Larkin's on the River
Larkin’s on the River at the Peace Center is situated in the heart of downtown Greenville, along the banks of the Reedy River, in the old Gower Coach Factory. This is the only building remaining of the original eleven dating back to Civil War. With beautiful preserved exposed brick walls and open ceilings, the history of the building serves as the perfect backdrop to the modern and hip atmosphere Larkin’s on the River offers.

Larkins Famous She Crab Soup
This place is very overrated. The food tasted bad, the service was sub-par, and wasn’t worth it at all.
Larkins has become one of our favorites in town!!!!!
Location, food and service always Fabulous!!!!!
Great food and atmosphere. great for any occasion
Well, we both ordered 2 Ny prime steaks and one looked pre-cooked and dry.
The other steak looked fresh off the grill and mine looked like it was precooked or baked previously to us even ordering. So I’m suspicious of them cooking a 50$ (Prime) steak early in the day???? Why would any
Chef allow this?
The front of the House Manager Young boy!
Has No experience in the restaurant arena and clearly insulted my intelligence by saying I hope this steak is to your liking as if I didn’t know what I was talking about!!!
Go to Hall’s!
Very nice lunch-everything was perfect! Can’t wait to go back on our next visit!!
Best service and best overall ! Food was outstanding ! Thank you
The waiter was clear to us that in one hour our table was going to be needed by another reservation... the oysters from New Jersey were not very good. The special, which was the trout, was swimming in butter and the Brussels sprouts were somewhat burnt. My husband said the bouillabaise was ok. Nothing spectacular. We were looking forward to this dinner and were disappointed and quite frankly the comment that we had "limited" time, did not start the evening off very well.
Larkins has an amazing atmosphere. The food was amazing an grear location.
What a beautiful place. Great experience and delicious food. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. Great service. Will be back for sure.
This was our third visit to Larkins. Our daughter attends college 30 minutes south of here and we drive from Atlanta to Greenville to take her out for her birthday--3 of the last 4 years we've had dinner here. Of the 3 visits, this was by far the most disappointing and not what we've come to expect from Larkins.
Our server Brian was wonderful, our outdoor table fabulous on a gorgeous night. But it took 20 minutes for our cocktails to arrive, which was disappointing. The food, which in past years was always SO good, was sub-par. The calamari was soggy, the steaks (which are very expensive) were underseasoned and bland, with no sear on them, and they were room temperature by the time we got them. The creamed spinach, which we were dreaming about because it was so good on our previous visits, came out cold, with congealed cheese on top, and was also underseasoned. The loaded baked potato wasn't loaded at all--very few toppings. The cappuccino ordered at the end of the meal wasn't cappuccino at all--it was regular coffee with steamed milk and it was lukewarm by the time it got to us.
We're chalking this up to an off night, because our first 2 visits were so phenomenal. We'll return and yes, we'll recommend to friends--one bad night doesn't make a restaurant bad. But we sure hope when we come back that Larkins is back on track and as good a restaurant as we remembered!
Great ambiance with the view of the TD stage and the River. Excellent, unrushed service. Thanks!
Our first date night out since we had our first baby. It was a great evening and we had a lot of fun laughing and enjoying a delicious steak and some drinks that she hadn’t been able to enjoy for a while! The Black Betty should have a “Woah” in front of it on the menu!
The steak was awful. After dining at Halls chophouse across the river, i was hoping for an equally or at least similarly excellent steak. Instead i got a bland steak that didn't look like it had seen a grill at all (no searing) that wasn't as good as even a longhorn steak much less Hall's. Another guest with me was equally disappointed in her steak, so it wasn't a one off mistake. Hers was also terribly undercooked (a medium-medium well steak came out more rare than medium rare). The bearnaise tasted like icing, and the mashed potatoes were also a disappointment. On the bright side, the Mac and cheese and salad were excellent, but I'm afraid we will not ever be returning
Our table of 3 ordered lamb and two 7oz tenderloins. We specified medium rare on the steaks. What we got was very overcooked, very dry and definitely more like well done. The person that ordered lamb thought it was well cooked.
Although we made reservations well in advanced, we were seated right by the bar and so had all the traffic from waiters picking up drink orders and the rattle of ice.
The waiter was good and attentive. Everything was clean and orderly.
For a total bill of almost $300 I was very disappointed.
We came here based on previous experience but probably wont go back.
I think the AC might have been on the fritz when we visited as the dining area was uncomfortablly warm. I gave 5 stars because everything else was fantastic. Our server was a friendly and attentive young lady. The food was perfect. I had sea bass and my wife the steak. We will definitely be back. Hopefully the AC will be working. Thank you for an enjoyable meal.
Was really disappointed. Been there before with great results. Crammed all costs in one corner of the dining room, which was uncool and unnecessary. Opened a door which created traffic and flies. Way overpriced for the experience.
