Larkin's on the River
Larkin’s on the River at the Peace Center is situated in the heart of downtown Greenville, along the banks of the Reedy River, in the old Gower Coach Factory. This is the only building remaining of the original eleven dating back to Civil War. With beautiful preserved exposed brick walls and open ceilings, the history of the building serves as the perfect backdrop to the modern and hip atmosphere Larkin’s on the River offers.
Enjoyed a delicious brunch before the matinee at the Peace Center for the Performing Arts next door. Service was efficient and our server was knowledgable about the dishes being served. Always a good choice, either for lunch or dinner.
Great Brunch before the show. Food and service was good.
Great food and great service
The restaurant is adjacent to the Peace Center, making it perfect for a pre-theater meal.
Continually offers outstanding service, food, drinks and convenience for their customers! A restaurant with a selection of fine wines, beers & spirits that is second to none in the Greenville area! Highly recommended!
I didn’t love the chicken but everything else was good
No real complaints. Food was excellent. Had to wait 20 mins beyond our reservation time but that wasn't a problem. Had a great table for my date night with my wife.
Great experience! The host was a little confused when our intended table was not open. They were very apologetic and had a table ready shortly after. We had great service and the food was amazing. Great date night experience with my husband.
Slow kitchen service
Management was very responsive
I had the $40 food week special Mahi Mahi and it was ok. My wife had the shrimp and grits and it was also ok. The crab bisque was served without sherry. Our total bill with tip was $120, and I don’t believe our meals were worth the money. There are many downtown Greenville restaurants that offer better meals for this cost.
We had a delightful meal before our show at the nearby Peace Center. Thus was our first experience at Larkin’s but won’t be our last. Food was delicious and the service was top notch !
Food was great; waiter was friendly, professional ans made sure we were out in time for show at the Peace Center
Excellent as always. Waiter/Som Joey a great asset and superb in staging a dining experience. Thanks,
Super good great service. Food was excellent.
Fabulous staff, amazing food! I will be back! My sister and I chose Larkin’s because of the menu and we were not disappointed .
We knew that our dining experience would be marvelous when the bread arrived. It was warm, crusty, and tasty, perhaps the best bread basket we’ve had. Then came the rich she crab soup, and a very good French onion soup. I tried shrimp and grits, this being South Carolina, but was unprepared for how flavorful and textural it was. My wife had the salmon, quite good, but she regretted not having ordered my dish after I, albeit reluctantly, shared a bite. The service was attentive and friendly. Even more solicitous was the manager, Bruce. After mediocre meals at a nearby chophouse and an Italian spot, we had despaired of finding a really excellent restaurant in Greenville. But this is the place!
Service was fine and food was ok. Their dinners are better. Lunch items were just ok.
Outstanding service, luxurious atmosphere, and delicious meals. This is definitely a five star restaurant at its finest. You will not be disappointed.
Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!
Larkin’s has always been a favorite and this visit was no exception to our expectations. Highly recommended
Awesome..easily the best restaurant in downtown Greenville.
I took my wife out to Larkin's to celebrate a special occasion.
Overall the food was good but not better than an average restaurant.
The prices make you assume you go to an upscale restaurant but beside the prices there's nothing upscale about it. We went on a Friday evening and there was no musical night until nearly the end of the night. There's was no cozy atmosphere or any ambiance. The food was OK but not great. For upscale restaurants you expect a nice presentation of the food but none of that either. The soup came in a simple bowl as in any regular diner. The main course was good but again no nice presentation. I had a NY Strip steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was a fairly small rectangular plate with a scoop of mashed potatoes and a 16oz steak. This pretty much filled the entire plate. The asparagus were dropped on top/kinda in between the potatoes and the steak. My wife plate came in a similar presentation for her salmon and risotto (which was too dry). The desert was good and the tres leches cake was enormous. The coffee was fantastic.
Overall it wasn't bad but they should improve a whole lot if they want to compete with real upscale restaurants like Ruth Chris or Ocean Prime. As said good but not worth the high price.
Our Server was outstanding but the food coming out of the kitchen was either not warm or terribly undercooked.
Moved to the area 4 years ago and go here 3-4 times a year with wife or a group. The service is always excellent as is the food. It's a bit pricey but the overall experience / food makes it a good value. Typically sit indoors but the outdoor area is also outstanding with a good view.
We celebrated our 20 year anniversary at Larkin’s and were treated with great respect. The ambiance was perfect, the food was cooked and seasoned perfectly, the complimentary Happy Anniversary dessert was delicious (and so pretty!) and the staff could not have been better servers. We will definitely return!
New Years Eve Dinner. Wonderful meal and amazing service.
Great food, amazing service from everyone we encountered and an overall nice night. Will definitely go back.
Busy NYE!!! However, the service was still wonderful and attentive. The food was still excellent!! We were very happy that Larkin’s didn’t disappoint us!!! Thank you!
We ate here for our 17th wedding anniversary which is on New Years Eve’s. We always have trouble finding a good place to eat due to the crowds. This was perfect. It was quiet and romantic and just felt special for our anniversary. The staff heard we were celebrating our anniversary, so they even surprised us with free dessert and champagne at the end of our meal. We will definitely be returning.
Every year we make sure we come back to one the best restaurants in S.C.
Family dinner that was fantastic. Our server knew her stuff and made great recommendations as well as gave us a little history of the building and surroundings. The steaks were cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. The side dishes were big enough for 2-3 people to share. Don’t skip dessert. We had the trece leche cake and it was delicious. Not too heavy of a dessert and was big enough that we shared it between 6 of us. Wine list was extensive and many different price point offerings. Not too loud and we could have a good conversation. Highly recommend.
Excellent food and service. She crab soup is worth the visit alone. Good cocktail selection as well.
Great night out! Joey was our server! Enjoyed the evening! Food and service were excellent.
Great dining experience, great food, great cocktails, great service, nice ambiance- an overall excellent fine dining experience in Greenville, SC.
Not a good experience from the moment we walked in . Unfriendly hostess, inflexible regarding seating , poor service , which took much too long and ultimately, poor food quality . Undercooked meat, salads with too much dressing , just a bad experience. Been going here for years , Not sure we will return.
We were a party of 6 celebrating a birthday. Our waiter, Michael, was very professional, personable, and attentive. One of our party ordered a pork chop entree, which arrived cold, but this one mishap was quickly and graciously handled. We would definitely return to Larkin's. We had a wonderful meal and a memorable time. Thank you!
Normally Larkin’s is at the top of our list. This night it wasn’t. While the food was still good, they ran out of croutons, Negronis, and other choices at a fairly early time. We arrived at 7:30. Service was extremely slow and terrible throughout the evening.
We've been to Larkin's numerous times and it has always been good. Unfortunately, this time my steak was under cooked and tough and the vegetables were cold. My husband's rack of lamb was good and our Caesar salad was very good. I still like the restaurant, but will never order steak again.
Left wanting....... Known for a great steak and this being my first visit I ordered an aged 7 oz. filet med. rare. Cooked pretty well but lacked flavor. Better at Texas Roadhouse in flavor and value
Table side Caesar Salad is wonderful. Steaks we tasty and cooked to the correct temperature. We had a great table with a view of the entire restaurant
