La Scala Italian Bistro
A family owned Dublin icon that few people in the Columbus area have not had the pleasure of dining in whether it be in the classic dining room or in one of the beautiful banquet rooms. Known for delicious Italian food as well as an experienced wait and bar staff that provides stellar service that combines with the ambiance and decor to give guests a superior dining experience. The current owner, Willie Lalli, came from the same home town in Italy, Cerreto Di Vastogirardi as the original owner, Benny Ciotola, so the food is steeped in true Italian heritage. Over its illustrious history many celebrities such as Bob Hope, Danny Glover, Ahmad Rashad, Anthony Quinn, Tommy Lasorda, Bon Jovi as well as many of OSU’s coaches and players have enjoyed dining at LaScala. Come, enjoy and become part of our celebrated history! With live piano Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday , Friday and Saturday.
Sliced eggplant lightly breaded, layered with provolone, parmesan and tomatoes, baked in a red sauce
Tender mushrooms filled with crabmeat stuffing and baked in an alfredo sauce
Pan fried chicken breast topped with roasted red pepper cream sauce and fontina cheese, served over prosciutto sage angel hair
Excellent. Great first dining experience after quarantine was over.
Great Restaurant , wonderful generous portions food. You will never leave hungry.
Best buffet in town.
Best meatballs in Columbus. Excellent service, a team of people remove plates, deliver food and take care of every aspect of your meal. There was a piano player, the music was upbeat and added to the atmosphere.
My daughter and I went here for dinner Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My parents used to go in the 70’s and I’d been a couple times in the 90’s. It’s been updated and the food is still terrific. I had pine nut encrusted grouper per our server’s recommendation and my daughter enjoyed Veal Milanese. Portions were generous allowing delicious leftovers for next day. We split a lava cake and it was delicious! The piano player was wonderful and atmosphere relaxing. Thanks for keeping this Dublin institution current and food superb.
We had a birthday and send off for one of the family members who was going to boot camp on the following Monday. It was his choice to go here. Everything from the start was on point. The food was excellent and service was outstanding. This is a great gem and a great place to take family for any event. They have plenty of space to accommodate.
Food was excellent. Comfortable atmosphere! Server disappointed us. He seemed in a rush to get our order .
The food and service was excellent. We will definitely be back because of the extensive menu and great service. Live piano music helped Create the ambiance.
One of our favorites to enjoy for a special function. Love the atmosphere. Service is always great.
We had a delicious meal celebrating our son’s birthday. Everything was delicious, the server was on top of everything but not intrusive. This was our first time there, we will definitely be back.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. A classic.
The restaurant advertised thru the Dispatch a 2/15 Valentines Soecisl at $60/person so Imade a reservation for me and my wife. When we got there, our server said the special was now $75/person. We were not served bread so I had to ask the waitress for that. She ordered a filet mignon medium but it came medium rare.
It was freezing in the room! We were not put in regular area we had been at other visits. It was a large open room on other side- no ambience at all. It was so cold and restroom was even colder! My food was good but only like warm at best. Waited a long time for everything. Support wait staff was good, outlet waitress was flustered and slow. 3 other couples sat after us were done and left before us. Very loud couple behind us were like they were sitting on our table. Not the best Valentines meal - regretted our choice this year. Feb 15. 6:30 reservation Giffen.
Good place to eat Great service Turn up the Heat it was freezing in your Dinning room My girl friend was freezing
Nice place for a date night
My fiancés face said it all. Cringe worthy experience. I made a reservation with the expectation of live music and a romantic ambiance. Instead we sat at a wobbly cheap card table amongst the masses. Ball room was stale, loud, uninviting and we were wedged in the corner as if we were being hidden. I went back to double check my reservation to see if I had missed any description of the “special” seating. There was no disclosure.
At first I thought my reaction was isolated, but as other couples filled the empty card tables similar wincing looks filled their faces.
La Scala, I expected much much better. I am sincerely disappointed.
Food and service was great!
My wife and I had a great dinner.
Excellent restaurant. Loved the live piano. Will be back
We made a reservation at La Scala for Valentines Day. First time here and we were expecting rich and tasty Italian cuisine with a warm atmosphere. Our server was great and the bread was lovely. We thought we were in for a great dinner. They opened up their banquet space for the holiday and the overall service was fantastic. When our food came, we discovered a few corners may have been cut to accommodate the busy holiday schedule. We both ordered some variety of the fettuccine Alfredo. Both dishes were fine but nothing spectacular. We ordered tiramisu which was good but not great. We may need to give La Scala another try, just not on a holiday.
We were put in an overflow room for Valentines day which was fine but it was very cold in there.
No apologies or attempts to help were made.
All the couples were complaining.
I deducted a star for my cold mashed potatoes, although my grouper was piping hot and excellent. The rest of our experience was 5 stars.
Best mashed potatoes ever!
La Scala's has always been where our family goes for special birthdays. This year, I turned 60 and my family took me here to celebrate. Although it was difficult without my father (he passed 8 years ago), the pianist made it special because we knew dad would have loved the music as much as we did. My friends then took me on my birthday for brunch and it was so yummy! Best birthday ever and we've all decided we're not waiting for another birthday to return. The food, service and ambiance is unmatched! LOVE La Scala!
There was a rowdy family behind my girlfriend at the bar that ruined the mood. Maybe don’t have a bar
Very noisy. Waitress needed to check back sooner. Even though we'd discussed doneness of my steak ahead of time she didn't check on it after delivering it. Took 10 minutes before she was back and I could send it back for a little more time on the grill. Drinks languished too long without refills. Ordered chocolate lava cake and got served the chocolate flourless cake instead. Credit, she did take that off the bill. Food was fair, but not rave worthy.
Everyone was surprised how fast our food was ready. Everyone loved their dinners. Great place for a large party! We had 10 people and La Scala excels at serving a large group.
I was on my anniversary. The ambience was perfect
Poor service, had to ask for things more than once
We ate dinner here for restaurant week 2020. The portions were great size. We got the calamari app, the sauce that came with it was really good. We also got the Pasta Di Mare and it was delicious! The cheesecake and cannoli were also great! Would def go back and recommend to friends.
Great service. Everyone loved their appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We’ll be back!
Long time since I have been there....forgot how delicious it is and great ambience!
I loved the Calamari, Chicken Marsala and Tiramisu for the Restaurant week price of $30. The food was delicious and ambience very nice. The extra Antipasto and bruschetta were not my favorites. The bruschetta was tasty, but more like little french bread pizzas. The Antipasto just left me wanting something else. I still would recommend the restaurant for many gathers.
We enjoyed a great meal. It was restaurant week and we all chose one of their set menu meals. All were superb.
Our waiter Eric was excellent and very attentive to us. We sat in the small nook just inside the entrance which was lovely and gave our group a lot of privacy.
Nice dinner. Great service as it was very attentive. It was cold - due to hard surfaces everywhere.
Most everything was great. We loved the food. The service was wonderful. The only complaint we have is the live music. The acoustics are terrible & the amplifier was turned so high that we left with headaches! The musician was loud & not very good.
Comfortable, relaxing dinner music(live piano), excellent service and delicious food. Good portions. We’ll go back again.
The customer service as well as the wine specials were great, but the restaurant itself needs major remodeling and the Cajun pasta I had was lacking in flavor.
