La Pia pizzeria was founded in 1887 in La Spezia. Within a few years the shop became a landmark for those looking for a snack or a meal. Originally the menu was limited to Farinata (a local dish made of chickpeas flour) but after a few years it also became popular for its delicious pizza and other genuine products such as focaccia al formaggio, focaccia portfino and focaccia alla nutella.

Tradition and quality has remained unchanged and its products are broadly known in Italy. In 2016 La Pia opened its first Pizzeria in London located in 312 Ladbroke Grove (W10 5NQ).

The menu is well diversified and in addition to pizza it includes gluten free products, a good selection of antipasti and salads as well as Italian wines.

Try their 'farinata', it is a difficult (for me) to explain what it is, but go to youtube and search for farinata: full of protein, tasty and healthy (plus, surprisingly tasty).

The "farinata" and "focaccia al formaggio" are exactly as the ones one would eat in Liguria. They are just perfect! More over, everything is really cheap for London standards!

I went there with an Italian friend who is vegetarian and is a great cook. She was on the hunt for farinata and was surprised to find a La Pia outlet/restaurant in London (or even the UK). It is widely known in Italy. It did not disappoint. The farinata and the pizzas were very good and took my friend back to Italy. The service was great and friendly too. It's just a shame about the location as it is not really Notting Hill but about a 5 minute walk from Ladbroke Grove. They deserve to be much busier but are let down by their location. It's worth a trip if you're anywhere near the area and you love good pizza and farinata (and pasta). My friend had a long chat with them on our second trip there. I expect it won't be our last trip there (I'm from East London and my friend is from South London).
