Opening 29th May 2018, Craufurdland Castle Country Estate’s new state-of-the-art restaurant and leisure space will see heritage meet sustainability in a stunning location on the shore of its own loch. From water source heat pumps for heat, solar panels for electricity, electric car charging points, and even worms for recycling waste – the restaurant aims to leave the smallest footprint possible on the environment.

The restaurant’s Head Chef, Gareth Furey, is passionate about working with local producers to ensure the food is grown or sourced within a few miles of his kitchen. Gareth is no stranger to creating an exciting menu for a new business, having previously worked as Head Chef during the opening of The Jefferson Restaurant in Kilmarnock before moving to become Head Chef in the Buzzworks chain as they expanded. Even the children’s menu has been carefully developed to offer good quality food that kids will love, and parents will be happy to order.

    The restaurant was full which is always a good sign. Recommend booking before going just in case. Food & staff very good though service was a little slow. Looking forward to returning as a wide variety of dishes on the menu to suit all occasions.

    Food is excellent and all locally sourced. Service is slow but they do admit that on their menu! But we did have to continually ask to order more drinks even though it wasn't busy - staff could be more aware of the room and anticipate client needs. Evening menu is very steak orientated, other options are limited with only one vegetarian option for main course which is predictably a mushroom pasta. Lunch menu is much more varied. Setting is beautiful and love all the eco friendly touches e.g. wormery.

    Lairds Table is a beautiful venue and I will definitely return. Staff very friendly and took time to tell us about the venue and surrounding area. Breakfast menu was very good, however, it was a little expensive, so this would put me off coming more often.

    A great place to meet up for a catch up with friends. I had the recommend dish of the day and it was excellent, followed by a delicious pear crumble! Great quality coffee.

    Beautiful surroundings. You can watch ducks and herons on the water. The building is basic but that doesn't matter. There are historical artefacts displayed. The furniture is interesting. The food is also interesting and very good. The service is pleasant and unobtrusive
