La Tienda Tapas Bar
The manager was so attentive and accommodating to all of the tables. The food was served hot and timely. Loved the homemade sangria!
Wonderful evening outside with friends enjoying a pitcher of Sangria and Tapas! Great service and delicious foods.
I loved La Tienda but am sorry to report that Chef Ika and Molly have moved to another country. I decided to try it with a friend, and we left without ordering because the dining room and kitchen were in disarray. They did not have any tea in the house - not hot or cold - and it took about 10 minutes for us to finally get that information. Apparently only one wait person was on duty, so he was understandably unnerved. Hopefully La Tienda will be able to get another chef and manager. It was truly a jewel.
Our visit was not up to the expectations we had set, given the numerous positive recommendations we had received. A Spanish tapas restaurant in this area is a rarity and we were hoping for a great find and experience. Some of the concerns: several items on a somewhat limited menu were not available, decor was just ok, little to no Spanish ambiance or ethnic attire, and sluggish service. The main dining room resembled a lounge setting as tables were small and more suitable for having drinks not meals. Food was nice.
It was okay. Food was all just a little off from a truly excellent tapas restaurant. Example: tuna salad with potato and pea had almost no tuna, and the potatoes were undercooked. Expensive for what it is with curious decisions by management. Example: a $26 meat and cheese plate had nothing really special in the way of cheese, and a tiny piece (1 cm cube) of quince jelly. Cured meats were good. But we were asked if we wanted to order bread with it, which was and additional $2. So no bread or anything with which to eat the meat, cheese and quince jelly. Cute place, service was efficient if not the friendliest.
Great tapas and sangria. Authentic flavors and options. Will recommend highly
Food was good. Limited number of items. Nice waitress
I love La Tienda! The food is excellent and it’s different from anywhere else you can go in the area. The service was amazing, right down to the hostess seating you. Highly recommend!
We made reservations for 830pm on a Sat night, which was available via Open Table. When we arrived we were greeted with the information that they close at 9pm and were encouraged to hastily get a food order in. We did so, then were informed that there is some policy or something that requires "everything to be off the table by 10pm". Our waiter was polite but we were basically rushed from the moment we got there. How un-European is that?! Anyway, they shouldn't take late reservations if they don't want to have late diners!
We went La Tienda for our anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed it. When I originally made the reservation I forgot to mention it was our anniversary, so 4 hours before our dinner reservation I sent a note on Opentable notifying them that it was our anniversary and I asked for a quiet area to seat. It was a great surprise that they were able to accommodate us. The tapas, paella and of course the wine was outstanding. The tapas portions are large, we ate the three that we ordered and had to take half of our seafood paella home. (A dinner portion of paella is more than enough for 4 people) We will surly be back.
Food was tasty, as always, and our servers were knowledgeable and friendly. We always enjoy dining at this Williamsburg location.
Food was excellent ! We went here for an anniversary and the level of customer service was top notch. They made us feel at home like family and gave us a special night of dining and fine Spanish wine ! My wife has a food allergy , Celiac disease and their chef took great detail into making sure everything was GLUTEN FREE. We appreciated the focus on details and food quality was outstanding . We will be back for our next big anniversary ! Susan was our server and she was kind, knowledgeable and excplicit with how food was prepared and arranged ! Much appreciated ! Kept my wife's anxiety at a minimum 😄
Hostess greeted us with “what can I do for you?” Felt very cold. No welcome or greeting. Maybe she was busy? Not the normal standard for Williamsburg. Food Server was nice. Food runner spilt part of our appetizer dish on the floor. Oops. We bought something in the gift shop on the way out. Again the hostess was abrupt. “Bring it here. Put your card in this way.” Kids are more polite at chick Fil A! We were treated to this night by friends as a thank you. We were excited to try a new to us place. Not really our type of food. Too salty and too much saffron. But it was a fun night even without a warm welcome. Our total bill for 3 with a $25 gift was $140.00. Plus tip. We don’t drink. Quiet an extravagant night for us.
