Larkin's on the River
Larkin’s on the River at the Peace Center is situated in the heart of downtown Greenville, along the banks of the Reedy River, in the old Gower Coach Factory. This is the only building remaining of the original eleven dating back to Civil War. With beautiful preserved exposed brick walls and open ceilings, the history of the building serves as the perfect backdrop to the modern and hip atmosphere Larkin’s on the River offers.

Met my brother for lunch at Larkin’s on the River. Food and service were all excellent. Larkin’s will definitely be on my short list of favorites every time I come to Greenville. Thanks.
Outstanding food and atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Went during restaurant week, steaks were flavorless and very grisly. Grouper was way over salted and one of our desserts was missing an ingredient.
Food was great as expected and the service by our server Craft was outstanding!
This is a very nice restaurant with delicious food. But overall it's another restaurant that thinks it can charge a ridiculous amount just because it serves steak and has dark furniture. The tables are too close together and for a very similar comparison in Greenville, save your money and go to Longhorn instead!
Always a great time/food at Larkin's. One of our very favorite restaurants in Greenville. Michael our waiter was outstanding, great personality and very attentive. Thanks
After having Larkins recommended to me, I hosted a group of 10 work colleagues for dinner. Despite having a reservation and calling ahead to inform of our arrival time, we had to wait a little bit for our table upon arrival.
The food was ok, but not great. My bone in filet, one of the highest priced steaks on the menu, was completely over-cooked. Ordered medium rare, it came out closer to well done. I am someone who almost never sends food back but this required attention. That said, the waiter and the manager were on top of it and quickly replaced the steak. They were apologetic and handled it very well.
The overall service was also good, not great. It was little bit slow but that's often to be expected with a large group.
It's a beautiful location and there was a cool concert taking place just outside the back on the riverfront. Very nice.
I will consider Larkins again, but with all the competition in town, the experience will need to be better next time in order to get on my regular rotation of dining establishments.
We were seated at 7:30 had appetizers and dinner was served at 10:15. We were a party of four, 2 of us had steaks both were cooked incorrectly and 2 had salads. The manager tried very hard to explain what happened and comp'd our wine and dessert.
Very disappointed in the evening!!
I have been to Larkins several times over the years. It is always wonderful but this last time I think it was the best ever!!!
Thank you !
Hannah, our server, was a delight. Very knowledgeable regarding the menu and making recommendations. The steaks were fabulous and prepared exactly as we requested.
And they had cocktail onions - almost impossible to find in The South.
Might I suggest, you consider a cheese plate as a starter or dessert choice.
Excellent service and outstanding menu selection! Definitely will be back!
Larkin’s provided the perfect dinner for our anniversary and birthday dinner. Service was perfect, we did feel rushed. We received a beautiful hand written congratulatory card, 2 glasses of champagne with an amazing platter of desserts!! Honestly we have never had a better experience ever in Greenville!! Thank you Larkin’s!!
"My wife and I went here for our 11yr anniversary...the service was great, outdoor seating was even better...menu had a nice variety for the palate. I had an excellent filet milgnon, and the rockefeller oysters are an aphrodisiac they say ;-)...enjoyed our dinner....Thank you"
The food was excellent as usual. But, for the first time in many visits, the service was slow. We did not get the normally great attention due to a party of 15 celebrating across from us.
Wonderful service, our server went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The food was great. Loved every bite! Every dish we had we thoroughly enjoyed. The steak is a must!
I have been to Larkins many times for dinner and it has never disappointed. However, our lunch experience was horrible...if I could give it a zero, I would. Our reservation was for noon and there were only, at the most, ten other patrons there. It took FOREVER for our waitress (yes, I know they are called servers, but this was a waitress type of experience) to even take our order...and when she did, it was as if she couldn’t care less. We ordered an appetizer (that did not have to be cooked) and it finally came 20 minutes later with “I’m sorry guys, but it was hard for me to get up this morning and I totally forgot about bringing this out.” Three minutes later our meal arrived. We had to ask for water and tea refills. I was very disappointed in the lunch menu and totally disappointed with the service. I hate that it will be hard for me to visit again.
