The only downside to our evening was waiting 30 min after our reservation to be seated

I went to Larkin's on 4/20 to celebrate my upcoming birthday with two of my friends. This was my first time at the restaurant and I was severely disappointed. We had a 7:15 reservation and they were running behind. So there was a 20 minute wait. I do understand that some restaurants get backed up on weekends so I'm definitely forgiving of this. The issues started after we were seated. We were greeted by a waitress (Cassndra) who was extremely sweet and gave us the run down of the menu. She stated it would be two of them taking care of us that evening. Once she explained the menu she took our appetizer order. The appetizer came and we waited probably another 20 mins before our meal order was taken by the 2nd waitress. The meals seemed to take a very long time to come. It was between 30-45 minutes. Again I understand being busy but that's unacceptable. We got our food and presentation was beautifully done but lacked flavor. I had the Chilean sea bass and I wasn't impressed. I had to add salt to give some flavor. My friend ordered the mushroom ravioli and it was kind of dry. Not creamy as described in menu. She asked another waitress who came to introduce himself as our new server if she could get some additional sauce and was told that they couldn't make any. She then asked one of the original waitresses the same and was told the same. However when the manager Ted was asked, he said she could have. My friend mentioned to the first waitress that it was my birthday dinner and I saw other tables receiving a dessert and candle. I unfortunately didn't. I probably didn't because we ended up having 4 different servers and the communication between them were not up to par. We didn't end of leaving until almost 9:30 because of how slow service was. I unfortunately didn't enjoy my birthday dinner and honestly probably won't return.

Our reservation time was not honored. We were told we would have to wait for 4 other reservations to be seated first. We went to the bar, at 6:30 I asked and we were seated on the patio when we reserved the dining room. When I asked, I was told “sorry I guess it’s full”. At that point we walked out.

It was our first visit to the new Larkins (loved the old location on the Reedy). After a 10 minute wait (we were on time for our rezzie), we were seated in the main dining area (window table). After ordering cocktails (hubby excellent Mojito) and a yummy Malbec (very fruit forward), we split the Beet/Strawberry Salad (very tasty) and then we both ordered the 7 oz Filet (med. rare), with sides and sauces Excellent filets. We ended the evening with the oh-so-good Bananas Foster Bread Pudding - a must-have! Thank you, Miguel, for taking such great care of us. And, you do indeed make a great French Press Coffee!

Food was good, but it took an hour for it to arrive after order put in. Had 2 servers assigned to us…Was a bit unusual and there were a couple of communication issues between them and us. One server came over to apologize for my drink order taking so long…I had just finished it. I’ll give them another try.

The new Larkins location is great with a smart modern decor. We had dinner with out of town guests. Got off to a slow start waiting 20 minutes for our drinks. That aside we had sea bass and steaks all of which were good. Staff is still finding its footing with a new menu; several items not available. Table really liked the lobster Mac. Steak arrived without the ordered Au pouiv sauce. Small touches like no plates offered for shared appetizers a bit surprising and unexpected. My guess things will settle down in this new location.

We have always been fans of larkins. Every time we go to Greenville our number one reservation is larkins. That definitely changed from this last visit and it has basically dropped to the bottom. Something has changed recently but not to the good.

We had a reservation for 4 at 7:15 and waited until 7:30 to watch a party of four walk up to the hostess stand with no reservation and get a table. Continued to wait an additional 10 minutes before being seated. Had two different waiters take care of us and going to say that they were nice but we were not attentive to us because of how busy the restaurant was (I guess). The most important thing was the signature steak. One of my friends ordered medium and received medium well and I ordered medium and received almost rare but was not going to send it back because of so much time that had passed to get seated and eat. We were not even offered a dessert. We were there until 10pm! To spend $260 per couple you would think it would have been better. I have been before and had better service but there are other steak houses downtown that are better in my opinion and I will not be back to this one.
