Larkin's on the River
Larkin’s on the River at the Peace Center is situated in the heart of downtown Greenville, along the banks of the Reedy River, in the old Gower Coach Factory. This is the only building remaining of the original eleven dating back to Civil War. With beautiful preserved exposed brick walls and open ceilings, the history of the building serves as the perfect backdrop to the modern and hip atmosphere Larkin’s on the River offers.

Enjoyable as always. Brian was our server and was outstanding! The food and table were perfect for an evening with friends. Brian made certain we were on time for our show at the Peace Center without ever feeling rushed. Well done!
Our server was a bit daft. He did not know the Scotch selections and when I told him I was only interested in the single malts, be proceeded to tell me the blends available. Maybe a nit - and maybe this is not something they should know, but when you spend $25 a glass -- you expect a little education.
Went to Larkins On The River for our trip to South Carolina to visit family. It was our first time here and made reservations over a week in advance. When arriving for our reservation we were told we were sitting outside mean while there were ample amounts of tables open in doors. I explained to manager if we had the choice when we made the reservation to sit in doors we would have but there was no option for indoors/outdoors. They were not accommodating to our family. The manager came up to us and told us he would take care of us since they “couldnt” sit us inside and they did nothing for us. The outdoor area was not a nice experience and if you enjoy going out to dinner with good food and a nice ambience I do not suggest you go here to sit outside.
The service and food was not the same this time as when we have been before.
My birthday celebration, party of six. The service was very good. The patio dining room was warm in the middle and cold on the perimeter; my feet were cold. The salmon Wellington has too much bread and too little meat. The side dishes get cold quickly in the small tin frying pans. The crab, calamari and oyster appetizers were excellent. The shrimp/grits, pork chop and sea bass entrees were very delicious. The wine was good. Thanks for the birthday dessert!
The salmon & avocado Benedict was disappointing. The salmon was essentially a small amount ground up and mixed with an equally small amount of avacado. My wife’s omelette was dry and did not seem to have been freshly cooked.
No waiting , food good, excellent server. Lunch/ brunch. Portions small
Larkin’s is an excellent experience with a wonderful food, service, and atmosphere. And you can actually TALK to your table mates. The noise level is relatively low. Highly recommend.
Server was really great- food arrived amazingly quickly. Beautiful tables and ambiance. Nice menus selection
Always enjoy Larkin’s. Everything was on point.
The server was Ok - she could have been more informative. This was not my first time at larkins , but it has been a while. She didn't go over the menu . The steak that my fiancé wanted she stated “they ran out” gave him the option of ribeye or porterhouse. In my option she should have took the time to remind us of the size of that steak due to she had already removed our menus. I ordered the Lamb chops so I would think that common sense would tell her to go over the size because it was HUGE enough for 2 people which was a waste. I specified in my reservations that it was my fiancé birthday, his birthday wasn’t even acknowledged. He had never been to Larkins this was his first experience and it wasn’t impressive at all. If you guys want to be in the top notch category for dining I would recommend stepping your servers up to be a more informative.
Excellent food and service. A little pricey, but oh so good!
Lunch prior to performance at the Peace Center.
Service was great. Atmosphere was relaxing. Food was very good. Great choice before matinee at the Peace Center
Very good restaurant right across from the Peace Center. Definitely will go again
Delicious as always
This was our first visit to Larkins on the River. Staff and service were excellent. Ambiance in the restaurant was great. I ordered She Crab Soup and a House Salad. Soup was lukewarm at best…House Salad greens were warm and limp. Excellent ingredients and presentation…the quality was not as expected. My husband ordered the Larkins Salad…again, warm, limp greens…very disappointed. In addition, there were no towels in the Mens Bathroom. Would question a return visit.
a little hard to find.
map takes us to street address
Main entrance a little bit different
Excellent server named Ashley! Thank you!
Our group was thoroughly impressed with the food and service. Our server Guillermo provided attentive service while keeping the vibe relaxed. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced.
The worst dining experience by far during our weekend trip to Greenville. The butternut squash bisque lacked any flavor whatsoever. The mashed potatoes were dry and cakey and the steak was dry. It took fifteen minutes to be seated (and we were right on time) for our 8:00 reservation and everything went down hill from there. I would never try this restaurant again.
Lovely ambiance, great service and food!
Very nice dinner! We had a wonderful waitress as well. We told her it was my birthday week and we were out celebrating and we received a free dessert! It was a wonderful experience and a beautiful location in Greenville.
Fantastic waitress - just a little slow getting the food out from the kitchen. However, it was definitely worth the wait! Excellent across the board.
