Landry's Seafood House - New Orleans French Quarter
While the wait staff was wonderful, the food was far overpriced. The menu was worded lovely, but the food was mediocre.
Food was amazing and our waiter John was incredible. Will definitely be coming back.
It was great
Excellent service and staff. We went there for my birthday. We ask enjoyed the food.
Terrible! Ordered shortly after we sat down. No food drive red for over 45 minutes. Entrees delivered one hour after ordering after many requests and the salmon came out completely uncooked and on a Caesar salad that was lettuce with water droplets and a few drops of dressing on top.
Sam was amazing! He took care of our every need. Our food was definitely tasty. He helped make this family trip a memorable one!
We visited Landry’s for the first time in July 2019 for a cousins birthday family trip. We were so happy with the service and ecstatic about the food that we asked to see the chef (line cook). The food is absolutely AMAZING! I wanted to go back to New Orleans just to eat at Landry’s and we planned a weekend trip just to go there. So that’s what we did! Came back in February 2020 just to experience the delicious food and share with our family members how great it was. The atmosphere is awesome, the food was hands down a culinary pot of gold!!!
We will visit again in a few months!!
Took 20 min for drinks and it wasn’t even crowded. Bartender to busy talking. Food came out all at different times. Celebrating my wife bday and she was the last one to get her food. It was shrimp and grits. Excuse we had to peel more. Mind you it was Mardi Gras so you would assume they were prepared. Everything came out late. It was not a good experience and I am a Foodie.
Wonderful meal and wonderful service! We would definitely eat there next time we're in town.
Even though it was fairly empty, took a long time to order drinks and get them. Our waiter was missing during large chunks of time.
Landry’s Seafood House was a recommendation from a. Friend and it definitely did not disappoint. We enjoyed the stuffed shrimp and the redfish as recommended by our server, Steven, who was great by the way! The dirty rice was also excellent!
Inedible food. Oyster the size of peas and overcooked. I have no idea why anyone would eat here and certainly wouldn’t go back. Tourist trap.
Excellent service by Stephen providing beautiful cocktails for our Valentine’s Day evening. Catfish was fresh and delicious, crab cakes outstanding and praline topped cheesecake for dessert offered an amazing celebration.
Great food and service! Thank you!
The food was not very good. Bland at best. We did however enjoy the service from our waiter and cocktails.
The worst service I received while in New Orleans and honestly the top of my list of worker restaurant experiences. I’ve had Landry’s on my list for a while to try so coming to NOLA was the perfect opportunity. Table of 8 with seemingly easy orders (2 soups, a chicken salad, 2 lobster tail entrees, and 2 chicken pasta dishes). We didn’t get our entrees for 2.5 hours because our waiter decided that he couldn’t/wouldn’t put our orders in with our appetizers and then tried to argue with us about us not being ready to order yet (although we were). We seen several parties that arrived after us get seated, eat, and leave while we waited. Even worse when we were ready to pay for our food and leave, that process took an additional 30 minutes. It even took 20 minutes for them to prepare our “complimentary desserts.” The slowest service ever for some very mediocre food. I doubt I’ll ever come back to this restaurant.
The worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant on all my 38 years. Not even worth my time writing a review. Truly a ZERO.
Had a great time, the food and the staff was excellent
Fun terrific staff!
There weren't many people there, but the food was still slow coming out. I ordered the scallops and they were small and tough. The rest of my party enjoyed their oysters and crawfish. The waiter was charming, but he had the whole upstairs which slowed things down even more. Unless you get the New Orleans classics, do your seafood somewhere else.
Will start by saying the service was great at this place. The food however was very disappointing. I knew going in this was a chain restaurant so I did set my expectations accordingly but the food just didn't stack k up. the gumbo tasted like something was burnt and the crayfish etouffee' while it had a strong seafood flavor , was lacking in crayfish. there were only a few pieces of crayfish in the dish. I have had better gumbo and etouffee at several places when I have visited the city before.
Waiter was pleasant enough but food delivery was very slow and overall service was poor. Fried food ordered was overcooked.
Redfish etoufee was excellent. Crawfish etoufee wife had was also very good.
It was pretty loud and the raved about crawfish bread was left untouched after the first slice. The steak was supposed to be medium rare and was served rare. All in all, we were unimpressed.
Excellent food and service from our waiter, Ernest!
I've eaten at Landry's before and enjoyed the food. This time however, they were understaffed so they were unable to accommodate the Christmas Day crowd. I booked the reservation there because the number of restaurants open on that day was very limited, but I knew we would enjoy our meals. We were seated quickly, but about 15 minutes later the waiter came and told us they were so far behind that we would not get our meals for 1-1.5 hours! Quite disappointing due to the fact that I'm pretty sure the Christmas Day crowd is pretty consistent each year, so apparently they didn't plan appropriately... Even if members of their staff called in, I would expect them to have a contingency plan. At any rate, we decided to leave and take our chances on another restaurant - as other parties were making decisions to leave, as well. We ended up going to Kingfish a few short blocks away. They were fully booked, but the host got us in after a short 20-min wait and a party of 6 no-show. Even though it wasn't quite what we planned for, the food was phenomenal and we'll probably return there in the future!