Best dinner since we moved to South. Carolina. Tuna was cooked perfectly. Steak was outstanding. Sit outside to enjoy the view of the river. Thanks David
The food was phenomenal. I had the NY Strip and my wife had Grouper. It was restaurant week, so value was great for us.
Glad we went there again!
The last time was 6 years ago when the area along the river was still being renovated. Now, it is all finished and beautiful! It is a beautiful old building that has been restored.
The food is delicious and the server (McKenzie) was very professional and knowledgeable.
We love the food and service is always great. Convenient to all events downtown.
The food as always was excellent. However, on this visit the service was not as good as usual.
Serenity was an outstanding server—very attentive, accommodating and fun.
In a city where the food scene is rapidly growing, I don’t feel like Larkins is keeping up. Food is always good, but the service and attention to their guests has stayed the same which makes it easy to choose other restaurants over it. We went to sit on their patio to listen to a concert and their location was great for that.
Our experience was phenomenal; the food was excellent (i would highly recommend the she crab soup, the filet mignon, and anything with scallops) and the service could not have been better. Prices were certainly not for everyday dining but were excellent for a special occasion; and the food definitely was worth the price. A word of advice: the side dishes are sized for sharing)
It is hard to beat their 3-course option. Plus, it is hard to beat the truffle fries to start.
Shannon took great care of us.
Great meal - weekend romantic getaway. Very good service!
Service by Maureen was superb. She is a gem. The food was amazing, from salad to dessert...everything done with excellence. The flavors, presentation, all done very well. The cocktails are amazing as well. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Our waitress - Neena was excellent! She made the dinner memorable!!
Celebrated a birthday with two couples. Loved the deviled egg/crabmeat appetizer, amber jack and vegetarian plates. Hannah provided excellent service. Good of Larkins to include a complementary dessert.
Our server was wonderful. We both are gluten free due to health issues and she knew everything on the menu that we could eat. The food and drinks were good.
Caesar salad prepared tableside with explanation of every step was magnificent
A delightful place. Attentive staff. Good food. The she-crab soup was the best I have ever had.
Disappointing. Ceasar salad had way too much dressing making crotons mushy. Potato au gratin was bad and delivered to table very late. I can't recommend the sea bass. Steaks were okay.
Had not been in some time. Very impressed with the quality of the food. Our server was very attentive. The atmosphere is fine dining. Not on the lower end of pricing which is a good thing. T shirts and flip flops have no place here.
Our waiter, Michael was attentive and funny. Food was perfectly done and nice and hot. The shrimp and grits were some of the best I’ve ever had!
Exceptional in every way! Recommend the seafood food tower - delicious and fun! Save room for dessert, as the freshly made ice cream will not disappoint.
Our server was great, however we had cold food on my Wife’s plate. We hesitated to bring it up, but at $40 per entree... the food better be hot (warm at least). Here rice was ice cold.
The manager came out to speak with us and the first thing he told us was an excuse... that he had to go on a liquor run so he was away. Then he said he wanted to come out because he heard a table was mad. We were far from mad, we just brought our concern when our server asked how things were. The food also took a very long time to come out.
The manager offered to get us more drinks, to which we said we weren’t interested in. We asked if he could take something off the bill and he hesitated and stalled, but then he said he would look at it... but he never did and nothing came off the bill.
Great place , food a little over priced, but now add in poor management and poor customer service... and we will go elsewhere from now on. Too many great places in Greenville to go somewhere that doesn’t treat you well when its their fault the food was cold.
Always enjoy our meal here! Can’t wait to go back! Love the patio area!
Great nights with friends visiting Greenville for the first time. Larkins outside dining area is so beautiful with the River, the Wyche Pavilion, Genevieve's rock wall and the TD Stage all within view. While this is a steak house, they have great seafood and other non-steak options. Their portion size is large and filling. Not sure I have a favorite yet, but I'll keep going back to see if I can find one.