This is one of our favorite local restaurants. Food and service is always superb.
It’s been awhile since we visited and decided to give them a try again. The food and options are much improved since we were there last! We will be returning for sure!
Small errors with the reservation system:
1. The OpenTable reservations start at 1030AM, but the restaurant does not open until 1100AM
2. The OpenTable reservation page says the store opens at 1200PM on Sunday, but it opens at 1030AM.
The La Tienda site does not have details on Brunch service or menu.
Those small growing pains aside for a new service, the brunch was EXCELLENT. Service was wonderful. Everyone loved their food.
Would definitely recommend.
They had several empty tables but seated us outside I asked if I could have a table inside because it was extremely hot outside and they acted like it was an inconvenience.
Been here twice now. The food is great, as are the wine choices. Pleasant staff and knowledgeable servers.
This is my favorite place to go to lunch. We ordered a wide variety of items for the neophyte in the group! Mussels with Chorizo, Calamari, Fresh baked bread, Spinach with garlic, raisins, garbanzo beans and almonds, Ensalada Romana, Ham croquettes, olives and lastly the fresh made Churros with homemade chocolate and caramel sauce. Ask for a spoon for the sauces, they are delicious. We had extra foods to take home, just amazing Tapas. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Aniversari and birthday
Loved the quaintness of the restaurant. Food and service were excellent. Only complaint would be the Noise. Will definitely return but will ask for a different room and hope it is not so loud.
Great venue and wonderful service.
Best tapas in Williamsburg.
We have finally, after many wonderful meals at La Tienda, identified two table locations at which we can hear our friends with whom we are dining. Thanks for the help of the reservations staff and hostess who ensured a comfortable spot for us which makes return visits VERY likely. Food, service, ambience and price are all just what we look for in an evening out!
A wonderful treat, a must in Williamsburg. It isn’t just tapas, but the Spanish theme is fantastic!
The staff at La Tienda is warm, knowledgeable and extremely efficient and cordial !
The cuisine is unique and creative as well as delicious....such fun to share tapas - style with dining partners !
La Tienda is never a disappointment.
Have wanted to go for a long time. It was excellent, I could think of a few ways to improve it but not many
Wednesday night is half priced Sangria so we did half pitcher along a salad and two tapas plates, a shrimp and crab and cheese. All were flavorful. The Sangria is really good. Our server, Karen, was very attentive and informative. The only problem is their acoustics. It needs to get fixed.
La Tienda is our family's favorite special occasion restaurant. This time we went for our daughter's 21st birthday. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is great, and the Sangria is wonderful!
Spanish tapas. Best plan is to share plates. Not a tourist place but a locals hang out.
Delicious, delicious, delicious. The service was great too. I can’t say enough positive things about the restaurant.
Parking was terrible and the seating by the bar was loud.
Love the seafood paella the prawns are huge didn’t like that I had to peel and only tiny piece of monk fish in dish . A little pricey but worth it. Paella says it feeds 2-4 but only if you order appetizers if you are 4. I eat there when I visit yearly.
Great service and food in a nice setting.
Great tasty tapas food , excellent quality for the prices . Love going here for a date night ! Main room gets loud by the bar but super fun atmosphere . Variety of the menu and robust wine pairings are great for a date ! We will be back soon! Paella is our favorite ! Tons of Gluten agree options with skilled chefs who know how to be delicate arojnd allergies !
We love both the food and ambience. We feel like we’re transported to Spain whenever we go. Ear outside if the weather is good.
Let Tienda transports guests into another world. The atmosphere, service, and small plates lifts you from Virginia to Spain. A very relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Excellent food, affordable wines, and attentive service.
Great restaurant we stumbled on while visiting Williamsburg. Service was outstanding and food was very good.id go again for certain
Great Spanish food. Paella was awesome , much better than in many so called seafood restaurants in Charleston, SC