We had a reservation for 19:30, arrived ten minutes early. We were told that a lot of other people with reservations were already waiting to be seated, so we took a seat at the bar. Both the hostess and the barkeeper were already clearly annoyed by the kitchen and when we were warned that we would have to wait an hour at least to get served, even though there were empty tables around us, we decided to go somewhere else. Someone please give a hug to the hostess, she tried to be nice but was obviously at her wits end having to deal with the kitchen and saying sorry over and over to guests.
We sat waiting for our food for about two hours. They covered a round of drinks, but unfortunately we didn’t feel as though our time lost was respected.
Two hour wait for bad food. Had reservations but still waited 30 minutes for table. They even said sorry we ran out of bread. Ruined Christmas dinner.
Christmas Day Dinner and Anthony we were seated on time, we waited over 2 hours for our dinner to come out. I think the food was good but it could be that we were extremely hungry at this point. We were not offered any bread or water refills. Extremely disappointed!
We had a confirmed reservation and children with us. Reservation at 6:30 and walked out at 8:00 with still no food. At one point, the waiter told is salads were on the way and those never even came to the table. We spoke to manager and food still didn’t come. Not sure what the restaurant was experiencing but they should not have been seating people. Horrendous.
Reservations at 6:30 and got food at 8:30! Manager gave us free salad.
Waited 2 hours for 2 drinks and a half a starter
I waited 3 hours for cold food in a hot room. They ran out of items and the manager made no attempt to talk to customers, to calm folks down, comp some drinks or appetizers or apologize for the wait. Instead all we got were excuses from servers on Christmas Day. It was a hot mess.
We made an early reservation on Christmas so we could relax and enjoy some food. It didn’t go well from the beginning. The host downstairs and the host upstairs weren’t communicating well and we were told upon checking in “we are really busy.. but will have a table in about 5 minutes” After waiting 10 minutes past our reservation time “I have no idea when we will be able to seat you” 20 minutes past our reservation time “you can go on up but I don’t know how long it will be.. go on up, I sure hope there’s a table” The lack of knowledge and communication was frustrating and unprofessional.
Upstairs we were told we would need to wait another 20 minutes to be seated so we agreed to a high top table and were seated. Our server was frazzled and overwhelmed but trying. She took drink orders and delivered 2 waters for our party of 4. Drinks took forever but we were assured fresh bread was on its way. Appetizer came out quickly but no bread because they had run out. This was the first of many times we would hear about how busy they were all day and how crazy the kitchen was. And yet they continued to seat more and more people. We waited 40 minutes for entrees to come out and the seafood gumbo was a dish of roux with 3 overcooked shrimp. No crab, no flavor.
We asked for a manager, waited 20 minutes for him to come to the table and heard more excuses about how crazy the kitchen was and how busy they were.
They took our reservation and many others. They were seating people and everyone we interacted with admitted they were overwhelmed and underprepared.
This was a disappointment from start to finish especially on a special night and we left with no Christmas spirit.
I was there on Christmas Dy. To say they were busy is an understatement! They staff (from the servers, hostesses to the door staff) were all friendly and polite - even when the patrons were not! Anticipating a busy day I had made a reservation - others were not so wise. They were completely booked but handled disgruntled persons with grace.
As a single person I was given a table which I appreciated as I have been asked @ other establishments to sit @ the bar. Not sure if a reservation made a difference . But it was appreciated.
The food (although it took a while - which I also expected) was quite good. Prices were reasonable.
I have no problem recommending this establishment and will most likely return.
Thank you guys for a wonderful experience for my Christmas dinner!
First thing: Learn how to mix up the diet coke so that it tastes like diet coke not chemicals. Second: The kitchen staff shouldn't be behind already at 5:00. Third: The serving size of the stuffed flounder was small but the taste was good. Fourth: The green beans were excellent. Do better next time. My meal at Landrys in Branson, MO was much better.
Took over an hour to get a second beer and our entree. When it arrived it was missing items. My third beer ordered a half hour earlier showed up as we were leaving. I will not return.
The service was ridiculously slow for not being busy. Oysters were literally the size of a nickel. Outrageous prices for the portion size. I’m positive that all positive reviews must be from tourists. Don’t know what I was thinking coming here for Christmas lunch. I would have gotten better food at better prices at any of the take out places on Claiborne. Embarrassing representation of New Orleans cuisine
We enjoyed our Christmas lunch at Landry’s. Perfect menu and atmosphere to service our nine year old grandson. The crayfish bread is a must try, it was delicious! The staff was super friendly. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
