We went to the restaurant to celebrate a birthday. The red set up a beautiful table at the beach for us. Unfortunately, it started to rain but the servers were quick to move us to a dry location. The food was excellent.

We had an amazing time at La Palapa. It was quite busy at our time of arrival and even though our reservation was for eight o’clock and we arrived much earlier they were able to accommodate us. The food was great, they had a vegetarian option which was great since I am a vegetarian and it’s difficult to find a restaurant with tasty vegetarian dishes. As for the ambiance it was nice to have live music that was not super loud.

Lovely spot on the beach. Great ambiance, service was slow- waiter disappeared for a while. Food was delicious. Nice for kids to be able to run around on the beach during dinner.

I’m not sure why this restaurant is so highly rated. The food was OKAY nothing spectacular. Booked a reservation for my anniversary, overall the service was fine. The food quality was ok, again nothing to write home about. The wine & cocktail list was subpar and frankly overpriced for the “quality” of wines available but it’s Mexico. Why I was expecting more, I don’t know. The staff tried their best to offer great service, so I can’t complain about that. I was simply expecting more based on the rave reviews. Sadly was disappointed. The surrounding area to the restaurant felt like I was in the Castro district of SF. This I wasn’t expecting. If that’s your jam, you probably will love this place.

Great ambiance, right on the beach so the views were amazing. Perfect amount of noise and culture. Started off with their bread which was delicious. We had the Al pastor dumplings which had the perfect ration of meat to dumpling and sweet to spice. We ordered the sea bass and chorizo with a goat cheese mix. The sea bass was amazing, came with a curry like sauce. The chorizo was a bit too gamey for our taste. Coming from the states, it’s not what we were expecting, but the goat cheese mix and vegetables that came with the dish were amazing. They gave us complimentary champagne for our anniversary which was lovely. And we ordered the churro, AMAZING. That was the highlight of the meal. Great service, everyone was so friendly and attentive.

We normally always end our vacation dinner at LaPalapa and this year was not memorable at all. The waiter was nice enough and I ordered the 8oz filet special $55. As always, I order my steaks Med/Rare and I emphasized the rare part. The sauce was delicious but the steak was so dry it looked like a roast. There was NO rare to it at all. Very disappointing to day the least. My husband ordered his favorite on the menu which is the slowly braised for 12 hrs short ribs. They were so tough and chewy they were far from 12 hr slow cooked. All in all it was a HUGE disappointment for our last meal. We really have loved this place for years. After spending $200 we left very let down. And probably will never return. 😢

The pork appetizer was very hard to chew. Tataki was okay. My fish wasn’t probably the only thing that was good. The shrimp had no taste. Very pricey for what they offer. Very disappointed.

We have had very good meals here on previous visits over the years, but tonight’s dinner was very disappointing, especially given the cost of dining here. Drinks were good, as were the coconut shrimp (although puréed cilantro was off putting). But snapper was mushy and definitely not fresh. And “portobello risotto” had mushrooms but they were not portebellos; plus the dish had a burnt, gummy taste.

If you are visiting PV for at least a few days you must have a meal at La Palapa. It never disappoints for breakfast lunch or dinner. Everything is perfect! It is one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in Puerto Vallarta!

It is the rainy season right now and we got to experience a thunderstorm on the beach. The staff was outstanding in reacting and accommodating our request to move our dinner to the bar. Cesar was outstanding.

Service was amazing! All the servers were very attentive and super friendly. We ordered the coconut shrimp and the palapa shrimp with the zarandeado and tuna sashimi. It was all amazing!! The drinks were also really yummy and refreshing. The best part was the sunset! It was so beautiful. Absolutely loved the experience!

Food was delicious. Service was on point. Super location! Great environment regardless of the occasion and they seem to be very accommodating to larger groups. The staff overlap and cross training is sufficient such that the tables next to larger groups aren’t neglected. You can tell the staff understands the importance of great service. At every point of contact we were met with a smile and a left with the question “May I get you anything else?” Every time. This was our fourth or fifth trip to Puerto Vallarta and our first time at La Palapa… it certainly won’t be our last. Great place to go in the Zona Romantika and it’s LGBTQ+ friendly. We talked about going back again this week sometime before we leave for the US.

The views are amazing, as you sit right near the ocean while dining. I followed the waiter’s advice and got the La Palapa Shrimp. Although it was good, it was a small portion and priced high. The potatoes were lumpy and had an odd flavor, but still edible. The ceviche was amazing though! I’d recommend going @ lunchtime, and just enjoying the view then.

We had a great experience here, highly recommend reserving a table for sunset time as it was a beautiful way to spend an evening. We mainly ordered appetizers, but everything we had was delicious. More on the pricey side because of location and quality.