Food was decent but overpriced.
Steaks were excellent although a bit under seasoned. Waitress seemed inexperienced but was acceptable. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant and was quiet.
Wife and I had Guillermo as our server and he was on point, with what to expect and recommendations. My wife had the 7oz filet and I had the Sea Bass and we split garlic rosemary mashed potatoes. Wine was paired perfectly as well.
Couldn’t have been more pleased with our dining experience. In my words to Guillermo to tell the head chef... it was “off the chain good!”
We came into dinner .. (a interracial couple) we sat down … our waiter was definitely nervous like she’s never served a black woman and white man before she barely spoke and was always rushing off as she spoke … so then this party of eight men come in … tell me why a party of eight white men got their food before a party of two … ordered lobster and it was not cooked at all… sent it back and they sent back the same food , Brussels sprouts was cold … great moscato ! … but definitely worst restaurant experience in Greenville
Took my wife here for our anniversary. This was truly an amazing experience. They gave us an complementary drink and dessert. The total experience was worth every penny spent.
I order the chopped salad with chicken. It was average, nothing special. My wife ordered a plain cheese burger but it was delivered to our table with everything on it. I had to track down the waitress to get her to rectify the problem. The waitress stated “The people in the kitchen don’t listen to me,” They did bring my wife a new plate with the correct burger but extremely poor service. I would not recommend this restaurant any longer. It’s Applebee’s service and food at ridiculously high prices.
We had a lovely table on the porch. Waterfalls , river, & beautiful scenery. Food was great. Loved the She Crab soup!
Great food and service by Brian!!
This is a fantastic place to impress your friends or business associates. The steaks are very good. We ordered the asparagus and I'm not sure how they cooked it, blanched I assume, but it could have been cooked maybe a minute more to our liking. It didn't have much flavoring, though that may be on purpose.
Presentation of the filet mignon needs to improve. It was served on a large white plate with nothing else. It looked like they finished cooking it, found a plate and through it on it and brought it out. Quality was good but deserved better presentation at these prices
Food and service were excellent. Our wait person was very professional and helped by making several very good food recommendations. The service time was also very good. The meal quality was above our expectations.
The atmosphere is great! A beautiful view! The food was so-so. The she crab soup and deviled egg were so good but the steak was average. When you’re paying $50 for a steak, you expect it to be out of this world and to be honest, I think I could have gotten a better steak at long horn. If I go again I think I’ll stick with seafood. Also, you don’t get any sides with the steaks, you have to order any $10 side just for potatoes.
We’re new to town and it was our 11th wedding anniversary. We heard about Larkins at the Fall for Greenville festival. Made reservations and my wife was excited with my choice. Parking was a bit iffy, because we had never been to the actual restaurant. We parked in a parking garage and the walk was roughly 3mins. We arrived and we’re promptly seated and tended to by our server for drinks. After examining the menu, we went with the Calamari, chopped salad, and the famous She-Crab soup. I CANNOT express to you how delicious the soup was!!! It was absolute perfection. The salad was completely fresh and the calamari was delicious, yet a bit small in portion. For our main course- I ordered the 16oz Ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My wife ordered the 7oz filet mignon and the brussel sprouts hash. Everything tasted fantastic. Great portion sizes and the leftovers were boxed up by our server. Our server was attentive and helpful throughout our experience. He even brought a delicious vanilla creme brûlée to our table to celebrate our anniversary. It was amazing and very much appreciated. The restaurant was a bit loud at times, but most times the surroundings were perfect. I will without a doubt be coming back and would absolutely recommend Larkins to my closest friends and family!!
Food and service excellent! She crab soup, sea bass, pork chop, shrimp and grits hard to choose a favorite! Hayden was an excellent server. Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We will be back!
This was the second time my wife and I celebrated our anniversary at this restaurant. It was our 28th anniversary and I did notify the person taking my reservation of that. Once we were seated our server was somewhat inattentive but not worthy of a complaint on it's own. We placed our order and when it came out my baked potato was not cooked completely and was cold in the center. The potato was sent back and we proceeded to eat the rest of our meal. I was half wat thru my steak when the second baked potato came out and by then had gotten to the center of my steak which turned out to also be under cooked. At this point I decided not to bring up the issue with the steak. As it turned the second potato was still not completely cooked so we took the balance of the steak home for our dog. Summing it up, I have eaten much better steaks for $50-$75 then what we paid over $200 for. Greenville has numerous premier steak houses and I will make it a point to go to a competitor on my next special occasion.
