiance a mushroom pasta dish. My lobster was so spicy that it made my mouth numb. I am no stranger to spice but this was mind numbing, can't feel my face two hours later numb. I just could not understand why Octopus would be cooked this way. A manager approached me as she saw the look on my face and app barely touched. I told her the dish was way to spicy her response wonderful, great great! She was not even listening to what I said, just going through the motions... The waiter came asked the same I responded the same and his response yes the lemon pepper is very hot !? Yet again someone just going through the motions.
For a main my fiance ordered the Lamb Shank and I the Bolognese pasta.
His Lamb shank was covered in some type of Asian BBQ glaze, a very bizarre way to cook Lamb.
Needless to say the meal underwhelmed us as did the service
. To summarize great decor & ambience. Disconnected service. The pastas were good. Would I return NO
Outstanding in every way. Delicious food, warm and welcoming service, great atmosphere.
Amazing staff and service. Mushroom salad was to die for. Great for celebrating events, will definitely be back!!
The food is surprisingly mediocre - similar dishes and quality to what I used to make in college. Nothing is high-quality, it's all just fine.
We were prompt
1 Year anniversary of becoming engaged
It is the best restaurant that serves pasta and creative Italian dishes. This time we order roasted mushrooms as a side order, and chef special pasta with hangersteak for our main courses. Hangersteak is good as usual. Both medium rare and rare are good options. Chef special pasta today serves mainly with arugula and some other vege. It is quite surpise to have such harmonize on those ingredient. The taste of this dish is way beyond than what it looks like.
Nice place with great food. Service was good. Was too noisy as the music was loud and people were talking loudly. Tables are close to each other.
We had heard great things about L'Artusi and we were not disappointed. Highly recommended.
everything about this restaurant is amazing, from drinks to ambiance to food to service.
We loved our time here and can’t thank our friend enough for the recommendation. We booked last minute so our table was only available at 11:30pm but we never felt rushed and the food was so worth the wait to eat that late. We will be back on our next trip to NYC and make sure to recommend to all our friends now too. Thank you L’Artusi.
Food was generally wonderful. Garganelli with mushroom exquisite as always. Tortelloni with clams on daily special was awful. Pasta dry and undercooked, and just didn’t come together with the clam sauce which while tasty, didn’t penetrate pasta.
Service and food is exceptional. A must try.
I'm from SF, and this is my favorite NYC dinner spot. Beautiful interior, romantic yet good energy. Superior service. I knocked my cocktail to the floor and they insisted on replacing it. We always get the carpacio...melts in your mouth. Love the pastas with ragu. Had gnocchi with rabbit this time. So tender and flavorful. Great value too. One app and one entree pasta totaled $40. If I remember correctly, every, thing was under $30. Amazing for the quality and experience.
Very awkward experience. When we arrived our table had just been cleaned and was wet. After we politely told our waiter he replied that it would evaporate in a couple of minutes leaving the table at it was. It must have been the confusion showed in our face that he then came back and tried to dry it. After this event the experience just went south unfortunately. They must have noticed our discomfort since they sent a complimentary entree to the table. Sad because the food was really good but it just messed up the ocassion.
Food was excellent but the tables are much too close together
Moved to the top of my list in NYC. Great menu and wine list. Has it all
AmaZing night with great food
Love this place! Consistently good !!!!
Amazing food. Worth every penny. Tagliatelle is unreal.
The only thing better than the food was the service.
the food is consistently to die for - you get the same quality every visit. the ambiance is lovely and you can have a conversation with friends and not feel like you’re screaming in spite of the business of the restaurant. unfortunately, the service was not up to par this past visit. i made reservations a month in advance and was excited to take my brother and his wife to my favorite restaurant in the city, but when the server came across as annoyed and condescending during our entire meal, i was actually embarrassed at one point. the kitchen was out of multiple items on the menu and, instead of apologizing, our sever couldn’t have cared less. while i know we all have off-days and it could have been just that, i will be reluctant to make l’artusi my first choice in the future.
claustrophobic, very noisy, tables close together (not unusual in NYC) defined this experience Sunday night. At first we were put next to restroom when I objected the hand dryer was too loud we moved 2 tables down. My biggest complaint - food was 20 minutes in between courses. The waiter was apologetic and we were given a complimentary desert but just TOO LONG. Pasta dishes were good and olive oil cake lived up to its reputation. Waiter steered us to a well price delicious wine, less $ than our orginial choice. Overall not a great dining experience
Great food and service
Ate upstairs this time which was a tad less noisy than downstairs. Love the spring additions to the menu. Server Lena was excellent.
Family in town.
Amazing. Best service and outstanding food. Order the ricotta with buttermilk biscuits and the garhanelli. Also the specials are always great!
Birthday dinner. Service was a bit slow but the food was great. Crispy potatoes were very underrated - might be th best thing on the menu!
A very busy and lively atmosphere. Well worth getting a difficult reservation and making the trip. Delicious, thoughtful, well-crafted food.
We shared an amazing Roquefort cheese and hazelunt salad over butter lettuce. Our entries were delicious (Branzino, Orechette pasta). And the chocolatey desserts were rich and tasty.
Service was also exceptional. Our waiter was very patient, friendly and helpful.
Only criticisms were the tables are pretty close - not much intimate privacy so you make friends with your fellow foodies, and it is generally on the noisy side.
Good, not great. Kitchen was so noisy I could not hear the waitress. Food was meh. I had the pork chop, 40% of it was fat and it really had no flavor. Daughter ordered swordfish which we had to send back as it was more sushi than cooked. Wine list was over priced. Salads were plain and otherwise not noteworthy. Ordered two deserts received one, but they didn't charge us. This is the second time we've eaten there, the first time was for brunch. There are so many good places to eat in the west village, and honestly I don't get the hype, we won't be coming back.
Food was excellent in all that was offered on the menu & specials. However, we felt rushed by the staff/servers. Multiple servers for our table were not coordinated or did not communicate with each other. Cocktail drinks not correct. Otherwise they appeared somewhat earnest.
Consistently delicious. Love the additions for spring.
Fantastic restaurant! Creative menu and great service!
great food and service the pork chop was outstanding
Everything was great! Everyone was pleasant. I will definitely go back again.
The food was fantastic. Staff were sensational. It was our anniversary and we’d travelled from Australia and never had better service. Awesome
innovative fresh and traditional all in one
Will for sure return
One of NYC’s best restaurants
We were placed at chefs table as a pleasant surprise. Great experience overall. Food was good, but the wine was a bit mediocre. The olive oil cake lives up to the “hype”. Superb! Will definitely come back for our next visit
Great spot in the Village to eat fantastic food. Impeccable service. Inventive, non-flashy takes on pasta dishes. Always enjoyable. Excellent wine lists with offerings for every budget. Highly recommended.