Went for brunch. Eggs were overcooked in 2 of the 3 dishes. Service was very friendly so didn’t complain.
Awesome service with Ruby ! Food was delicious and outdoor seating was nice.
Delicious food. Attentive and fun waitress. Gorgeous setting
Food was disappointing. The mashed potatoes, especially, were bland and tasteless. Probably won’t return.
I was entertaining family from out of town. While the food was delicious, the dining experience was a disaster. I did a chef’s tasting, 4 courses, and received my appetizer well after everyone else got salads. The entrees (except for one and it wasn’t mine) arrived before my salad so they put it in a to go container and brought it to me. The entrees were cold and not cooked to order. Sides were also room temperature at best. So the one entree that never came out was supposed to have a she-crab soup that had not arrived. She asked for her soup and after waited a solid 20-25 minutes for her entree. Two of our 4 steaks went back. The point being that we certainly didn’t eat our meals together.
So the waiter recognizing our frustration says everyone will get dessert and you (me) will get two since one was included in the meal. After eating, we waited a good bit and the waiter came by and I am working on ALL your desserts. So, we gave up on seeing a dessert menu as it appeared the dessert choices were made for ALL of us. And for the finale, we got 3 creme brûlée’s and 7 spoons. Keep in mind my dessert was part of my meal.
Great location on the river in beautiful downtown Greenville.
Have eaten here many times. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Greenville. On this night, the food was not as good. Not sure why.
Service was great. Concert at the amphitheater made it loud. But that’s my fault for not knowing there’d be someone performing.
1st time eating at Larkin’s and it lived up to the hype. Service was great and food was outstanding. Complimentary champagne and dessert for our bday celebration and as a bonus, we were able to
Get outside seating and there was a show at TD stage. They also allow dogs on the patio now. Will definitely be back!
Wonderful dinner celebrating our anniversary. Our server went out of her way to make the evening extra special !
My enjoyed her meal and service
Celebrated my birthday on a quiet Sunday evening at Larkins. The service was very good, the food was fantastic, and I especially appreciated the birthday dessert. Great restaurant! My only wish is that the temperature in the restaurant was cooler. Other than that, we had a terrific time!
Our waiter was very good however had many tables to wait. Food was very good - salmon was tasty and dessert was excellent. The AC was apparently not working and the restaurant was very warm to uncomfortable. Had the AC been working the experience would have been a "4". But give the slow service and hot restaurant it's a 2.5 to 3. Not the fault of the waiter who was very good.
Food, service, and ambience of outdoor dining was impressive. Portions are plenty, even for two.
Good outside seating
Food was amazing
This was our first time at Larkins. It's what you would expect from a fine dining restaurant in terms of food, drink selection and service. It was loud, as we were seated extremely close to a large dinner party. It was also very hot in the restaurant, and usually I'm always on the cooler side (I even brought a jacket with me, just in case). The warmness of the restaurant did make it a bit uncomfortable to enjoy the meal.
The meal and service were great but it was very warm in the restaurant. I had to request a menu to fan myself.
I feel this restaurant is expensive just to be expensive. Pricing is comparable to Halls and Ruth Chris. But quality is no where near that. Paying $55 for a ribeye, it should be a good ribeye. My wife commented she had better from Longhorn. Had my doubts when we walked in and hostess was chewing gum with her mouth opened. Would be a sort of go to place if prices were cut in half to match the quality of the food. But for those prices, we will go to one of the competitors that justify the price they charge. If there is justification for a $55 steak only.
Went here with friends before a show at the Peace Center. They did a great job of getting us served and out in time. Food was great, however the brussel sprouts really weren’t that great. Loved the steak
The food was delicious, and for the price that is what I expect. Service was also on par with my expectations, although I could see our server using her smart watch when we were trying to get her attention. Unfortunately, the restaurant temperature was uncomfortably warm. I was actually sweating, and I’m usually the one who hast to bring a sweater into the restaurant. Made it difficult to enjoy the meal and atmosphere as much as we could have.
The food here was absolutely delicious but a bit pricey since every but the bread was alacarte. The service was excellent our waiter was very attentive. My only real complaint would be that the place was to warm. It has to be about 80 degrees in the place. When I asked the server if they could lower the AC a bit he said it's always this warm it's an old building. Pretty lame excuse because it's an AC unit that cools a room down not the building itself. There were other customers there as well constantly wiping their brows down. It got so uncomfortable for me that I ended up waiting outside for my husband while he collected our leftovers and paid the check. We'll definitely go back but not until it gets cooler outside.
Our waiter Brian was most pleasant and helpful throughout.
This was our 3rd visit to Larkin’s. The first 2 experiences were great. This time the food was poor, as was the service.
The staff was amazing and the gave the birthday girl a nice dessert!
This is an overpriced restaurant for the quality of their food, far from being gourmet. The terrace area is nice and the service is standard. Definitely not a place to visit again.
